Federal officials announced on Feb. 4 that approximately 700 immigration enforcement personnel would be withdrawn from Minnesota effective immediately, equating to approximately 25% of all agents deployed to the area. (snip) [R]oughly 2,000 immigration enforcement personnel would remain in the area (snip) [--] a sustained enforcement footprint well above historical norms for a single metropolitan area. (snip) Federal officials explicitly linked the reduction to increased cooperation from state and local authorities, including agreements by county jails to transfer individuals subject to immigration holds. (snip) The drawdown functions less as de-escalation than as enforcement consolidation.

Comments:

According to Tom Homan, a team of 16 agents is required to arrest an illegal alien at his or her residence, vs. a couple of officers for a handover at a courthouse or jail. Reportedly, the number of custodial transfers has increased in recent days and the Minneapolis Police Department has begun to respond to street blockades and rioters.

I would not have been that easy. For every 10 illegals arrested (and removed), 10 federal agents will leave. Any hiccups, the federal agents come back.

We'll see. Meanwhile in my former Nextdoor group in New York people are claiming ICE agents are going door to door and holding school children hostage to use them as bait to get their illegal alien parents. Maybe it's true. Personally, I think they are lying.

Dems have been calling for ICE body cameras, but as I noted a few days ago "Body cameras have far more consistently proven that law enforcement acted correctly than otherwise (snip.)" Now, the Dems are pivoting to warning about the dangers of ICE body cameras "A push to put body cameras on all ICE agents has Democrats running into a new problem: fear that the technology will provide another avenue for mass surveillance of protesters." The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is launching an investigation into ABC's "The View" amid the agency's crackdown on equal time for political candidates, Fox News Digital has learned. Last month, the FCC announced it will require the broadcast networks to adhere to the "statutory equal opportunities requirement," citing the Communications Act of 1934, "including the airing of late-night and daytime talk shows." A source at the FCC told Fox News Digital that Monday's "View" appearance by Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico triggered the probe.

But still, by the time Gabbard is done, a lot more people will believe what has been pretty obvious for a long time:

Respect is nothing more than an abstraction until somebody refuses to show it; that's when symbols clarify moments. Flags matter because they represent authority, sacrifice, and ownership. The World Health Organization (WHO) crossed that line when it decided to keep the United States' flag after President Donald Trump withdrew from the organization. That decision led to a rare action on the world's political stage: Somebody acted. President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the WHO because of decades of mismanagement, compliance with hostile governments, and repeated failures during global health scares. There are consequences resulting from the withdrawal: legal, diplomatic, and symbolic.

Gen Z, this will smart. The generation born between 1997 and 2010 is the very first generation who did worse in school than the generation before them, according to a top neuroscientist. And shockingly, they are proud of it. “They’re the first generation in modern history to score lower on standardized academic tests than the one before it,” Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath, 43, told The Post. “And to make matters worse, most of these young people are overconfident about how smart they are. The smarter people think they are, the dumber they actually are. “They underperformed on basically every cognitive measure, from basic attention, memory, literacy, numeracy, executive function and general IQ.”

The attention of those less politically minded is focused on the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy -- always fodder for the would-be Colombos and Miss Marples -- and the Olympics. Yet this week saw some victories for the administration along with some serious unfinished business. The ousted dictator Nicolás Maduro seems isolated, depressed, and devoid of funds sufficient to hire teams of lawyers to defend him. Any claims he might have for immunity seem destined to fail. The evidence establishes he was born in Colombia; his claim falls because only a native Venezuelan is entitled to hold the office of president.

For too long, America’s retirement system has worked for the few, not the many. Wall Street insiders, wealthy elites, and big public pension funds have built wealth via the private markets – private equity, private credit, and real estate. Meanwhile, hardworking Americans are told to stay in their lane. If you work a regular job and save through a 401(k), you are effectively shut out from greater choice and investment access for your well-earned money. That’s not an accident. Elites – like Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) – don’t want this change because it erodes their interests and your opportunity for wealth creation.
