Half of $18 billion in federal welfare funds, which supports 14 Minnesota-run programs since 2018, has been lost to fraud, Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said during a press conference Thursday.
People come from all over the world to steal millions from U.S. government Medicaid, housing, and other programs, he added. “Minnesota has become a magnet for fraud, so much so that we have developed a fraud tourism industry — people coming to our state purely to exploit and defraud its programs,” Thompson said. “This is a deeply unsettling reality that all Minnesotans should understand.”

I wonder if the people in Minnesota even care.
They seem content to let their state slide into the abyss.

The way you prevent fraud is to never put money on the table in the first place. We are not a Third World country, so in reality, there really are very very few people who require significant assistance. And when you factor in family and friends, that number is even significantly reduced. Quit with the giveaways!

So the federal government spent $9 billion in welfare funds in eight years? In just one state? Nine billion? This is not Minnesotans money; it's all our money. How much do we spend nationwide to pay for able-bodied people to not work or fund their own lives, and how much is the fraud nationwide? Why does an unskilled buster with multiple children get to sit at home (with her children in taxpayer funded daycare) while working mothers go to work with their babies in self-funded daycare AND pay taxes to support the unskilled bum and her forever dependent gang of misfits? This has got to stop. No 20-hour work week stipulations either. They need to work to fund their households just like the rest of US. It's not our fault certain people don't plan their lives better. Having children outside wedlock and not being able to take care of them is not everyone's fault, but it's been made all our burden. Then they tiptoe around making these people go to work by saying they can continue to get benefits with only a 20-hour week work requirement! Get outta here! Welfare as a concept is evil, and this crap needs to stop! This is one of the many reasons I hate paying taxes.

More than half of the $18 billion in federal welfare funds paid to Minnesota was stolen. That's impressive, but isn't 100% fraud the goal here? These programs were meant to be ripped off by anyone with the gall to take the money. DFL (Democrat) governance is groovy. Like Cartman, trapped in the mine, stuffing what he thought was real gold into every orifice, the grifters want to pop gloriously. Lazy thieves.

A great start to this problem would be to deport all the parasite Somalis.
Ilhan Omar should be the first one on the boat.
The democrats would scream bloody murder, but really who cares what the nation destroying democrat traitors want? Just do it.

"You can take the Bunny out of the Jungle, but you can't take the Jungle out of the Bunny." People raised in a culture of cheating and thievery are going to cheat and steal when brought to a place with a culture of honesty and decency.
One way to cut down on the Fraud is to have a separate organization of auditors constantly going around checking each account, with a bonus awarded for finding each fraudulent account, as a way to give them an incentive. When fraud is found, make the Bureaucrats in charge of the program PERSONALLY pay for the fraud! THAT will give the bureaucrats an incentive to ensure that each account is properly conducted.

The Democrats in Minnesota are in panicville right now as this story gets worse every day. The Somalians are a permanent albatross around their necks. Most of them are non English speaking illiterates who are unemployable and they aren’t going anywhere unless the welfare dries up. In the meantime Walz continues to blame Trump because he turned on the Federal heat. Their only option now is to pressure Walz to drop his re-election campaign so they can install a different corrupt Democrat as Governor. And Minnesota voters will probably fall for it.

Posters # 3 and 4 - spot on! During the last govt shutdown, you read my comments here complaining about USDA Sec Rollins saying how they were running out of SNAP benefits. Enough with the single mother crap. You got yourself pregnant and yet, that baby is now our responsibility? No it is not.
US Taxpayers do too much enabling of people who make poor choices in life. Just as Rob and Michele Reiner enabled their son (at least with their money) while trying to help him but it only seems to never resolve the underlying problems.
Will there be any efforts to get any of the money back? Confiscate the luxury homes and cars, etc? Also, since the perpetrators were mostly Somalians, how about we stop all foreign aid to Somalia?

Pick up any government run program, and under the rocks are out of control corruption, and it is not just in the welfare programs. All government contracting is corrupt. It is not a coincidence that the DC surrounding area is the richest part of the country, as the $7 trillion dollars is parceled out each year, with politicians getting their take.

I heard yesterday regarding this massive fraud, we have untold numbers of people serving time in prisons who file for and are collecting unemployment disability.
Here we have the same problem throughout government at all levels, zero consequences. Whoever is supposed to be providing oversight for welfare distribution needs to be held accountable. I would think this is at minimum gross negligence, if the buck stops at the governors office, so be it arrest them.

The Democrats' electoral lock on Minnesota coincided with the arrival of large numbers of immigrants from Somalia. When Minnesota's Secretary of State is finally required to surrender its voter registration rolls to the Department of Justice for analysis we'll likely discover that the Democrats' apparent electoral success is a figment, based largely on illegally registered noncitizens.

Heard this from Milton Friedman decades ago. Essentially, he said that one phrase in our language
needs to change -
EVERYTIME you hear some variation of 'the government will pay for it' or 'new taxes will pay for it'
or, as the article stated it -
'People come from all over the world to steal millions from U.S. government Medicaid,
housing, and other programs, ...' - notice ? 'taxpayer' is almost NEVER mentioned ever though
that is the 'entity' that IS FORCED, at gunpoint if necessary, to pickup the tab for these CRIMES EVERY $%^&* TIME !
Start changing the phrase(s) to 'the taxpayer will pay for !' and I'll quite a bit will start to change !
Ever wonder WHY some products do NOT list the amount of money you are paying in taxes
for the item, and that the amount is not easy to find out either ??
Care to guess how much you pay in 'sales taxes for a pack of cigarettes ? Probably than you think.
Another good one is gasoline. In my state it's 37 cents FOR EVERY GALLON I OR ANYONE ELSE
BUYS. Any way you cut it, that a LOT of money rolling the taxes into the price without listing it
keeps people from thinking about it or Heaven Forbid, starting to ASK QUESTION about such
thing !! Hiding accounting information is one way fraud gets started and how it can and does grows
until it can no longer be hidden !!
