Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered on Monday the creation of a task force to investigate why the novel coronavirus has disproportionately affected the state’s African-American community“ The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted communities of color throughout our state,” Whitmer, a Democrat, said in her executive order. “For example, while African Americans represent 13.6 percent of our state’s population, they represent a staggering 40 percent of the deaths from COVID-19.” Whitmer’s task force will investigate and study strategies to address the disparity as well as the historical and systematic inequalities pertaining to race that have amplified the death rate in the

Comments:

The nasty virus doesn't kill people in 'correct' racial proportions. Gretchy's blue ribbon commission will just have to figure whom to sue for damages.

smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol add to the mortality rates of kung Flu. Blacks are more likely to smoke and drink. yet when the Surgeon General tried to point that out, he was savaged by reporters for saying it. asthma, hypertension, obesity exist among blacks at a higher rate than in whites, contributing to higher mortality rates from kung flu. yet when the Surgeon General mentioned that, he was savaged by reporters for saying it. The surgeon General is black. He is trying to save black lives. the last time a black Surgeon general spoke publicly about an issue, it was Jocelyn Elders, who agreed that schools should teach elementary students how to masturbate. Her boss, Dollar Bill Clinton, fired her. but as the Starr report proved, Dollar Bill Clinton, while in the Oval Office, didn't need masturbation lessons.

African-Americans are predominantly urban in states like Michigan. This virus is going to thrive in congested urban settings, such as New York, New Jersey, Detroit. Also contributing is the underlying health issues of our urban poor (which includes many African-Americans).

Here it comes. In her quest for VP, she joins Pelosi with "The president is a racist". Coronavirus couldn't care less about your race. It kills the elderly, the poor, and those with health problems. But identity politics matters most, because that's where the votes are. No matter what happens in November, the Democrats and the media will have done everything they can to irretrievably split the country in half.

75 percent of African-American men and women are likely to develop high blood pressure by age 55. (American Heart Association) Four out of five African American women are medically obese. (CDC) 45% of African American men and 30% of African American women 50 and over have diabetes. (NIH) Covid-19 has "disproportionately impacted communities of color throughout our state," Madam Governor, because co-morbidities seen to have a direct relation to Covid-19 are significantly greater in the African American population. There. A simple Google search will answer your questions. No "disparity task force" needed. Tax dollars saved.

In addition to obesity, high blood pressure and asthma, you also have living in apartments and using public transportation as added risk factors for minorities. Living in your own home and driving in your own car are ways to always keep people away from you, minimize your chances of contracting this virus. How hard is that to figure? Without exploring data and calculating correlation coefficients I'll bet that 80% of the disparity is related to population density while the other 20% relates to behaviors made of free choice, what we eat, how much we eat, what we drink how much we drink, drug abuse, exercise, smoking, and hygiene practices.

On that note on FB the mayor of New York while policing the violators who venture out on the streets without masks keeps the mass transit subway system open. In a photo there's a picture of a subway car jam packed with, you guessed it, black people. One person has a mask on, there's standing room only (no social distancing) and everyone is playing with a Chinese made I-phone. It shouldn't take a blue ribbon committee to figure that one out unless they want to meet everyday to get paid another paycheck. Governor Whitmer could save a lot of time and money by just going on Google and typing in RACIAL MAKE UP OF DETROIT. Governor Whitmer would find that the US Census Bureau shows that in 2018 the black population of the Detroit metro area was 78.6%, 14.6% white, and 6.8% everyone else. The black population is 60% more likely to have medical issues that make the the perfect hosts for COVID-19. Given that 4 counties, all in the Detroit area, make up most of Michigan's Covid-19 cases, it is no wonder that black and minority cases are higher.

We all know the old saying that tough times bring out both the best in people and the worst in people. And right now, the coronavirus pandemic has brought tough times to literally billions of us all around the world. For a vivid illustration of both the best and worst response to the pandemic, you have to look no further than the rash of small but disturbing protests taking place intermittently around the U.S. against shelter-in-place orders that are saving lives. We’ve witnessed the sad spectacle of irate protesters equating “liberty” with shortsighted and selfish urges to deny the harsh reality that the vast majority of Americans are doing their

Most politicians in the running to join a presidential ticket as the VP candidate are inclined to stay silent, change the subject, or simply express their humility at the thought of being considered. Stacey Abrams isn't most politicians. "I would be an excellent running mate," Abrams said in a recent interview with Elle magazine, citing her "strong history of executive and management experience," as well as her "25 years in independent study of foreign policy." As soon as it became clear that former vice president Joe Biden would be the Democratic Party's nominee for president, Abrams embarked on a media tour to make the case for why Stacey Abrams,

We’re all homeschoolers now. Schools have closed for more than 55 million students nationwide, and at least 34 states have shuttered schools for the rest of the academic year. Just in time, our media and academic elites are coming out swinging against homeschooling. The Washington Post and Salon have raised questions about the practice lately. More alarming, Harvard Magazine this week unleashed a thoroughly unfounded attack on homeschooling, drawing on the work of Harvard University law professor Elizabeth Bartholet.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee, speculated during a Thursday virtual fundraiser that President Donald Trump will attempt to delay the election in November.“Mark my words I think he is gonna try to kick back the election somehow, come up with some rationale why it can’t be held,” Biden told attendees at the event billed “A Fabulous Evening With Vice President Joe Biden,” according to a pool report.“Imagine threatening not to fund the Post Office. Now what in God’s name is that about?” he added. “Other than trying to let the word out that he’s going to do all he can to

The hosts of The View are doing their best to prop up Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, even offering him free advice and future media appearances on their show. After Joy Behar confidently claimed Biden could disappear and still win the election, she had a change of heart on Friday’s show, saying that he needed more media air time to counteract Trump’s “bloviating.” Each host fawned over the “sane” and “stable” Biden as their dream president. At one point, Meghan McCain even admitted that more people losing their jobs

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Felix Gallardo still left her Passaic apartment every day to head to her job at a local warehouse. Once she started coming down with covid-like symptoms, the single mother said she had to quit her job, which didn’t offer sick leave. She can’t collect unemployment and isn’t eligible for the federal stimulus check because of her immigration status. Gallardo and more than 500,000 other undocumented immigrants, some legally residing in New Jersey, comprise the vulnerable community being crushed by the coronavirus pandemic, exacerbated by inequities and barriers, according to a new report released Thursday.

CNN political commentator Chris Cuomo’s wife, Cristina, is facing criticism from practically everybody — except anybody at CNN, of course — for promoting a “crackpot coronavirus treatment” that’s been dubbed “dangerous.” In a post to her blog reportedly published this week, the left-wing host’s wife listed the pseudoscientific holistic methods she’s been employing to treat her coronavirus infection. One of those methods involves bathing in Clorox bleach. “At the direction of my doctor, Dr. Linda Lancaster, who reminded me that this is an oxygen-depleting virus, she suggested I take a bath and add a nominal amount of bleach. Yes, bleach,” the post reads. Lancaster is not a doctor.
