Most of us are the offspring of people who came here during the great waves of unrestricted European immigration between 1880 and 1920. Our forebears did not own slaves.
They were mostly peasants who could no longer eke out an existence on the small piece of land that was their inheritance. Some among the Irish came as indentured servants.
Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat colleagues take a knee and drape themselves in kente cloth to fashion their own agenda onto the killing of George Floyd.

We’re not a unified culture. I, as a Christian conservative, have nothing to do with anyone on the left. My values and that of the left are polar opposites. I will never compromise with God-haters; all those that hate all things good and decent. How, in God’s Holy Name, am I to be unified with murderers, rapists, thieves, perverts, looters, rioters, vandals, islamists, anarchists, abortionists, the merciless, addicts, traitors, marxists, and anyone who votes Democrat? What fellowship does light have with darkness?
Yes; we’re (Christians) to love God, our families, our neighbors, and even our enemies! We do not join with our enemies. That’s the difference!

From one side of my family, we came to the colony of Maryland because we were Catholics and it was a colony that practiced religious toleration. When Maryland repealed toleration, my ancestors went to Kentucky. On the other side of the family, my ancestors came from Luxembourg in search of land and better opportunities. At no time did they own slaves - they were farmers who worked their own land. All of them were proud to be Americans as am I. I have nothing in common with Antifa or BLM (which is mostly screechy white girls). I stand with God. I stand with my country.

I do not want to unify, or in any way accept Democrats, or their culture. No thank you! We will have to confront the Democrats and defeat them, or we have lost this country.

America has allowed its self to be taken over by the bad seed servants of Lucifer, Satan, the great deceiver, a liar and the father of it.
Isaiah 14:12-14
12 How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
13 For you have said in your heart:
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.
2 Thessalonians 2:3,4
3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
Sinful man is falling away more rapidly now than at any time before.
All will be worshiping the father of evil Lucifer before Gods end time. We are almost there as we are in the times of the fifth trump.

I am not friends with anyone who is not conservative. At my age, I don’t waste my time trying to maintain a relationship with anyone who is left of center. Who needs it?
I had to associate with leftists for my business but kept it to a minimum and kept them at a distance. Now, CV19 pretty much moved my retirement up from 12/31/20 to 3/2/2020. And I’m OK with that.

If you accept that the United States of America is in the eighth and final stage in the rise and fall of civilizations, then it is the latter. From dependence back to bondage. Unless we step up now, our American culture will succumb to much much more suffering and conflict before a civilization with virtue can be restored.
Courtesy of leftism, America is broken in half and chaos flourishes now. It began with replacing belief in the Creator with obeyance to the state. Such is leftism.

Silly question. Ever since George Floyd got drunk and attempted to pass a counterfeit bill, we have been subjected to every grievance from white privilege to not enough nuts in crunchy peanut butter. If the aggrieved lived in Africa they would be walking ten miles each way for water and dodging bullets from Islamic terrorists instead of from each other. A bunch of babies throwing a tantrum can not get along well with others and need to live in a tightly controlled environment for their own good.

A culture is defined by what it upholds as virtues and vices - how its members rank things such as truth, faith, honesty, integrity, marriage, education, etc. The Ten Commandments are a prime example of some key virtues.
Once we begin to disagree on important virtues, we are no longer of the same culture.

I disagree with his comment that most of us have ancestors that came over from 1880-1920. My ancestors came to US In 1819. They were farmers in Pennsylvania and never had any slaves. I had an ancestor that was a Prisoner of War twice in North Carolina.

The class motto for 1979 from my alma mater is Omnes Viri, which is Latin for All Male. It's cheesy but we were the last all male class at the service academies and wanted something to signify as much in 1975 when our class crest was designed. Well, 45 years later, and 41 years after graduation (thanks to the fidiot from the class of 1980 who left an open mike on his FaceGramTweeter public broadcast deal and in what he thought was private used racial slurs with his wife), the class of 1980 has been severely micro-agressed by 1979's class motto and it must be changed. There is a petition on the interweb somewhere that can be agreed to and signed to help heal the classes between 1980 and now and one of the demands is to remove my class' motto, Omnes Viri because it is so uninclusive. Even several of my own classmates have taken a knee, offered to shine a woman grad's shoes, and want us to "move forward" to stop the oppression. I think 1980 USNA grad and first woman at Navy, Wendy Lawrence could be standing on Mars right this minute, achieving much more than just astronaut had our motto not oppressed her so badly. The hateful motto is engraved on our rings so any tips on how to grind it off would be helpful. I want to melt mine down and mold it into a golden solidarity vagina to help us heal and "move forward."

What we have now is the Obama Democrat Party of 2008. A coalition of the aggrieved. Blacks, LGBT's Feminists, Hispanics, Illegals, Felons, Communists,Socialists, and Anarchists.
Financed with monies from corporations and individuals who are trying to show their "Wokeness", and UnAmerican types like Soros, who hopes to profit from America's collapse into Anarchy where only the well-financed will rise to power.
The young adults that are being used in this attempted coup, have never been taught History, American or Global, only Social Studies, which teaches that everyone on the planet was somehow misused by European Colonialism. The students etc. are expecting the outcome or their rioting etc., to bring about a Global Federation to rule fairly and address all grievances. If it came to pass it would more closely resemble the "Hunger Games" than Star Trek's Federation.
We have had to fight to hold onto this Republic since its inception, and I fear we are approaching those crossroads again.

A unified culture has differences of opinions but has a unified love of country. They celebrate our national holidays instead of denigrating them. The respect our founders while being aware of their flaws. The democrats aka the marxist party has been working long and hard to divide us. They have not decried what BLM or antifa have been doing because they support, fund and direct it. Anything to take down Trump. That's how sick they are. They would not be doing all of this if they were not afraid. Of Trump. Of us.

We aren't unified. The Democrats under Obama threw open their doors to Communists, Marxists, and Muslims. These people don't want a Democracy or even a representative Republic. They want a Dictatorship with themselves at the top. The Democrats aren't even pro-Democracy anymore, but THE UNITED STATES IS A DEMOCRACY!
Look at the protesters, and ask yourself how many of them are either Communist, Marxist, or Muslim before they are pro-black? The answer is alot of them.
PEOPLE THAT BELIEVE IN FREEDOM CANNOT SUPPORT THIS!

I guess I'm never going to be 'woke' and since I'm 77, I don't think I want to be. My beer is even a PC violator, a twofer, to be exact. My preferred brew is Yuengling Black and Tan, so I guess I'm insulting two ethnic groups.

The original motto of the United States, adopted by Congress in 1782, was "e pluribus unum"...or Latin for "out of many, one." It was the brilliant core principle of this country. As generations of people from many different countries, and different cultures, races, and religions, came here, they accepted this principle and assimilated to become a united people. That made America the strongest, richest, and fairest country in the world.
That all changed in the last few decades with the push, particularly across our educational system for a totally opposite motto, "diversity is our strength." And here we are now at the logical intended outcome of that movement, not just disunited, but actively at war with multiple aggrieved and self-entitled hostile groups.
Diversity of attributes (race, religion, culture, etc.) alone is NOT a strength. When diverse peoples come together and accept a common set of values, laws, and national mission, that becomes unity...THAT is strength.
That unity of national mission, fortunately, is already written down. It is called our Constitution. No list of shouted demands by mobs representing any particular group supersedes that document. Therefore nobody needs to bow or kneel to any mob's demands. If they feel our Constitution needs to be changed, let us all vote on any such changes. Until then I stand with our Constitution, united with all others who do likewise.

Not unified.
The evil ones who took over the school systems have seen to that. They have taught lies and hate to young people for decades and we did nothing to stop them.
I find that I have very little in common with at least 25% of the country. I have almost nothing that I can agree with between myself and the typical resident of the large cities of the west coast and pretty much the whole of the NE USA. I can't stand to be around folks from NY and Mass in general, and most other states are about the same.
No, we are not unified.

#10, don't agree to it!
My brother and his son both graduated from USNA, brother in '76, so no women. A sister was also a USN officer, via ROTC.
Tell the wimps in class of '80 to pound sand. THEY are causing trouble, not you guys.
Thank you for your service, sir. USNA is a special place....I did not attend, but have been on campus a number of times, including the wedding of my nephew and his funeral. Even to this outsider Navy brat, Navy sibling, Navy uncle - USNA is a special place.
