Is Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) going to retire? Townhall has been hearing whispers from some senior Democratic sources that the longtime New York Senator could be retiring from public life for numerous reasons, not least being that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) could make good on her move to primary him. Now, AOC venturing outside the state could be an early move to consolidate her national constituency for a 2028 presidential run, which she could do, but she has options. And this seat is gettable for her: Schumer is not well-liked among Democratic voters, and his fundraising has been abysmal.

He's in his mid 70s and has been in office nearly 30 years. It's time to hang-up those squinty half glasses and enjoy a few years of retirement.

Someone has most likely "suggested" to him (in the strongest terms possible) that he bid Congress a fond farewell. He'll exit stage left via a heavy boot planted on his backside.

Too funny:
Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) are making the case for new leadership as they bungle this shutdown fight. Even Temu Obama is facing an internal revolt, with dozens of Democrats vowing not to back him for leader next session.
Hakeem=Temu Obama... ouch.

Schumer has been a politician his whole life. As soon as he got out of law school, he got elected to some county office - and he’s been running for office ever since. He was s a congressman for 30 years, then a senator for another 20. He has NEVER had a job! He’s the worst of the worst.
Retiring? From WHAT? Good riddance,

If Chuckie retires, welcome to the US Senate in 2026, Cortex. As for the WH eventually, Cortex, don't waste your time.
So, let's see. Any unintended consequences here?

AOC better run for Senate. NY voters are proving they are the dumbest on earth. Just today I saw that NY Jews by 48% overall and by 68% for those under 40 are going to vote for the Jew hating Mandani. That's like voting for the guy pushing you into the cattle car.
Given that how bad could an empty pantsuit like AOC be?

There is only one thing worse than being forced out by your own party.
Being replaced by someone like AOC.
The left wing nut jobs have taken over the Dem party, and I am sure that the Republicans are popping the champagne corks over an AOC driven party.
Hakeem is also on his way out. I wonder which option would be more hilarious - AOC defeating Schumer in a NY primary, or AOC being elected head of the House Dems.

"Now, AOC venturing outside the state could be an early move to consolidate her national constituency"...
Only the Democrats consolidate a "National Constituency" for House and Senate seats...and/or Governor-ships, AG's...while calling Repubs "Nationalists".
Methinks this "Leak" is really a horsehead in the Bed, warning to Shumer, not from one of HIS "Insiders" but from the Democrat Socialists who have/are taking over the Dem party. I support that...the vast majority of Voters, even in Blue States, are NOT that far left, nor willing to move that far left, there were/are "Reasons" that for two generations the ONLY Open Socialist in any major office was Bernie. Take their "Masks off" and they are Ugly, their policies are Ugly, the effects of those policies, Globally, are Hideous.

There is no way on this earth that Schumer of the coprophagous grin would voluntarily retire from his Precioussss his Precioussss--nor would Pelosi Galore--unless he knew that his reelection chances were near zero, that a babbling, comprehensively ignorant barmaid would take away his Precioussss, and that he wouldn't know what had hit him. The Senate would soon be without him peeering over those irritating half glasses he wears.
Schmuckie: Bronco Bill says, "It puts the cheese on the frozen hamburger patty." Parenthetically, Schumer achieved a 1600 on his SAT composite more than half a century ago, a perfect score. Now, after five decades of being a leftist, he has become, in the words of golfing great Roberto de Vicenzo, "a stupid." (I like using "stupid" as a noun in this instance.)

I think Chuck is realizing the old tricks and schemes just don't work the same any longer.
He will retire to ensure he's not further embarrassed by a primary lose.
It's that simple.
Senate Democrats should start to realize they are not going to enjoy having AOC around, except maybe Bernie.

If he does retire, it won't be voluntary. He's too hooked on the power of his position and his ability to run to any available news camera and have them pay attention to his blather.
