New York—Several buildings and iconic landmarks around the city and state will be lit up in Pride colors this weekend. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Friday that One World Trade Center, the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, Niagara Falls and several additional sites will be lit in rainbow colors to celebrate Pride weekend. This year’s LGBTQ Pride celebrations look a bit different because of the coronavirus pandemic. The annual march was canceled, but many other events have moved online, giving the community and its supporters a new avenue to commemorate the Pride movement and rally for equal rights.
A social media campaign aimed at holding a nationwide economic boycott in the wake of George Floyd’s death has sparked a counter-movement.
The #BlackOutDay2020 boycott, set for July 7, initially called for people to only shop at black-owned businesses, but has now become a call for a shopping boycott for one day. Critics of the move and of weeks of Black Lives Matter protests are responding with suggestions for a shopping spree, instead. [Tweet]

A New York City college professor has instructed protesters to use a chain instead of rope to topple statues “faster.”
Erin Thompson, an assistant professor of art crime at CUNY’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, responded to the imminent destruction of a Christopher Columbus statue at the Minnesota State Capitol on June 10 with her own advice:
“I’m a professor who studies the deliberate destruction of cultural heritage and I just have to say… use chain instead of rope and it’ll go faster,” Thompson told her 12,500 Twitter followers.

Early Friday morning, hundreds of Antifa attacked police and the North Precinct in Portland. MINNEAPOLIS - Two bars in Minneapolis will once again close their doors citing ongoing violence in Minneapolis, the owners announced on Saturday. According to The After Midnight Group, which owns the bars, Cowboy Jack's in downtown Minneapolis and Cowboy Slim's in Uptown will both close due to "ongoing neighborhood violence, vandalism and civil unrest" including the shooting in Uptown last weekend that left 11 people hurt and one dead, not far from Cowboy Slim's. New Jersey officials have sent residents an “urgent notice” that their mail-in ballots “may have been destroyed” in a postal vehicle fire, adding to existing concerns over the validity of voting without having to show up at a polling station.
That is especially true in the Garden State, where there have been a number of issues related to mail-in voting, including allegations of fraud.
According to NJ.com, mail-in ballots could have been aboard a U.S. Postal Service truck that caught fire and burned a week ago in Morris Township, spokesperson George Flood said.

All three authors sound the common theme that the hyper-green environmental activists who have captured, politicized, and monetized the concern for the environment have, as Lomborg explains, created a false climate alarm which has “costs us trillions, hurts the poor, and fails to fix the planet.” To varying degrees, all three authors come from a strong environmental activist background, which observation makes their public revelations even more noteworthy.

U.S. Border Patrol personnel launched an investigation Friday after a boat arrived at a Southern California beach and 11 people got out and fled, according to a report.
The vessel, described as a 25-foot-long pleasure craft, came ashore at Encinitas, about 25 miles north of San Diego. The occupants fled through a beach access area and scattered into a neighborhood, Encinitas Lifeguard Capt. Larry Giles told FOX 5 of San Diego.
