DHS Restarts Visa Process for Hospitals’
Foreign Doctors

The Department of Homeland Security has restarted processing visas for thousands of foreign doctors from 39 high-risk countries who have been hired by U.S. hospitals. Pro-migration advocates are celebrating what they hope will be a greater foreign inflow into American hospitals: It “is a great development for physicians and health care in the U.S.,” lawyer Curtis Morrison, who works for employers, told the New York Times. But the renewed inflow is bad for American patients and bad for the many Americans who want to become doctors, said Kevin Lynn, the director of the Institute for Sound Public Policy. “This year, over 1,300 [American] graduates from medical schools did not get [hospital training]

The THEFT of foreign-born physicians from elsewhere around the world is thoroughly immoral. I can see temporary training visas, but we should not permit any possibility of permanent residency or citizenship. Some 30 years ago I interviewed a physician for whom a very rural West Texas city had built a clinic building to lure him under a federal program for underserved municipalities. Many thousands were wasted when he left after only ONE year to practice in a bigger American city with his Green Card in hand. We did not hire him but someone did and I am sure he's sitting pretty after practicing in the USA. I see obviously foreign named doctors everywhere and usually in higher-paid specialties like ophthalmology. (They aren't stupid.) We have stolen the best and brightest from the third world and in so doing have condemned those countries to perpetual third world medical care. Hospitals hire them because they think they are cheaper - they aren't. They come on Visas and escape to permanent independent practice while American caregivers charitably give their time in the nations from which these people come. This needs to stop.

I recently experienced a couple of foreign doctors at the hospital I damn sure wasn't impressed. This stinks to high heaven and I bet they will work cheap . I wonder if that will be reflected on our bills ?

Well, we can have a different point of view on this. I have had superb medical care all over the world from doctors regardless of nationality. The key is where you get it done not who you get it from. When I was briefly hospitalized in Ghana, I was much more vigilant to ensure that sharps were uncapped in my presence for IVs compared to the African doctor who treated me in Switzerland, for example. #3 has a legitimate and persuasive moral argument, as he so often does, but I also see another side to this. As a corollary what he is describing, the controlled immigration of talented and highly-qualified people into the United States benefits my country provided they come here to work and become Americans. Canada, for example, invests a great deal in training Canadian-born bdoctors who ultimately decide to move to the United States being more highly compensated in a less rigid healthcare system. At the same time, Canada has had a huge influx of superb South African doctors who moved there over the last 20 years because they didn't like where their home country was headed. Should Canada send South Africans back? Should we send the Canadians back? Granted, Canada is not a third world country (jokes aside), and South Africa is both a first world and third world country depending on where you are, so it's not quite the same. But I guess my preference would be to let talented doctors emigrate to wherever they most want to be and serve the population and country they find there.

If a doctor is capable then I don't care about where he came from. I suspect these H-1B doctors are being underpaid and they shouldn't be.

They just never lear. The head of a Texas Islamic group that rented out a taxpayer-funded waterpark for an event that was advertised as “Muslim only” runs a childhood education center with the exact same unfortunate ‘Learing Center’ typo first seen at an infamous daycare in Minneapolis. The “Excellence Early Learing Center,” as its misspelled website header reads — located in the Fort Worth suburb of Hurst — offers a variety of programs for youngsters from infants to pre-K, and promises to provide children with “the loving, personal care that they need to thrive and feel confident.” The center boasts “multiculturalism, small classroom sizes, healthy eating and a warm, loving environment that

NBC’s Today debased itself on Wednesday by sending former First Daughter and fourth-hour co-host Jenna Bush Hager to interview former President Barack Obama for a syrupy sit-down about the opening of his Obama Presidential Center next month. The whole segment was as wishy-washy as Obama’s biography and omitted the pesky facts about the hefty admission costs, budget overruns, laying waste to the community’s landscape, a lack of compliance with the norm of past presidential record-keeping, and years of delays. Unsurprisingly, there were a whopping four teases for this interview, starting off the top with co-host Savannah Guthrie stating they’d reveal “what he hopes it will inspire for generations to come”

The bill was introduced by Rep. Greg Murphy, a Republican from North Carolina, according to an April 16 release from his office. Florida Republican Sen.
