News that hardliner Mojtaba Khamenei had been chosen as Iran’s new Supreme Leader sent crude oil prices surging more than 30 percent in the span of a few hours Monday. Khamenei takes the place of his father, who held the position from 1989 until his death on Feb. 28 during Israeli and U.S. bombing raids on Tehran. Oil future briefly approaching $120 per barrel before settling back to around $106 in early trading Monday, still more than 15 percent higher than at the close of markets on Friday and still the first time in four years prices topped the $100 per barrel threshold.

Yup: And it's going to get worse until we are finished with Iran. It's not pleasant, but it's time Iran got a new government.

So open up more U.S. oil fields and bring prices down again! We shouldn't be depending on ME oil in the first place!

Opportunists taking advantage of the war. Consider that the US produces enough oil to meet most of our own needs. Global supplies are tightening and therefore our prices go up as well. Market driven prices don't always work to our advantage.

We're fighting an existential battle against the Islamic Regime in Iran, trying to prevent them from acquiring a nuclear device. It's almost a certainty that they would use an atomic bomb if they possessed one and all I see in the mainstream news is fears of the cost of oil and gasoline prices rising. Naturally the democrats are chiming in trying to use this against the republicans and Trump. Will the left ever get their priorities straight?

The newest social media influencing campaign has begun: High gas prices. They have already done the same thing with high electric bills. It's an election year and there are voters to be manipulated!

2 words. Domestic production. Another 2 words. Energy independence. The US uses approx 20 million barrels a day. We refine 17.94 million barrels a day. More refining capacity, more drilling, more pumping. Also more nuclear reactors. More natural gas.

Very temporary. Purely speculative. There is no place where there is any actual shortage. Plenty of oil is in "the pipeline", which is actually hundreds of huge ships. In a week or two, ships will again sail in and out of the Arabian Gulf, and the speculators will get burned. No actual shortage exists, only an insurance company realignment of premiums which has resulted in temporary stoppage while the new rates are set and paid.

#4 has it right. One would think the opportunists might be a bit more circumspect about this. If the dhimmicrats get back into power, they will most certainly beat the snot out of oil companies in every way possible. They have promised to do so. High gasoline prices at the mid-terms will be a hard issue for conservatives to overcome given the high rate of economic illiteracy and lack of understanding about the dangers of a nuclear armed, terror sponsoring Iran.

A prime example of what liberals will do to gasoline prices is CA. All of their refineries will be gone soon and they are importing oil. Prices are expected to hit $10/gallon this year.

They’re not on our side. Millions of Republican voters are scratching their heads, wondering why they should send Republicans to Washington, D.C. when they refuse to represent their voters. Voter ID has the approval of 84% of the American public — that’s Democrats and Republicans! But John Thune refuses to pass the legislation with his Republican majority, knowing that the GOP will then lose the midterms. He really owes it to Republican voters to explain why he hates them so much. That’s the least he could do. What a wicked man. Thune was out bloviating about how he can’t pass the SAVE America Act again on Wednesday. This guy is the absolute worst.

Rep. Kevin Kiley's, Calif., departure from the GOP this week has further narrowed the party's majority in the lower chamber and has him thinking that some lawmakers may follow his lead and create an independent block in Congress, or even a third party. Kiley formally left the GOP this week and became an independent, though he continues to caucus with the GOP. He previously announced his intent to seek reelection as an independent instead of as a Republican. The move followed California Democrats redrawing his congressional district to heavily favor their party.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., says putting the SAVE America Act on the Senate floor for a “one-and-done” vote, as seemingly suggested by Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., would be a “disastrous” failure. “We ignore our base at our own peril, and we don’t want to dispirit our base,” Johnson said. “And right now, that’s kind of the path we’re going on.” After an enormous amount of pressure from the Republican base and the White House, Thune announced this week that he plans to bring the SAVE America Act up for a floor vote. The legislation would require voter ID and proof of American citizenship to register to vote.

Before the FBI subpoenaed election records involving Arizona's largest county this month, congressional staffers dispatched to monitor Maricopa County’s vote-counting process in 2024 reported "alarming" concerns that completed mail-in ballots were stored in the same room as blanks and were sorted by a third-party printing company that had no government officials or partisan observers on site, according to a copy of the observer's report obtained by Just the News. The concerns about one of Maricopa's third-party run centers were detailed in a memo written during the 2024 presidential election in which Trump won, including in Arizona. That memo memorialized the observations of a Republican staff member —

FBI Director Kash Patel has personally led the effort to review the operations code-named Crossfire Hurricane, Round River, Plasmic Echo and Arctic Frost that stretched from summer 2016 to January 2025, uncovering evidence of a far-reaching dragnet that in some cases may have been predicated on false,

That effort, the New York Times reported, was “particularly aggressive in how it would erode the fortunes of billionaires” and “would cut in half the wealth of the typical billionaire after 15 years, according to two economists who worked with the Sanders campaign on the plan.”
