DENVER (KDVR) — An attempt to save Denver’s only lesbian bar has failed only days after the community raised more than $80,000 in donations to keep it open as infighting among owners and staff led to the business’s immediate dissolution. The Pearl, one of just a few dozen lesbian bars in the U.S., on Saturday announced it would close at the end of the month after falling behind on paying staff and performers as well as building costs to maintain its location in the historic Mercury Cafe. The Pearl had only been open for a year and had more than a couple past problems during its existence.

Comments:

A lesbian bar in Denver closes. Sounds like a lot of drama for a bar in business for around a year.

A bunch of mean, angry women getting together and drinking. Add sex and unstable lesbian relationships to the mix and you get a volatile crowd. While I'm sure they envisioned The Pearl as a fun place for gay women to go, reality kicked in and it was not the safe space they thought it would be.

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is widely known as a liberal jurist who can reliably be expected to vote with her leftist colleagues, Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, on virtually every issue, as the three mostly march in lockstep. Ketanji Brown Jackson, in particular, seems to decide cases based on her own personal opinion, not relying too much on that pesky old Constitution. But now Sotomayor can add a new adjective to her profile: “obnoxious.” The Obama-appointed jurist took the unusual step of making a personal attack on a fellow justice, Brett Kavanaugh, at an appearance at the University of Kansas School of Law on April 7.

The Constitution achieves this purpose by protecting our natural rights and liberties from concentrated power and excessive democracy. Our Constitution creates a separation of powers and federalism—truly for the first time in modern history—to prevent the government from becoming so strong that it threatens our natural rights. Federalist No. 10 proposed the idea that the great threat to our rights comes from majority faction.Human history teaches us, alas, that numerical majorities frequently seek to control government, and use the state to violate the rights of the minority.
