You had to figure that Disney's live(ish)-action Snow White reboot would lose money, but even my eyes watered when I read this morning that the oft-derided musical lost about $170 million. But get this, had Disney not produced the movie in the U.K. — and received a reported $65 million (!!!) in tax credits — then Snow White would have lost the Mouse House a jaw-dropping $235 million...
...and entered the Hollywood Hall of Shame as one of the 10 biggest money-losing movie of all time, somewhere between Disney's 2012 stinker, John Carter, and Peter Berg's Battleship from the same year.
I could go over all the reasons

When I was a kid Disney was"The Man". On Sunday me and my siblings would take our baths early. We'd get our school clothes together and wait with anticipation for the show to start. The best was when there was a good cartoon and a show. I think that is why I still enjoy historical fiction. Disney taught me a lot about American history with great serials. Mom would make popcorn with extra butter and we each got our own bottle of pop which was special. Good memories. Now, not so much. Which is a shame because there are still good stories to tell and new ways to tell them. But there is no need to ruin tried and true entertainment with "woke" nonsense for no good reason. Disney let us be kids. We enjoyed Donald and Mickey and Zorro and all the rest. The stories were interesting or silly and funny. Good actors making good entertainment. I'm surprised that they have not tried to transition Mickey into Minnie's best girlfriend. They took an exceptional product and beat it and us over the head with their nonsense. A lot of people walked away.

Disney can’t lose enough money to suit me. I want those anti-American perverts gone from my country.

Yes 1, very much my experience. Those great serials: Davey Crockett, Johnny Trumaine and the Sons of Liberty IIRC. Zorro, and I think the Swamp Fox. Real American heroes! Too bad they now devote themselves to degrading, if not erasing, America history and culture, and replacing it with Woke, Globalist dreck. I wish SW would have lost enough to put the studio into receivership. The new owners couldn't have been any worse.

The original was about as perfect as entertainment gets. Some exec thought a remake would be a good idea. Not all his idea, I guess, and others had to sign off on it.
Might as well try to remake 'Casablanca'.

Maybe we can start with the obvious. With their ruining the story, Snow White no longer is.

A non-white "Snow White"....who is played by a mouthy, obnoxious, hateful little witch who publicly slams white folks.....just doesn't get people into the theaters.

Pardon me, was there a remake of "Snow White" recently? I had no idea. Apparently, I didn't miss anything.

Every time Disney flopped and lost money, we would ask "Are they ever going to learn?" No need to ask any longer because we know the answer. I checked and sadly, the website disneysucks.com no longer exists. They must have paid millions to buy that name and close it down. It was very embarrassing for them.

Here's one thing that was never explained in this new Snow White: How did two people, the King and Queen, of Germanic ethnicity conceive a Latino daughter?

Disney is a classic example of "Go woke, Go Broke", not only relating to the "talent" they chose to represent them but in the decisions of the company itself. They have been tripping over their own feet for years. They are arrogant and liberally stupid.

I'm amazed that a government would subsidize this to the tune of 65 million Euros(?). Talk about money wasted. What's UK debt?

"Reboot" is where they made the biggest mistake.
Snow White IS Snow White! Change the story and it ISN'T Snow White.
How bad can they screw up Cinderella now?
What could they do to Song of the South?

Nothing to add about Snow White and i never saw John Carter but I loved Battleship! They bring the USS Missouri out of Moth balls for Pete's sake. Manned by retired Navy vets who were giving tours on the ship.
How do you not enjoy that?

John Carter is an excellent movie filled with action and adventure that I can enjoy with my grandchildren. The storyline is a blend of imagination and intelligence. And Sully is right about Battleship, a great movie based on a Hasbro game. The problem with Battleship was two-fold: 1) the beginning could have been edited better. I start the movie 20 minutes in, and 2) they put it up against Avengers: Endgame. No movie could have gone up against that and stood a chance. They should have played it 3 months prior; that way, those of us waiting for Endgame would have gone to see it. But if I had enough money to only see one, it would have been Endgame. I own Battleship, not Endgame.

Re #13, what they HAVE done with Song of the South is absolutely CANCEL IT.
You cannot purchase a legit DVD of that wonderful movie. All that are out there are crummy pirated copies, sad to say.
Disney refuses to sell copies. No doubt they call it racist, but the literal hero of the movie is Uncle Remus, the wonderful, lovable, happy singing black man.
Of course, in the bizarro world where Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben have been kidnapped and disappeared, of course beloved Uncle Remus just isn't permitted out of the basement.

I remember when I came home with the movie 13th Warrior along with some dreck the kids wanted to watch. We watched both movies and 13th Warrior was the better one. In addition, after watching it, I asked the kids if they noticed what was missing from that movie. Blank stares. I say, no vulgarity, no swearing, no brief nudity,.... If you've read any background on Tolkein or Beowulf, you know that the nordic tales always have have the hero dying... he just dies to the absolute worst villain. That's in 13th. Also, as a kid, I devoured Edgar Rice Burroughs. As a result I loved John Carter. My wife made me watch Battleship and I have got to say, it's a great movie. I dunno why those were money losers. But there's no comparison between those and a woke Schlepping Beauty.
