Sarah Fuller is poised to become the first woman to play in a Power 5 football game when Vanderbilt plays at Missouri in an SEC contest Saturday. A Vanderbilt official confirmed Fuller made the trip to Missouri and will be in uniform for the game. If she sees game action Saturday, Fuller will make Power 5 history. "Let's make history,'' Fuller, a senior, wrote Friday on Twitter.

Circus side show, but she’ll be a hit in the locker room.

Put up or shut up. I say this as a woman who hopes she can play but worry about her getting hurt. It really is a mans game.

Being able to kick a 40-45 yard field goal would be about the minimum qualification for being a college major conference field goal kicker. If Ms. Fuller can do that under pressure, good for her. Let's hope the center and the place holder do their jobs properly so she doesn't get creamed by some 280 pound two-legged locomotive. The idea of putting a woman on a football field with all those fleet foot, physically huge individuals is disconcerting to this Vanderbilt letterman (golf). If she gets hurt, the whole stunt will be regarded as a big mistake.

This is a joke. Most high school kickers are good out to 50. I made one from 49 in 1987 and wasn’t recruited above the NAIA. There is zero chance she got this by merit or ability.

Another female kicker. Big deal. Been there, done that. Start a member of the distaff set up at linebacker or fullback on a D-1 squad and then call ESPN. If Vandy gets shut out, the Commodores wasted a plane ticket on a circus sideshow. When Katie Hnida kicked a couple of PATs for UNM in 2003 there was no such thing as Power Five versus the Other Five. Besides Hnida originally attended the University of Colorado (now a Power Five school) and suited up for a bowl game for the Buffaloes and actually was the full-time placekicker on her high school football team. Ms. Fuller is just a refugee from the soccer team.

She won't see the field unless the field goal range is akin to an extra point. They have to do all they can to guarantee she doesn't miss, or else it's just a cypher in the books.

As a former Commodore myself, I still feel embarrassed when the words Vandy and football are uttered in the same sentence. I seriously doubt having a female player on the team will hurt their bowl chances.

Based on Vandys play this year I thought they already had girls participating.

My understanding was that the Vandy team was decimated by COVID. The coach went to the soccer coach and asked if he had someone. She is a soccer player with a very strong kick. She practiced with the team and the coach said basically their concern is distance and whether she can adjust and get the height on the kick. I say go girl and thank you for willing to try. I wish you well.

I didn't have the skills so many of you had on the field. But, I was smart enough to out fox some of those really fast kids and just big (wide) enough to back it up. I didn't care who I was snapping to ball to, I just knew the girls would be paying attention to them rather than we faceless five. ANYway, my job was to remind those of 'talent' on the other side that it was *my* line and they might wish to think twice about crossing it. I did pretty good. Bored me to no end.

This afternoon Mizzou beat Vanderbilt 41-0, so Sarah Fuller didn't get a chance to kick for a point, extra or otherwise.
Jeez, the 'Dores are as bad as they were when I was there. My senior year, living on campus at the fraternity house, I attended exactly zero football games--even with the free student attendance--and never missed a home basketball game. The football team was regarded as having an offensive line so good that none of our running backs could get through.

I saw the replay of her history making kick. Looked like it went 20 yards in the air then bounced another 10. Then the liveshot after the game where she exhorted girls to believe they could become anything. Her team is winless. But woke! Not trying to put her down, but let's be real. There are probably a hundred male high school level kickers who would have been better.
