How many times have we heard over the last decade that Donald Trump was a threat to democracy? That we were going to lose our democracy if he isn’t restrained (and maybe even eliminated)? That our democracy is in peril because Trump and his supporters are fascists, Nazis, and worse, if anything can be?
The Democrats and their media allies hammer the term far beyond the point of absurdity. What is their obsession with “democracy,” a word that appears neither in the Declaration of Independence nor in the Constitution?
Because, as has been pointed out many times, but clearly not enough, the U.S. is not a democracy.
Our nation is a republic.

Democrats do not want a republic. They want a democracy -- and no checks and balances.

Great article. Straight and to the point. The use of the word "Democracy" to describe the U.S. is likely the best example of far left wing extremists takeover of our language.

You can thank FDR for the word democracy too. He changed the military educational system to use the word democracy instead of the word republic. This was a long time in the making.

Dear Editorial Board,
Here is your answer - for democrats, the word “democracy” is code for “Democrat party power”. If you simply replace the word with that code in everything they say, it all makes sense.
I’ve only been posting this for years on this site. I guess that the editorial board doesn’t lurk here.

FTA: ]The founders were skeptical of democracies. James Madison called democracy “the most vile form of government.” ' And in a similar manner, Democrats are the most vile form of politicians.

New drinking game: take a shot every time a liberal says 'Democracy'. Swallow 2 aspirins and go to bed.

Re #1, they want a "democracy" only as long as the majority votes their way. In California, e.g., there is a long history of Leftist Democrats running to the State Supreme Court to nullify referenda passed by a majority of California voters.

The names of the political parties tell the tale. The Constitution guarantees "a republican form of government ". The Democrats have been trying their damndest to destroy that, and even put their evil goal into the name of their party.
OTOH, Republicans work to enforce the Constitution and are forced to fight back the attempts to become an unstable democracy
"Losing our democracy " is GOOD THING. We must always say that we are working to "RETAIN our Republic" when these clowns screech about 'losing our democracy '.
We must always correct their erroneous statement.

There is an editorial rubric that can and should be applied, those references to the original definition/intent of the word use "small D= democracy" as was normative, the propaganda/polemical/partisan use would use a Capital D, hyphenated version "Democrat-cy". Republic/Republican however would under existing grammatical rules BOTH be normally capitalized as they are Proper Nouns/Titles, in their use as a common noun, pronoun, adjective, adverb or verb they would have a "small R". It was not long ago the Democrats were complaining that the word "Democrat/Democrats" was being used demeaningly as a pejorative...they insisted upon being referred to as "Democratic Party Members"...though they themselves NEVER used the term "Democratics" as the contracted plural. It boils down to their poutrage ploy of constantly altering words/definitions and demanding "YOU have to call me what I say to call me"

I was actually given a failing course grade in an Intro English Composition class by a radically left wing, young, instructor for contesting her insistence over capitalization of various forms of "Democratic" in a paper. (The whole thing was rather humorous in that I was, and had been for several years, earning my living writing for magazines, web pages, think tanks, and politicians, already had several degrees, but of a vintage that prior courses were not transferable into my continuing educational lesson plan, a Nursing Degree, while she was a young adjunct instructor at a community college) I had to retake the course(of course) but after consulting with the Dept Chair, he took me into HIS class and allowed me a bit more freedom of expression, as long as I could verbally offer reasonable explanations for the intentional use/misuse of verbiage. Ahhh...the Joys of returning to an academic environment when you are older than ALL of the students, and most of the staff.

The phrase that I keep hearing from the 'Rat politicians is not "Democracy".
They keep saying "OUR Democracy". which I finally caught on to is a different kettle of fish altogether.
"OUR Democracy" is a One-Party Totalitarian State, controlled by those, hidden behind the Green Curtain (nod to the Wizard of Oz), who control the Democ'RAT Party. These are the people who jammed their party's system to push the HildeBeast for president in 2016 (stiffing Crazy Bernie), pushed the HairSniffer in 2020 (stiffing Crazy Bernie a second time), and have cheated and rigged the system in ways and times too numerous to count.
To them, POWER is the goal. It is the ONLY thing that counts.
They will happily burn America to the ground, so long as THEY get to Rule over the Ashes.
They are truly evil.
