'We Messed Up': Cracker Barrel CEO Answers

Few stories grabbed national attention quite like the Cracker Barrel rebrand did this year. Even amid endless high-profile developments in Washington, the Cracker Barrel rebrand stood out as offensive to Americans everywhere. Like Bud Light's partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, Cracker Barrel's new look felt like an attack on an American institution from an out-of-touch C-suite that bought into the leftist idea of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The backlash was so severe that the company publicly slammed the brakes on their modern makeover and promised Americans they weren't changing a thing.

If the same people are in charge, the same underlying visions are still in place. They will just come at the same things stealthily. People at the top levels in companies have strong opinions and strong egos. They think what they think. Sure, they will react to a catastrophe but it's like putting lipstick on a pig. Their ideas are still pigs. The old style needs to be more that just "OK", it needs to be embraced fully, with the understanding that some components of that, like food quality, need improvement. If we start to see actions that FULLY embrace and project CB's history and culture, maybe there is hope. But just saying they will mostly be hands off of the existing culture is not sufficient.

I cant figure all this out. It was one company that screwed up. The penalties were theirs. Yet somehow, everyone got all bent out of shape about it as if it were their company. Most of us have no stake in Cracker Barrel. We arent employees or stockholders. If their actions are unreasonable there are other restaurants to go to. Nobody seemed to get too upset when every single buffet place closed in my state during the covid hoax. That was far worse. They still haven't come back.

I agree with poster #7. Living in South Louisiana, I have too many good local restaurants, with really good food to choose from, to worry about a chain restaurant that most likely microwaves prepackaged food. And most of our buffets are re-opened, although at seemingly astronomical prices, geared to the current wage scale. It's a bit much for fixed income retirees, so you have to pick and choose, when you do decide to splurge.

'We Messed Up' And within that statement lies the root of the problem regarding this CEO. For her entire life she's had others telling her it was others' faults, never her own. No, girl, this was ENTIRELY YOUR fault, so OWN it. Someone in the "Executive Row" of the Corporate Office makes the decision to spend multi-millions of dollars for fancy "rebrands" and store "make-overs," such as those undertaken during her tenure. Those sorts of things are never left to "underlings" for signoff. It wasn't the case with Bud Lite, and nor is it so with, "Barrel Lite." Do what's best for the Shareholders, and resign, now!

For decades, the Liberals have worked on the adage of a frog sitting in a pan of water, where the heat is gradually increased, till the frog finds himself cooked alive, That's how they worked to destroy America and American values. The Muslims have a similar technique, where they immigrate, then populate till they gain a majority, then bully their way into power. Either technique is a malicious act, because they always demand their 'Rights' while denying you, yours. It's time to respond, with force, where necessary.

They’re like every other ivy league educated liberal. They think the violent rioters and trans rights protesters they see on TV make up the majority of Americans. They pay high priced ‘data driven’ consultants to tell them what they want to hear. Then they make very stupid decisions based on their emotions and personal opinions. Then the stock price bottoms out and they all have to make up stupid excuses for what they did. They never really understand the problem.

CB slowly removed everything I liked from their menu - maple pancakes, pulled pork BBQ, cornbread stuffing, to name three. I used to go there at least once a month for one of my favorites. Now, I can't remember the last time I was in a Cracker Barrel store. I do remember it was the day I ordered turkey and dressing and discovered their dressing wasn't cornbread. They badly need to work on their food offerings. Until they do, they'll continue their downhill slide.

We have enjoyed Cracker Barrel dining for two decades, for ther OK food and whimsically decorated interior. Recent tv news stories which have included footage of the new CB interiors remind me of a prison cafeteria setting shown in movies - cold and sterile. It seems that Cracker Barrel checked in with all kind of consultants regardingg their failed rebrand. DEI consultants, menu consultants, interior design consultants. They checked in with everyone except the people who mattered the most: their actual customers. They forgot to consult with them about what they thought might need to change or be updated or better yet, what was working and should be focused on and increased in the restaurants. Slick consultants from LA or NYC don't eat at Cracker Barrel. They most likely hold their noese in disgust to the atmosphere and menu. THe consultants tried to make CB more NYC and LA. That is why they failed.

While global focus has shifted to other crises, Iran has rapidly and aggressively been accelerating its ballistic missile production at the speed of light. If the West is serious about stopping Iran's missile expansion, dismantling these missile networks must be part of the strategy. Every intercepted shipment delays Tehran's ambitions and weakens its ability to radiate threats. The US should have let Israel keep on going when it wanted to, after the Trump administration took out three of Iran's nuclear plants: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu knows what he is doing. Iran must not be allowed to grow stronger, more dangerous, and more emboldened.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a euphemism for a rigid racialist theology. It deductively postulates that a large percentage of the population is oppressed by racism and sexism, mostly by white males. DEI makes no allowance for the class or wealth of the alleged victims or their supposed victimizers. So once that rigid party line is set, it cannot account for tens of millions of affluent and privileged non-white Americans or like numbers of poor and non-privileged whites. Absurdities and ridicule must then follow. One example is the spectacle of former First Lady Michelle Obama on her current book tour.

Tatiana Schlossberg, 35, said she watched in horror from her hospital bed as RFK Jr was confirmed for the top health post in February. She said the health-care system she relied on suddenly felt 'strained, shaky' after RFK Jr's confirmation and that she worried about losing access to leukemia and bone-marrow trials at Memorial Sloan Kettering, her best chance at remission. Writing on the 62nd anniversary of JFK's assassination, Schlossberg revealed she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of blood cancer, in May 2024.
