In the fight against climate change, the nation’s freight railroads have painted themselves as heroes. Rail is the “the most environmentally friendly way” to move cargo over land, says the Association of American Railroads, the industry’s trade group. The industry’s four biggest companies agree: “Railroads are essential to moving [climate] objectives forward,” says CSX Transportation, the largest railroad east of the Mississippi. Yet for almost 30 years, the biggest players in the freight-rail industry have waged a campaign to discredit climate science and oppose almost any federal climate policy, reveals new research analyzed by The Atlantic.

Nobody denies that there is a climate.
Lots of people, especially the more intelligent ones and more informed ones, are certain that the "MMGW/Climate Change" SCAM is a scam.
I don't bother with Atlantic. It is primarily, almost exclusively, a leftist propaganda outlet, and Fake News center.

Great. Pseudoscience now sets national transportation policy.

The Atlantic is a peer-reviewed science journal? Gee, who knew? (Of course, for lefties, peer pressure has replaced both peer review and science when it comes to climate proselytizing.)

Ooh. There’s a list of deniers I see.
How very ‘korrect thought’ of them.
They’re making a list and checking it twice.

'Climate' is what you tell somebody standing at the foot of the high dive ladder, frozen in fright, blocking the line.

Only got about 1/3 through the article before bailing.
1st issue - coal. It keeps all of us, and the economy, alive and prospering.
2nd - go to any of those railroad websites and you'll see the many measures that they are taking to protect our environment.
There have been many articles and discussions here on LCom about the liberal hypocrisies about coal. No need to cite any; we all can quickly come up with more than a few. Now they're going after another industry that keeps Our Country thriving.
(another thought - maybe should have paraphrased John McLaughlin - ISSUE ONE! .... RIP John ...)

"Climate denial" is a Democrat euphemism for "common sense."

I love it when I can see visual cues that tell me it's fine to skip something because I will have missed nothing of importance. CNN, Washington Post, NTY, Atlantic...

We gotta be nice to the railroads. How else we going to get to Hawaii after OAC's green deal kicks in?

Doesn't that rich demonrat guy from Omaha own the railroads? The one that spilled oil from Canada all over the place? I can't think of his name but he's the one who said his secretary pays more in taxes than he does.

If you look at the carbon footprint to move one pound of freight by truck vs train, any idiot can see the train emits less. Anyway, doesn't AOC want us to use trains instead of cars. Soon these elitists, who will fly in their private jets, will want us to use horses since bicycles use chemical based tires. Oh, but horses fart!!! What a problem for only them to solve by voting for them.

First of all: Carbon Dioxide, at 400 parts per million in the atmosphere, is NOT pollution. It is an essential plant nutrient. The earth has visibly more vegetation, as measured by satellites, as a result of the increase in CO2 in the air. THAT's a proveable fact. The RR companies can say that and even untrue things until the cows come home in this country because we have freedom of speech.
#12, you're thinking of Warren Buffet. He bought Burlington Northern RR in '09 and then lobbied against pipelines making the RR co. the only economic means of transporting North Dakota (fracked) oil to refineries. Burlington routes do not go thru Eastern Canada where the horrific train crash and explosion killed people. BTW, Atlantic, if you want to do a story. Buffet worked for Berkshire Hathaway selling insurance products as tax shelters while lobbying for higher estate taxes..... which made his tax shelters more valuable.

"There has so far been — as the IPCC confirms — no measurable increase in droughts, floods or storms worldwide, no reversal in the continuing rapid decline in deaths due to insect-borne diseases, and no measurable impacts of the continuing very slow rise in global sea levels. In stark terms, Bangladesh is still gaining land from sedimentation in its rivers’ deltas, has suffered no increase in cyclones, but has benefited from reduced malnourishment to the tune of billions of dollars from higher crop yields as a result of carbon dioxide emissions."

Can't wait until liberals start lying down on the train tracks in protest. All the train needs is a cow catcher on the front to push them aside.
