In yet another blatant betrayal of President Donald Trump and the America First agenda, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has once again shown his true RINO colors by flatly refusing to make any changes to Senate rules that would allow the critical SAVE America Act to pass.
This comes as Trump ramps up pressure on the GOP establishment to secure our elections before the midterms, but Thune is more interested in protecting the swamp than fighting for the American people.
“Yeah, that’s not going to happen,” Thune said on Monday when pressed by ABC News about altering the Senate’s 60-vote threshold to advance legislation.

It is easy to blame Thune for everything, and he is and always has been a problem. But when Republicans won and controlled the Senate, they were the ones who elected him to be majority leader. They could have elected someone else, and they didn't!

This is on every republican senator who voted for Thune as majority leader as poster #2 has noted. They all knew he was a McConnell lackey, yet they put him in this critical position.
I am amazed that President Trump is able to work his magic on important matters, but this one is going to be a major challenge for him.
If you have a republican senator, contact them asking if they voted for Thune as majority leader, and if they plan to vote for him the next time they must choose a majority leader. He was selected 29-24 on a secret ballot.

Same as it ever was. There is always a handful of Republicans in the Senate willing to stall, delay or sabatoge the Republican agenda. All the way back to the Republican Senators who told Nixon he needed to resign.

Thune is showing leadership and character. The filibuster insures that a bare minority can not cause major swings in our laws. Just think about all the laws the demo-rats would shove up our rear ends
if it was not for the filibuster.

Thune is showing character and protecting us from constant swings in the law. Just imaging what the demo-rats would pass with a thin majority.

But the Republicans are still better than the Democrats, right? Take one look at our debt, and you will realize the problem. Our 'leaders' are for sale. Both parties.

I believe that Trump can still use an EO to secure the 2026 and 2028 elections with voter ID. If ever there was a need to enforce national security, this is it. Even the Supreme Court with it's embedded snakes can not deny that cheating is a major concern that always benefits the same party.

Thune has not gotten Trump's appointees passed. He won't change the blue slip. Thune has not gotten any Republican legislation passed that requires 60 votes, meaning anything other than spending bills are not passed. As a result, Trump cannot get his U.S. Attorney's confirmed, many appointments are for 120 days, then judges are appointing executive positions. The Republican Congress is allowing District Judges to take over decision making of the Executive Branch. It is a disaster, and Thune will not address the problem. It is very exasperating, as in all this, Thune is very calm, and is incapable of even getting upset. The man can hardly be heard, when he speaks. What is Thune doing about the shutdown of Homeland Security? Absolutely nothing. Why did the Republicans enter Trump's second term with not a single plan to get anything done? Just milling around, singing a song.

#8. You won't have long to wait for your answer. When they don't pass the Save Act by honoring the filibuster the Republicans will lose Congress in 2026 and the Whitehouse in 2028. By February of 2028 the Democrats will eliminate it and the Republicans and two party system will be dead and your question will be answered.

You can be sure that if the Democrats get a majority in the Senate, they will nuke the filibuster if it gets in their way. Schumer has said as much.

I understand the concern about doing away with the 60-vote threshold for passing legislation. If it is done away with, then, when the Democrats are back in power, they could do whatever they want with a simple majority. Well, consider this: if the Republicans would grow a spine and advance the conservative agenda that the people voted for, perhaps that would mitigate the likelihood that Democrats would win any elections. Currently, the Republicans are feckless, and the Democrats are getting their way anyway by prohibiting any conservative legislation. So what do you get by voting for Republicans? Not much.

#8/9 should read #13 -- that is not leadership, that is just doing business as usual in the swamp for Republicans. Leadership would be using all parliamentary rules to force action. It would be forcing a real talking filibuster rather than the fake filibusters used by the lazy senators. Thune says the senate time is too precious to do the talking filibuster -- the Senate works three days a week and has dog shows so that is an out and out lie. The Senate "rules" should not be more important than the Constitution, but they are to these "elite" good ole boy Senators. Our nation is being destroyed in part because of all these Senate rules, which we all know will be immediately abandoned by democrats whenever they need to to get something they want.

Republicans take the high road, Democrats mine the road.
Guess who wins.
