There have been countless examples of liberalism being a mental disorder. Here is another one: Two researchers from Western Michigan University have written a paper [snip] The paper argues that intentionally spreading alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), a potentially life-threatening allergy to red meat, could be not only morally defensible, but perhaps even necessary, in order to reduce animal suffering and combat climate change. Here are the authors, Parker Crutchfield and Blake Hereth, in their own words: Because promoting tickborne AGS prevents something bad from happening, doesn’t violate anyone’s rights, and promotes virtuous action or character, it follows that promoting tickborne AGS is strongly pro tanto (‘to that extent’) morally obligatory.

These two should be arrested and tried on domestic terrorism charges. Preferably they could be convicted for terms long enough to prevent them from ever entering a lab again.

These are 'thought experiments' better left to toilet ponderings and out of the minds of university 'researchers'. Can we put a clamp on the grants these edumacated idjits get to play around with.

Isn't it nice that they get to decide on what is 'virtuous actions' and 'morally obligatory'? Just for reading this article, I think I'm going to fire up the grill and throw on a couple of steaks...

Anybody who tries to do that to unsuspecting (or especially to unwilling) people ought to be sure their long-term disability coverage is paid up, first.

After the initial shock I thought of this as a "thought experiment," but I remember the "gain of function" aspect of the Wuhan lab experiments. Fauci denied we were funding gain of function research, but it turns out he was lying. Imagine! The highest paid government employee of all was lying to the country!
The covid gain of function was allegedly aimed at delivering wonderful vaccines to a general, but possibly remote populations, through a highly contagious coronavirus.
Or maybe birth control. Or plain sterilization, to unpopular people. Uyghurs, maybe.
This "thought experiment" should be impaled and burned with derisive laughter.
And maybe, for added insurance, sterilization should be required of all teaching staff out there at Western Michigan as a condition of employment. And all students upon enrollment. (Maybe excuse girls from being sterilized if they got a septum nose ring—it amounts to the same thing.)
Just another thought experiment.

Why are beef cattle raised at all? For beef. No market for beef = no beef cattle. They aren't raised to do work or for entertainment, like horses, so they wouldn't be raised at all. They're not as appealing as American Buffalo, so even fewer of them would be left. Several breeds of cattle would be wiped out completely.
Hog, sheep, goat, etc would fill the market instead.
"Researchers" never ask the question, "and then what?"

More sociopathics somewhere on the "autism spectrum", no doubt. We need to get a firm handle on these aberrant people before they do us all in. Wasn't Mr. Gates, one of those AS celebrities, pushing a chem-dusting to permanently darken the entire earth, oh, just for giggles?

A friend of mine who loves to camp has alpha gal which he got from a tick. He can't eat beef, pork or lamb but can eat chicken and seafood. The very idea of deliberately infecting people with this should be cause for anyone suggesting it to be shunned, shamed and dismissed.

The old John Birch Society was ridiculed for objecting to fluoridating municipal water supplies. It was "for our own good". Well, maybe. Their real objection was medicating the population without its consent. Treating water for safety is one thing but adding medication is another. Maybe someday our government will think it's a good idea to add a little anti-depression drug to the water to keep us calm and controllable especially in the "red" states. The possibilities are endless.

By that logic, euthanizing stupid people at universities would significantly raise the collective IQ of US citizens. No need to harm ticks, a more direct method can be employed.
