CHICAGO — Tammy Duckworth is no longer an afterthought in the Democratic veepstakes. The Illinois senator and Purple Heart recipient has landed squarely in the conversation after a high-profile clash with Tucker Carlson last week and her advocacy against politicization of the military in the weeks prior. The attention hasn't escaped Biden's vetting team. It has stepped up information-gathering on Duckworth recently, scrutinizing her legislative record and talking to her colleagues, according to three sources familiar with the matter. A contingent of Duckworth-for-VP backers, including high-dollar donors and a politically active veterans group, has intensified efforts on her behalf in the

Comments:

What are her qualifications to be 'a heartbeat (or brainwave) away'? Her military service is admirable, but voters have cast-aside wounded war veterans time after time.

Liberals weren't moved by Bob Dole's and John McCain's valor and war injuries. They should get a clue: Patriots and people who admire the military are OUR voters, not theirs. And we won't buy this woman, just like we laughed off John ("Reporting for Duty") Kerry. Because she's a stone leftwing loonie.

She never lived in the U.S. until she was 16, and even then, it was Hawaii, which is only marginally connected to american culture. much like Kamala Sutra, the Canadian-Jamaican-Indian, Tammy is only tangentially connected to the American culture, although she puts on a good show., She campaigns in miniskirts, so that everyone will know she lost her legs. Someone once wrote that 'patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.' Military service can be said to be the same. It troubles me that this odd woman could be supported for a position that may place her in the presidency, soon. She is not ready for such a job, but then not one woman mentioned in the article is ready.

She is NOT a second-generation Natural Born Citizen with two citizen parents at the time of her birth. Yes,Obama got away with that but when he was a U.S. senator, he knew he wasn't eligible for the presidency and unsuccessfully attempted to change the legal definition of Natural Born Citizen. The U.S. Constitution does not come with a glossary. As such, you have look at the source material that was used to draft the document. There was only ONE source material that mentioned or defined the legal term, Natural Born Citizen, and that was the book, "Law of Nations." The Founding Fathers certainly didn't create the concept. The Natural Born Citizen requirement was instituted in order to prevent divided allegiances. Additionally, anyone who was alive at the time of the signing of the Constitution was exempt because we were a young nation.

Unqualified. She was Rahm Emmanuel's hand-picked person to unseat Peter Roskam in the House. When that didn't work, she was handed a job by Blago (before he became persona non grata to the Democrats). The Democrats then re-drew the districts so Tammy could win, beating now-RINO Joe Walsh. And as luck would have it (Rahm's voodoo doll, maybe?) Republican Mark Kirk had a debilitating stroke. He ran for reelection anyway (sadly, he was the best choice in Illinois) and Tammy won. Her whole political career is just being a propped up Democrat candidate who will case a reliable Democrat vote.

Jeff Sessions will not regain his old Alabama U.S. Senate seat this year. The former U.S. attorney general has lost to Tommy Tuberville, a first-time political candidate and former college football coach, in the state's Republican runoff election for the seat, The Associated Press projects. Tuberville — who was endorsed by President Trump in the GOP matchup — edged ahead of Sessions in Alabama's state primary in March but failed to secure a majority of the vote, setting up the runoff on Tuesday. The former Auburn University football coach will now face Democratic incumbent Sen. Doug Jones in November. Sessions was an

New York's polls closed nearly three weeks ago. But many candidates still don't know whether they've won -- because New York City is still counting ballots that arrived in the mail. These votes would be an afterthought in most years. In fact, in New York, which is typically far more reliant on in-person voting, state law requires a weeklong delay before counting absentee ballots. But this year, amid widespread worries of COVID-19 spreading at polling places, the number of mail-in ballots is surging far faster than states' ability to count them. Elections experts are increasingly convinced that this surge, and the
