Is Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) going to retire? Townhall has been hearing whispers from some senior Democratic sources that the longtime New York Senator could be retiring from public life for numerous reasons, not least being that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) could make good on her move to primary him. Now, AOC venturing outside the state could be an early move to consolidate her national constituency for a 2028 presidential run, which she could do, but she has options. And this seat is gettable for her: Schumer is not well-liked among Democratic voters, and his fundraising has been abysmal.

New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is an avowed Jew-hater who has repeatedly demonstrated over the last decade his hatred for Israel; his support for Hamas; and even his support for a “global intifada,” which, by extension, includes the destruction of the United States as we know it. And yet, according to recent polls, 43% of New York Jews are supporting him, including 67% of Jewish voters between the ages of 18 and 44.
This is analogous to black voters voting for former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke (who ran for president in 1992). How is it even possible for these Jewish New Yorkers to be supporting

As you've heard, there is a governor's race in Virginia. It looked like an easy victory for the Democrats a few weeks ago, and then some texts surfaced and things changed. It's a lot more competitive, and the Democrats are sending former President Obama to the rescue:
Former President Barack Obama is endorsing Democratic former Rep. Abigail Spanberger in the Virginia governor's race and starring in two new digital ads for her campaign.
"Virginia's elections are some of the most important in the country this year," Obama says in both ads, shared first with NBC News, which focus on the economy and abortion rights.

After a U.S.-led campaign, the United Nations has postponed a vote on a proposal to impose the world’s first global carbon tax on shipping, delaying the decision by one year.
The rule was expected to come up for a vote this week as part of the U.N. International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) "Net-Zero Framework." But a majority of member nations voted to defer it after failing to reach consensus amid U.S. opposition.
Backed by the European Union and Brazil, the plan seeks to raise billions from carriers that exceed new emissions limits, channeling the revenue toward climate adaptation and clean-fuel projects in developing nations.
Washington and Riyadh led the opposition.

The “moral equivalent of war” is often used to elevate an otherwise non-threatening event into an existential threat. But today, the U.S. and indeed, all of Western civilization, faces a very real existential threat, one equal to war: the global collapse of fertility and families.
In country after country, the stark, awful news emerges on a nearly daily basis: birth rates are plunging as women disengage from traditional marriage and family life, and young men do the same.
The U.S. is no exception.
Last year, the U.S. fertility rate plunged to an all-time low of 1.6 children per woman, a rate roughly 24% below the 2.1 children required j

President Donald Trump on Thursday warned Hamas “we will have no choice but to go in and kill them” if internal bloodshed persists in Gaza.
The grim warning from Trump came after he previously downplayed the internal violence in the territory since a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas went into effect last week in the two-year war.
Trump later clarified he won’t send U.S. troops into Gaza after launching the threat against Hamas.
“It’s not going to be us,” Trump said in an exchange with reporters. “We won’t have to. There are people very close, very nearby that will go in and they’ll do the trick very easily,

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Friday went off on White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt while talking about political violence and recent controversies in connection with the Republican Party.
“We’ve already seen a rise in political violence and hatred in America, and then you’ve got swastikas apparently appearing in the offices of Republican members of Congress,” Jeffries told reporters on Capitol Hill. “You’ve got Young Republicans engaging in the most antisemitic and racist speech possible.” Jefferies said Republicans “are ripping the sheets off” before turning his attention to President Trump’s press secretary. And then you’ve got Karoline Leavitt, who’s sick; she’s out of control,” Jeffries continued. “I’m not sure

Former Secretary of Education, Senator and university president, Lamar Alexander, declared in the Wall Street Journal that “Donald Trump Isn’t a University President.”
The old-school political insider and prior university administrator, goes on to criticize President Trump’s “Compact for Higher Education,” which would establish a national board of trustees for the 6,000 universities and colleges across the United States.
Mr. Alexander tells readers that this will have the apparently distasteful consequence of establishing admissions guidelines, managing university costs, creating testing standards for faculty competence and hiring, and setting criteria for international student admissions. He asserts that this is an example of federal overreach.

If the X platform hadn't been messing with my algorithms of late, I might have missed this. But thanks to Elon Musk’s sometimes quirky social media platform, I was treated this afternoon to non-stop reposts from leftists all featuring the same 20-second clip of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Fox News. This clip is blowing up my feed, and all of the posters are outraged Democrats. The clip was brought to us by none other than Aaron Rupar, who has a reputation for sitting at his computer all day looking for conservative media hits to take out of context and post to social media.

NBC News will be terminating 150 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) employees who are responsible for "Black, Latino, Asian and LGBTQ+" coverage in the newsroom.
The Wrap, in an exclusive, reported that NBC News was firing its teams dedicated to issues affecting those communities.
NBC News executive vice president of editorial, Catherine Kim, announced the cuts to staff on the morning of Oct. 15. Kim claimed that the layoffs made things a “difficult day for a lot of us,” the Wrap reported.
The Wednesday newsroom massacre comes as NBC News splits from its sister news network, MSNBC.
The total reductions will cut about 7% of NBC News’ 2,000 newsroom staffers

During his campaign to secure the 2020 Democrat presidential nomination, Joe Biden infamously told the leftist co-hosts of ABC’s The View that, “from the beginning,” he believed Anita Hill’s unsubstantiated allegations of sexual harassment against now-Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
“Not only didn’t I vote for Clarence Thomas, I believed [Hill] from the beginning. I was against Clarence Thomas, I did everything in my power to defeat Clarence Thomas and he won by the smallest margin anyone ever won going on the Supreme Court,” Biden said in the 2019 interview.

Sen. Bernie Sanders's (I., Vt.) campaign spent $78,371 chartering private jets between July and September, according to federal campaign finance disclosures it submitted Wednesday. Just a few hours later, Sanders lamented that the United States is "increasingly becoming an oligarchic form of society," during a CNN town hall.
It continues the campaign's pattern of spending lavishly on private air travel. During the six months prior, Friends of Bernie Sanders spent more than $450,000 chartering jets. Sanders has been unapologetic about his use of private jets. Sanders scoffed when Fox News anchor Bret Baier asked him about a Washington Free Beacon report highlighting his spending on private jets
