Vladimir Putin is blaming his European counterparts for sabotaging peace talks to end the war in Ukraine that he started almost four years ago — and even raised the possibility of expanding the conflict to take on the European powers.
Ahead of a meeting with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff, Putin lambasted Europe for “putting forward demands that are absolutely unacceptable for Russia.”
“They themselves refused peace negotiations and are interfering with President Trump,” Putin added. Putin also suggested that Russia would be prepared to fight Europe in a broader war if the conflict in Ukraine escalates.

Putin is a n insane warmonger, not that different than Hitler and similar megalomaniacs.
A dangerous man.
I doubt that the Euroweenies has the spine to take him on.

I stopped reading NR a long time ago, so I didn't read beyond what's here. Seems to me Putin is a smart guy who's playing the Europeans against Trump to his advantage. He may be ready for Europe, but he knows he's not ready for NATO so it's all part of his negotiating strategery.

Vlad will huff and he will puff...oh nevermind. It's all coming out his back side.
The truth is he is as ready for war with Europe as he was with Ukraine. Go to war with Europe and he might find himself the first casualty. Can see his own troops blowing his brains out, shoot him a hundred more times just to make sure and display his body in public so the rest of the world will know that Russia is ready to end their foolish war.
How long will a war with Europe take. The most likely answer will be whatever it takes to make sure Russia loses. Think there are plenty of people ready to defend Europe even if their leaders aren't. Guessing a number of European countries have been gearing up for some time. Especially in Eastern Europe. Even if Russia should win, which is doubtful, they would be in an endless guerilla war.

Putin's Russia is stretched pretty thin dealing with Ukraine. Ukraine has destroyed or damaged 25% to 35% of Russian oil refining capacity, and is starting in on Russian thermal power plants and key electrical grid nodes.
Ukraine has destroyed so many Russian tanks that they have emptied the vast Siberian tank parks of many thousands of 1950s, 1960s, 1970s era old, derelict tanks, patched them up and sent off new crews to die in them.
If the Euros started whacking away at Russian infrastructure in addition to what Ukrainehas done, the result would make it very difficult for Putin to fuel his war machine.

"Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 with the goal of annexing all of its territory"...is either a total lie...or the less mentioned and more nuanced "Truth". It reads, and was likely meant to assert, that Russia's intent was take all of Ukraine. It was not, still is not, Crimea was an independent territory "under Law", as were/are the Dunbass...all voted to secede from the Ukraine republic and rejoin the Russian republic. There are certainly arguments to be made about the legality and legitimacy of the elections...but...they did happen. The only time Putin has made noises about conquering ALL of Ukraine has been couched in terms of "If that is what it takes to end the conflict" and that he sees Ukraine as a separate and sovereign nation...NOT still part of Russia,, and not even attractive to become part of Russia...again. Crimea is gone, Ukraine lost it, will never get it back. Zelenski making, then breaking, deals on parts of the Dunbass may have now created a circumstance where those areas are gone for good as well. The idea of NATO absorbing Ukraine is a no go...never was. anymore than we would allow Mexico to join Russia, or China, and be militarized by them. Ukraine COULD have joined the EU, though not NATO...and likely none of this would have happened, that is now likely off the table as well.(Doing so would have been another gross mistake, the EU is just an economic "Soviet" writ smaller, a "Soviet" just means a "Council") I don't like Putin, I don't fully trust him, but he is not "Evil". Reality is "Real",. Zelensky is not trustworthy either, his word is no good, about anything. He should be offered about the same deal as Maduro...Allow and hold an election, we no longer consider you legitimate, if you ARE re-elected we can begin again.Russia will almost certainly agree to a cease fire for an election to be held. The ONLY thing the Euros can do to Putin.Russia is attack that nations energy sector/sources...which THEY will freeze in the Dark without. Putin can readily demonstrate that by just choosing to shut them off for ONE WEEK, Europe doesnr have enough fuel to keep the homefires burning, certainly not enough to launch a war machine sufficient to the task. And the USA should not be involved in supplanting their self induced paucity...

mostly agree #6.
The initial Russian drive towards Kyiv was by a mercenary force, a tactical diversion to draw the Ukraine Army into a defense of the capital while the regular Russian army occupied the Donbas defended mostly by the nazi Azov Battalian.
The conflict is a CIA color revolution, a civil war pitting the Eastern Oblasts (who want affiliation with Russia) against tge Westerners who want to alighn with Europe. The CIA did the same in Georgia.
The CIA needs to be disbanded. Truman regretted establishing it

The amazing inaccuracies that people buy into are just sort of shame. Yet, I'm sure they are absolutely sure that they "have the true facts in the matter". I suggest doing a bit of historic research, and not getting "facts" from the Leftstream Media.
Ukrainian Nazis and "independent territories"? Russian prop0aganda. Did some Ukrainians welcome the Germans in WW2, thinking they were being liberated from the Russian boot heel? Yes, but they found out that it was from the Russian boot heel to the German boot heel. They are not nazis today, except in Russian propaganda.
Stalin murdered the inhabitants of much of SE Ukraine in the 1930sn because they refused to join the Communist collective farms, and then shipped in Russian peasants to replace those killed in the kulak genocide. The NY Times went in a reporter to "get to the truth", and he sent pro-Stalin lies back for several years, which the NYT happily printed as facts.
Thes Replacement Russian peasants are the folks who 'voted' as they were told to vote by Putin's goons to succeed from Ukraine. Stalin's genocide still working and convincing Americans nearly a century later.
