Paxton Makes Thune an Offer He Can’t Refuse

It’s blindingly obvious that Senate Majority Leader John Thune would much rather have Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) back in Congress for six more years than see him replaced by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. But Cornyn’s failure to capture anywhere near 50 percent of last week’s primary vote, plus the prospect of an ugly and expensive runoff, doesn’t bode well for his future. Despite the far left and genuinely weird Democrat nominee, James Talarico, Cornyn’s unpopularity may reduce GOP turnout in the general election enough to cause his Senate seat to flip blue.

Uniparty Thune. Whatttta guy. The Rs haven’t had a Leader (Sen or Cong) since….. Newt? Does the same cabal control Thune as the one who controls Roberts? Inquiring minds want to know. BTW: Mexico does not have a monopoly on corruption. Just sayin.

A lotta folks had many misgivings about Thune prior to his election as Majority leader, I guess they were correct! Who coulda predicted the viciousness of his treason? I wonder who owns him...China, Soros, Reid, most assuredly not the People of South Dakota nor America.

The Democrats’ Epic Fury Over Iran Strikes 10 replies

It was hardly necessary to consult Nostradamus to predict that the Democrats, who profess to abhor oppressive authoritarian theocracies, would denounce President Trump’s decision to topple the government of Iran — the very definition of such a regime. Nor was it a surprise that they downplay or simply ignore the obvious elation with which the Iranians themselves greeted the long overdue demise of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It is striking, however, that the Democrats fail to see that their reflexive attacks on Trump for taking action (snip) reinforces the public perception that their party is weak and out of touch.

“How do you not stand?” may go down as one of the most revealing sentences ever uttered by a president. During an all-American State of the Union address, President Donald Trump laid out a vision rooted in national sovereignty, public safety, and measurable success. He touted declines in crime, falling inflation, a secure border, and a renewed commitment to the American people. Yet seven times, Democrats refused

A few days ago, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) gave America some very welcome news. During a press conference he said that his Democratic members had two choices with regard to President Trump‘s upcoming State of the Union address: “The two options that are in front of us, in our house, is either attend with silent defiance, or to not attend.” This will definitely be a win-win for everyone who tunes in Tuesday evening to hear what the President has to say about his first-year accomplishments and future plans for the country.

tates don't come much bluer than Maryland. My father-in-law, who lived much of his adult life in Maryland, was heavily involved in local politics there, as a conservative Democrat - there were some then, and in Maryland, even in the '60s and '70s, you registered Democrat, or you were shut out of the process. He has told me on numerous occasions that there wasn't an elected official in Maryland who had two IQ points to rub together. Advertisement Case in point: Governor Wes Moore, who on Wednesday was eviscerated by Press Secretary Karolyn Leavitt for his action prohibiting local law enforcement from working with Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Redistricting Betrayal in Virginia 15 replies

Five years ago, two-thirds of Virginia voters passed a referendum that ostensibly eliminated partisan gerrymandering from the congressional redistricting process that follows each decennial census. This amended the commonwealth’s constitution such that redistricting would thence forth be carried out by the Virginia Redistricting Commission (VRC) rather than state politicians burdened by conflicts of interest. This bill of goods was sold to the Old Dominion’s voters as “election reform” by a very expensive public relations campaign run by various Democrat-affiliated activist groups. It was obvious that the VRC would be jettisoned when it no longer served Democrat interests.
The SAVE Act: Why Are Senate Republicans Dithering? 13 replies

In almost all midterm congressional elections, the President’s party loses seats in the House of Representatives. The only exceptions occurred in 1902, 1934, 1998, and 2002. This obviously means the razor thin Republican House majority — and thus the GOP’s governing trifecta — will be in considerable peril next November. This being the case, common sense dictates that certain crucial bills should be prioritized by Congress and sent to President Trump’s desk for signature post haste. Considering the insecure and chaotic manner in which federal elections are conducted in blue states, the SAVE Act clearly falls into the must pass category.

In a big blow to the Trump-deranged community, Melania Trump’s eponymous movie knocked the lights out on its opening weekend. It came in at No. 3 overall, and its $7 million box office take in three days is almost unheard of for a documentary. “Melania” is crushing it on Rotten Tomatoes, too, with a 99% audience score on the “popcornometer” easily besting the sneering critics’ 10% on the Tomatometer ratings. Like everything to do with Donald Trump’s two presidencies, whatever the leftist media’s opinion, the American public thinks the opposite. The inverse media-ometer is one of the most reliable gauges of public sentiment in this country.

Veteran conservative commentator Victor Davis Hanson on Monday shared an update on the major health issue that he announced at the end of 2025 that forced him to step away from his podcast and other media appearances. Hanson started his update — which he shared on X — with some good news, saying the removal of a cancerous lung mucinous adenoma carcinoma and the lower right lung lobe in early January was successful. But he said his recovery has been “slowed” down by a post-operation aneurism, which has led to “low red blood counts, fatigue, and bouts of arterial fibrillation.”

During the 2025 gubernatorial election the voters of Virginia believed they were choosing between pragmatic Democrat Rep. Abigail Spanberger and lackluster Republican Lieutenant Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears. The former was well funded and portrayed favorably by the corporate “news” media as a centrist, while the latter struggled to raise money and was labeled an extremist because of her strong support of gun rights. Spanberger won by double digits and most Virginians thought they were getting a slightly more liberal governor than her predecessor, Glenn Youngkin. Yet the moment she took office, it became obvious that Gov. Spanberger was no moderate.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., likes to argue that the “whole point” of protesting is to make people “uncomfortable.” Debate. Dissent. Running highly misleading political ads on TV. These are all part of our great tradition of political discourse. In this, as in so much else, the Democrat darling is incorrect. Taking to the streets to disrupt the lives of average citizens is a leftist ideal, not an American one. It’s antithetical to the highest virtue of republicanism, namely, minding your own business.

But here in a hotel ballroom, the party’s beleaguered moderates have another message — not so fast. It’s not really surprising. It also serves as a reminder of why Donald J. Trump was elected in 2024.
