The Federal Aviation Administration abruptly grounded all flights in and out of El Paso International Airport in Texas for 10 days starting Wednesday morning, citing "special security" instructions, and then lifted the order hours later. A Trump administration official said the Department of Defense disabled Mexican cartel drones that had breached U.S. airspace and that there was no threat to commercial air travel currently. "The temporary closure of airspace over El Paso has been lifted," the FAA said in a post on X. "There is no threat to commercial aviation. All flights will resume as normal."

That was a quick resolution to what could have been a deadly situation. No doubt that the leftist Democrats will attempt to make as big of a political deal as possible out of that resolution, blaming Trump as they always do.

The 10 day halt was a "Wow!" Kind of like the subtle action of a 2x4 hitting you across the head. Glad the problem was cleared up quickly; perhaps it was someone who went over their skis a bit, but hey, it ain't hard to fly a drone over a somewhat narrow creek (Rio Grande at El Paso) with fentanyl worth millions to smugglers. And since the AF base is adjacent to ELP airport, if the smuggler folks decide they need to take out something that is taking out their drones, I'm not sure I want to have commercial or private aircraft flying around. For those not in El Paso, it's a long way to anywhere. If the shut down had been in effect, the nearest major airports to El Paso would be Albuquerque (265 miles) or Midland (300 miles). Airlines would probably have had to increase service to those airports and run buses (5-6 hours) to El Paso from there. Juarez has an airport, primarily serving locations in Mexico. Not sure that would be an acceptable alternative.

Drones are controlled by someone on the ground, and that signal can be traced to the operator. We have a few drones also called Reapers. Just sayin'.

6 and 7 got it. There is no difference between morons with drones or cartels/terrorists with drones. Make it clear this is considered an act of war and lethal consequences might follow any breach of the wrong airspace. IF a moron is killed because they were careless, that has to be on them. Otherwise, you know sooner or later a criminal or terrorist will take down a plane. This is more dangerous than trying to shine a laser into a cockpit. No mercy for that, and there should be no mercy for this. Also, make it clear that the border means nothing as far as this behavior is concerned.

Before shutting down a U.S. airport, even for a day, why has not the president turned cartel facilities in Mexico into smoking ruins?

I used to work in the counter-IED industry. A few years ago, the technology allowed the bad guys to move from planting explosives in the ground to flying them in the air - we quickly developed the capability to electronically suppress that threat, too. Pretty cool stuff.

This is another case where an instant snap judgement had to be made to stop possible Mexican cartel drones from crossing the borderline near the El Paso Airport and either by intention or accident colliding with a commercial aircraft. As soon as it became evident that the threat had diminished or no longer existed, the grounding order was cancelled. But following all that, here come the leftist Democrats making a mountain out of a molehill! But what if the grounding order was not issued and a cartel drone actually collided with a commercial aircraft killing everyone on board? What would the Democrats have said then, and who would they blame?

Trump revokes EPA finding on greenhouse

The Trump administration on Thursday revoked a landmark scientific finding that serves as the legal foundation for federal regulations to limit greenhouse gas emissions, in a devastating blow to efforts to combat climate change. The Environmental Protection Agency's endangerment finding, established under President Barack Obama in 2009, classified carbon dioxide, methane and four other greenhouse gases as a threat to public health and welfare. It underpins regulations under the Clean Air Act that set emissions standards and rules for cars and light trucks, power plants, and oil and gas industry facilities. "Under the process just completed by the EPA, we are officially terminating the so-called endangerment finding,"

According to emails obtained by the great people at Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT), reporters from The New York Times and Politico worked alongside the Biden-Harris administration’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to try and concoct a record of climate leadership for then-Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed campaign. And, when it was all over, one fretted to their fellow liberals about the agency’s future under President Trump. On the latter example, reporter Kevin Bogardus — who works for Politico’s E&E News — fretted on January 6 that he was “reaching out to former EPA officials who served in Democratic and Republican administrations to hear

Border czar Tom Homan on Thursday said President Donald Trump has agreed to conclude the monthslong federal immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota. "We've seen a big change here in the last couple of weeks," Homan said at a press conference in Minneapolis. "All good changes." Homan said the number of enforcement targets in the Twin Cities region, which has been flooded since December with thousands of officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as well as U.S. Customs and Border Protection, has been "greatly reduced." Homan last week had announced a drawdown of 700 agents from the area encompassing Minneapolis and St. Paul, a roughly 25% pullback

Newly unsealed Department of Justice documents reveal that in July 2006, then businessman Donald Trump was one of the first to call police to warn them about sex predator Jeffrey Epstein. The documents include a previously unreported 2019 FBI interview summary with former Palm Beach police chief Michael Reiter. Trump had contacted the department shortly after reports of Epstein's criminal sex investigation became public. The future president contacted Reiter to express relief that authorities were finally acting, suggesting his associates in New York had described Epstein's behaviors as "disgusting," and advised investigators to focus on Ghislaine Maxwell, whom he described as "evil."

Trump called the then-Palm Beach Police Chief Michael Reiter “to tell him ‘thank goodness you’ [are] stopping [Epstein], everyone has known he’s been doing this,” Reiter told the FBI in October 2019, according to the FBI document, known as a 302. Two weeks ago, Jonathan Chait was one of many left-wingers who seemed to be declaring victory of ICE and President Trump. Here's a bit of what he was saying. Trump’s retreat in Minneapolis is a stinging defeat for the national conservatives, the Republican Party’s most nakedly authoritarian faction... Trump’s capitulation would never have occurred if not for the heroic, disciplined resistance in Minneapolis. Faced with something like an occupying army that was systematically flouting the law, the people of Minneapolis thrust its abuse into the public eye, raising the political cost of Miller’s war until enough Republicans decided that they couldn’t bear to pay it.

Signs that communist Cuba is on its last legs continue to pile up. Today Cuba announced that it is out of aviation fuel, meaning that international airliners who land there can't refuel anymore. The Cuban government said international airlines can no longer refuel there due to fuel shortages after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened tariffs on any country that supplies the communist country with oil. The island nation’s leadership said Sunday that Cuba will run out of aviation fuel from Monday, likely disrupting airlines operating there, according to EFE news agency, citing two sources. The kerosene shortage is expected to persist for the next month, with all of Cuba’s international airports affected.
