2020 candidate Pete Buttigieg blasted the hypocrisy of evangelicals supporting President Donald Trump in an interview Sunday. The Democratic mayor of South Bend, Indiana, was asked on NBC’s Meet the Press about his comments calling into question Trump’s belief in god. “How do you square that assessment with the fact that the Evangelical Christian community is so devoted to his candidacy,” NBC anchor Chuck Todd asked. “It’s something that really frustrates me because the hypocrisy is unbelievable,” Buttigieg replied. “Here you have somebody who not only acts in a way that is not consistent with anything that I hear

He is wrong on so many levels here. He is the very last one to be challenging our faith. Given how he himself lives is a stench of sin in God´s nostrils. Attacking the faith of the majority of this nation is not the way to win hearts.

Unless Jesus wants to come back and run for president, there is never going to be a perfect man or woman running.
At least Donald Trump knows that it is evil to kill babies in the womb, and even after they are born. There sure isn´t a Demon-Rat in the bunch that knows that. They all seem to believe that infanticide is pretty darn cool!!!!!
And Donald Trump prays, and includes prayers in his daily life. If the Demon-Rat candidates go to church, it´s once or twice a year for a photo-op to try to fool the sheeple!!!
So who does little Petey think we should support if not Trump given the choices that we have?!?!?!?

God has always used flawed men and women (and the Devil himself) to serve his purposes - not infrequently against their own self-interests. Even a superficial reading of Old Testament history makes that abundantly clear. Evangelicals would prefer Trump or our leaders to be better ´men´ but we will take what God provides. His ways are not ours.

What exactly is "the Evangelical Christian community"? Some amorphous blob of "religious people" who like Trump? SOME individual evangelicals do. Some do not. Buttigieg´s statement should be met with as much suspicion (and derision) as those that begin "the Black community" or "the LGBTQ community," etc. These communities don´t vote en masse. They´re made up of people, each one an individual. I´m so tired of politicians thinking they can lump us all together as voting blocks and not consider us as thinking human beings. Enough!

President Trump is who he is.
Every Dem candidate is a liar and deceiver. They try to mold and shape themselves like the proverbial wax nose to be whatever they need to be at any given moment... ready to change again as the scene changes.
chameleons and shape-shifters
"Peeto" (hat-tip #4) has such a demure, soft-spoken manner but he´s corrupt.
They´re all trying to out-radical each other, which makes all of them sound incredibly stupid.

Just noisy seagulls.

He may come across as reasonable and non-threatening, but he´s selling a sweet poison and he won´t be able to hide that forever. Besides, how can you trust a guy who can´t sit up straight and look you in the eye?

If Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg is not aware of it, God used sinners to bring about His will; for example:
Noah got drunk.
Abraham lied about his wife.
Jacob was a deceiver.
Moses murdered an Egyptian.
Rahab was a harlot.
Samson had serious problems with lust and anger.
David was an adulterer.
Paul persecuted the church.
Peter denied Christ.
In St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, it is written that God does not tolerate human pride and chooses people who have nothing to brag about to bring about His will. (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)
And, lest Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg may have forgotten, Scripture teaches believers, judge not: “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:3)

I am quite sure that the left would want us to be idealists and insist on a preacher, or nothing. Although I like Huckabee, not one single man from that republican primary field could have moved the ball one inch in Washington. I´m not sure any of them would have even been able to get a conservative on the supreme court. Trump is the perfect tool for the job at hand, which is draining the elitist swamp and cleaning up corrupt agencies.
You democrats go ahead and go with your ideal candidate. They will lose every time, because America is not as far left as the leftist political class.

FTA: "with anything that I hear in scripture or in church, where it’s about lifting up the least among us and taking care of strangers, which is another word for immigrants"
Wow, now that is a stretch. How in the world is someone from a foreign country "among us"? They´re not, but post modernism gets to redefine words into what they DO NOT mean to further an agenda. And, who lifts up, according to Scripture? And, how was the stranger, Ruth taken care of? And, why did the "rich man without any name" end up where he did? He was a Jew, Lazarus was a Jew. The rich man failed, for him, an easy, a super easy command per Deuteronomy 15:7-11; and note the IN YOUR LAND part. It does NOT say, open your hand wide to foreigners but sadly, American Christians are bereft of biblical knowledge so Mayor Pete and other Marxists get away with, "Hath God said?" all the time.
Using Pete´s argument, God is also an unbelievable hypocrite for saying that David was a man after God´s own heart, even after the Bathsheba deal along with Uriah´s murder. I wonder why? Hmmm, I wonder.

Buttboy has a serious egotism problem. He wants to be considered important. He wants to be a leader not because he has a message to give but just to be important. Just like all the rest of the egotistic Democrat herd. So here´s what it means. Egotism is a base and ignoble sin; an insurmountable barrier across the spiritual path. Sin means to miss the mark or make a big mistake and it blocks us from our conscious contact with God. Since these Dems are Godless wanderers on Earth, it is no wonder then how they behave. They all will fail because their god is personal power and not the One who has All Power.

My, my Young Pete is quite the theologian.
Firstly, we have absolutely no problem with legal immigrants who come here intending to assimilate, be productive, and contribute. If they need temporary help to get on their feet I am happy to assist. We do not appreciate those who come here ILLEGALLY for no other reason than free benefits; when after receiving their freebees they proceed to trash the country which provides them.
Yes....our Lord tells us to help those less fortunate BUT as neighbor to neighbor, family member to family member NOT via government assistance. I would like to ask Young Pete to show me the verse insc
scripture where Jesus tells the poor to go back to their villages and wait for Rome to send them their monthly supplies. I have looked and I cannot find it.
Also Young Pete (and AOC) should be aware that scripture also states that if a man will NOT work neither shall he eat. We have no Christian obligation to help deadbeats.

It amazes me that the Left often talk about separation of church and state but then want to drag religion into politics when it suits them. Some Evangelicals like to drag their religion into their politics, but they aren’t fussing about separation of church and state the same way the Left does.
I think folks need to keep the religion comments out of their arguments when they are running for prez.

A wiser man than Buttigieg would look into why Evangelicals are so convinced that Democrats hate them they overlooked The Donald™´s history as a bit of a rascal and help put him in office then do something to try to change that perception.....but Pete isn´t wise and just says what he really thinks, so secure in his arrogance and stupidity he really thinks the people he is targeting don´t realize he´s talking about them.
But to be fair to the "man"....he´d be run out of the Democrat Party on a rail if he dared treat "Enemies of the People" (aka us) like human beings and he isn´t so stupid that he doesn´t know that.
If I were The Donald™, this one would be kept and used frequently in the unlikely case he becomes the nominee of the Democrat Party.
