EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler Friday bolstered the Trump administration’s bid to defund NPR after an NPR reporter editorialized against him and said it was “unsettling” to interview President Trump’s environment chief. “It reinforces in my mind that NPR should not be publicly financed. It’s just ridiculous,” Wheeler said after listening to how his 45-minute interview with Nora Saks of Montana Public Radio on Superfund cleanup efforts turned into an attack on the agency. “So many reporters have blurred the line between reporting and editorializing. And she was editorializing, and I thought it was supposed to be an actual news piece.

Long overdue. Or, better yet, simply defund the "news" section of NPR and the NPB system, in general. We have news broadcasting out the wazoo without a taxpayer funded version. Have public broadcasting deliver classical music, art programs, etc., stuff you might not get elsewhere, and remove all political overtones.

Amen brother! No taxpayer funding for NPR nor PBS. They can compete just like the others.

Let them live off the Sesame Street cash cow for a change. Or add commercial breaks on the hour or something. Public radio already offers classical music at certain times a day, and it is very peaceful on road trips. Some of their other programming includes shows like Click and Clack among others. The thing that people don't realize is that how the stations politics go is totally dependent on the donors. Oregon has a pretty conservative station, thanks to the rural parts of the state that are conservative. This is one time the blue puddles of urban do not influence the station as much.

Cancel their funding, yes, but they should also be forced to repay US taxpayers decades of funding they've received.

And Richard Nixon's EPA? Defund that also. Both should have been done nearly 4 years ago, not 4 months before the presidential election.

or alternatively - place 1/435 of content funding in under control of the nation's representatives. npr would have to
secure content funding through allocations from us congressman - presumably one would actually get dialog/debate rather than propaganda.

We need to drop the government funding of a host of government programs that the left has saddled us with. We are funding countless leftist so called nonprofits set up by the left, including some for Soros. Republicans need to go through the budget and get rid of this nonsense.

Let's not stop with NPR.
Get rid of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which is, as everyone is told on PBS shows, who funds the shows, "The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a private corporation funded by the American People."
A PRIVATE CORPORATION FUNDED BY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
The leftists would lose their minds if there was a conservative private corporation that was funded with tax dollars.
Cut the head off the serpent.

Oh, no! Where will we get our news - - if there's no NPR? And how will we cope without commentary from Nina Totenberg?
