Hamadeh's Bill Seeks To Expose Dual Citizenship
In U.S. Census

Original Article

Arizona Republican Rep. Abe Hamadeh has introduced legislation that would add a question about dual citizenship to the decennial U.S. Census. The bill, Make Allegiances Clear Again Act (MACA Act), aims to shed light on what Hamadeh describes as a hidden national security risk: divided loyalties among U.S. citizens who also hold citizenship in foreign countries. (snip) The Arizona congressman, who began his term in January 2025, argues that the census currently lumps together "illegal aliens, guest workers, dual nationals and loyal American citizens into the same generic population buckets." This, he contends, distorts representation and funding decisions.

Comments:

This is the second major bill in the current Congress addressing dual citizenship (another bill introduced by Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) would abolish dual citizenship entirely.) This strikes me as a good bill promoted with a faulty argument. On the one hand, it is shocking that the census doesn't collect this information already. On the other, congressmen get reelected for rewarding districts, not punishing them.

This dual citizenship thing is interesting. I have three friends who have dual citizenship. One grew up in Moscow and she maintains dual citizenship with Russia where her family still lives. She's been a successful (and wonderful to work with) software engineer here in the states for many years. The other two are pastors who work with orphans in Mexico. The Mexican government required them to get citizenship so that they could own land and build orphanages there, where they have done. That said, none of them have ever run for office.

A bit of trivia - Under the circa 1990 constitution of Poland, citizenship is extended to any child of a Polish born citizen. My father was born in Poland and came to the U.S. at age 3. That makes me a dual citizen. But while I love Poland, having taught there as a visiting professor, the U.S. remains number one with me.

Covid-19 -- and less frequently, the mRNA-based Covid-19 vaccine -- can cause inflamed heart tissue in some people. Officials in Joe Biden's Department of Justice and FBI considered a criminal investigation into then-Sen. The email exchanges began in response to the Post's Feb. 1, 2024 report on Sinema's six-figure campaign spending on a security detail, luxury hotels, cars, and concert tickets (snip.)

Several of the largest U.S. and European-based drugmakers inked deals with President Donald Trump on Friday to voluntarily sell their medications for less, as his administration pushes to link the nation's drug prices to cheaper ones abroad. (snip) Among the most notable pledges is that Bristol Myers Squibb will offer Eliquis, its blockbuster blood-thinner and top-prescribed product, for free to Medicaid. The companies make up a majority of the 17 drugmakers Trump sent letters to in July, calling on them to lower prices as part of his "most favored nation" policy.

Contrary to conventional economic wisdom and warnings from critics on the left and many economists that cutting interest rates while imposing broad tariffs would inevitably stoke inflation, the Trump administration is achieving all three simultaneously -- with the Federal Reserve lowering rates, significant tariffs in place and inflation cooling to 2.7% as of late 2025. Yes, they waged war on us. That's the simplest way to summarize what the government, technocratic elite, security state, and media did to the American people in 2016. It's also the premise behind what is sure to be the most important and explosive book of 2026. That book, The Information State: Politics in the Age Of Total Control by Jacob Siegel, explores the ways the crazed reactions of these parts of society to the arrival of Donald Trump drove them to label him "a threat to American democracy" and take actions that, ironically, turned them into the very threat they warned us against.

Half of $18 billion in federal welfare funds, which supports 14 Minnesota-run programs since 2018, has been lost to fraud, Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said during a press conference Thursday. People come from all over the world to steal millions from U.S. government Medicaid, housing, and other programs, he added. “Minnesota has become a magnet for fraud, so much so that we have developed a fraud tourism industry — people coming to our state purely to exploit and defraud its programs,” Thompson said. “This is a deeply unsettling reality that all Minnesotans should understand.”

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday directing federal agencies to reclassify marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act. This shift acknowledges the drug's potential medical uses while placing it alongside substances like ketamine and codeine-laced Tylenol, which carry moderate risks of dependence. The move builds on a process initiated under the Biden administration but stalled by inaction for years. Trump emphasized that the order facilitates essential research into marijuana's benefits and dangers without legalizing recreational use nationwide. "This reclassification order will make it far easier to conduct marijuana-related medical research,"
