A Virginia mayor has apologized for saying Joe Biden “just announced Aunt Jemima” as his running mate, saying he now understands his words were hurtful and inappropriate. Luray Mayor Barry Presgraves, 77, said he was sorry at a town council meeting on Monday for the Aug. 2 Facebook post that was later removed — but not before a council member, town officials and residents in the community called for the three-term mayor to step down. “I understand what I posted on social media was wrong, offensive and unbecoming,” Presgraves said during the meeting, WTOP reports. “I also want to make a direct apology to all people of color and women.

I doubt anything she did in the horizontal position would be very noteworthy either.

Aunt Jemima was an honest, honorable, productive, and innovative lady.
Not one of those words applies to the Joe & Ho ticket.

Oh, you mean he didn't refer to them as the Demented Racist old Fart and his Mattressback Slut Buddy ticket. Any apologies are owed to Aunt Jemima for bringing her good name into this disgusting mess of a political ticket. I didn't think Democrats could get below Hillary!!! but they have outdone themselves.

Oh, for God’s sake. When will everyone grow the hell up and stop apologizing for trivial transgressions of a childish racial game that they never asked to play. This past Sunday afternoon, a black man in Goldsboro, N.C. approached a five year-old boy who was outside riding his bike with his two sisters while their parents looked on and shot the little boy point blank in the head, relieving him of his brain. The killer felt this was a just punishment for the child’s “white privilege”. In Boise, Idaho a billboard just went up notifying Caucasians that our contributions to this country have been non-existent and intimating that very soon we will no longer be welcome here. And WE are apologizing for, exactly, what? Joe Biden and Kamala Mattress have made themselves agitators in a civil war brewing in our midst. Calling a soulless opportunist like The Mattress “Aunt Jemima” is so trivial as to be laughable, especially while black activists around the country are burning cities, tearing down statues, looting, threatening to invade homes, murdering children, etc. and promising civil unrest in areas that were planned, built, administrated and protected by white people. All the while the Indo-Jamaican whore, whose roots are not only in slave ownership (according to her father) but not even in the U.S., insults, lies and steals honor from actual civil rights warriors in a quest to go from despicable county prosecutor of repulsive manner and ethics to de facto President of the United States. She is no Aunt Jemima, she’s a Jezebel. I won’t apologize.

Words have meaning. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Get off your knees and stand up for your beliefs. I am not apologizing for anything. Some people are always looking for a fight. Last year someone tried to bully me and I stopped it in it's tracks.

OP, the lady (and I emphasize lady) who portrayed Aunt Jemima was one of the first very successful black ladies who lived in this country. She deserves major respect (btw, look up Uncle Ben, so does he).
But I don't know how one should describe Harris. I don't know of any (Asian) Indians who have become icons in American culture, so I don't know even how to insult her by comparing her with one.
The only way I can think of to insult her is that, by all reports that I've read, she's a pretty nasty, mean woman.

Aunt Jemima is much sweeter than "the other woman".
Just a statement of fact...

I guess it depends on what kind of person you are. Some people demean Aunt Jemima, I guess because she was a cook and happy about it. Those bitter people spit on working people. Chef Boyardee must be offensive to some people and I think the scandal of Betty Crocker has already been settled. Too bad. As a kid I enjoyed everything endorsed by these fictitious characters. Our family diet had a lot of other foods, but the advertised, processed, foods were easy and delicious. They were the early part of a long life and I would argue that as a white kid in a rural area that had no black people, associating a happy black woman with a delicious food, was one of the reasons I never absorbed the racist thinking that was in the air in the 1950s and 1960s, but it gets passed on in some families and some places.
A 77 year old politician is way past his sell date if that comment was the best he could do. Instead of more accurately calling her a radical or socialist or native born, not Natural born - maybe he is too stupid to know the difference. Instead he gifts her and the DNC votes by bringing up the totally unrelated and unnecessary Aunt Jemima putdown, and for this dope it was a putdown. Ironically he is on the same side as the perpetually offended race hustlers. They both demean a great American success story about an interesting woman who helped black Americans at a time of lethal racist democrat persecution.

I was also offended by his comment. Aunt Jemima made tasty pancakes. Harris has never done anything useful or noteworthy in a vertical position.
