On Monday, I wrote about a mass shooting at a school in the Philippines. Most of the mass shootings I write about are, unfortunately, American, but when there is one outside of the United States, I try to talk about it if for no other reason than to remind people that these aren't "uniquely American," despite what some people claim. Earlier today I saw a cartoon with a man running down a sidewalk and a policewoman jump out and shoot him. It had no explanation and I had no idea what it referenced. Welp, now I do.

Re #2, no guns are not banned in Canada. They have just banned "dangerous guns".....a stupid concept because ANY gun can be dangerous, including one which is 100% hand made including the hand made gunpowder.....like the gun in "gun free Japan" used to kill former prime minister Abe a few years ago. It looked to me like the shooter was wounded, sat down, reloaded the gun, you can see the use of the 10 round stripper clip, which is emblematic of the SKS rifle system. He reloads the rifle, then flops back, seemingly to rest, but doesn't get back up, at least in the short video. He may have been bleeding out at that point. A sad event. If this is some idiot who decided to kill cops because he couldn't get a date.....that's just something that I cannot quite wrap my head around. Are these guys unable to figure out how to meet a girl? Maybe figure out some place where you might meet women and make a point to go there? Some sort of a class in Jr. college? Perhaps take a bath, get some decent clothes and start to look like you aren't living your Mom's basement?

The Anthony Fauci, COVID-19 origins cover-up

On her final day as director of national intelligence Friday, Tulsi Gabbard released damning declassified evidence accusing Dr. Anthony Fauci of causing the COVID-19 pandemic, engaging in a cover-up about the virus’s origins in China and lying to Congress about it. Perhaps most disturbingly, he was assisted by the US intelligence community.[snip] Meanwhile, the Washington Post did not publish a word about Gabbard’s Fauci revelations. Nor, for that matter, did any mainstream outlet on the left. The same news organizations that helped cover up the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, now overwhelmingly believed to have come from a leak from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology, are still refusing to come clean.

The first words out of my son’s mouth were “Mom” and “Dad,” words that capture the beautiful, natural reality of human life and family. Yet New York’s Democrat-controlled legislature has passed a bill that seeks to erase these foundational terms from state law, replacing “mother” with the clinical “gestating parent” and “father” with the soulless “non-gestating parent.” “Paternity” becomes “parentage,” and “putative father” yields to “alleged parent.” This Orwellian rewrite now sits on Governor Kathy Hochul’s desk.[snip]Mothers gestate and give birth; fathers provide the other half of the biological equation.

Scandal-scarred Rep. Ilhan Omar and her hubby have gone from the penthouse to the poorhouse. The husband of the Minnesota “Squad” firebrand — who once valued his venture capital and wine empire at up to $30 million — now claims to be pocketing as little as $200 a year. [snip] Omar claimed the total value of the couple’s assets was between $20,000 and $125,000 for 2025, and their credit card and student-loan debt hovered between $30,000 and $100,000 — putting their net worth at negative-$80,000-$95,000, according to the report.

It’s essentially one of those “kids get to drive a car” rides — in other words, slow go-karts. They’re loud, and they allow kids to be in control. But the California bureaucrats are now telling Disney that it must convert the Autopia ride vehicles to electric by 2027 or shut the attraction down.

Over a dozen community members demanded action against what they described as Islamophobic comments made by a Peoria Unified School District governing board member. During a June 9 district board meeting, speakers said Janelle Bowles had shared posts on social media rejecting Islam as a religion, claimed Muslim families indoctrinate their children and suggested the religion would take over the country. Several district staff and parents asked for her resignation or the governing board to formally censure her. Students told the board Bowles’ comments made Muslim students feel unsafe in their own schools and normalized prejudice against them.

Convicted killer Karmelo Anthony has claimed he’s “penniless” and can’t afford a lawyer for his appeal — despite his family collecting $625,000 in crowdfunding for his legal defense and “living expenses,” according to a report. Anthony, 19, made the assertion in a notice of appeal filed after he was found guilty of fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf and sentenced to 35 years behind bars, according to a report by ABC WFAA. Anthony — who was moved to a Texas state prison Wednesday — is “penniless, destitute, and indigent person, too poor to employ counsel to represent me on the appeal,” reads the appeal form.

Billy Blair, 74, and his wife, Virginia Carol Blair, 71, were killed after 17-year-old Cordarius Hobbs broke into their home last Wednesday, WLBT reported. Hobbs has since been charged with capital murder. Cops swooped on the Mendenhall home just after noon for a welfare check after worried relatives couldn’t make contact — but they encountered gunfire upon their arrival.
