A Dallas-based auto lender built on giving car loans to illegals has just gone belly up, and it’s dragging Wall Street down with it. Tricolor Holdings was once hailed by the US Treasury as a “community development” success story. Now, they’ve just filed for bankruptcy as fraud allegations and a full-blown federal investigation overtake them. The company, which sold overpriced used cars to illegals and wrapped the scheme in a feel-good “social lending” label, is leaving major US banks like JPMorgan, Barclays, and Fifth Third staring at massive losses.

President Donald Trump loves a Sharpie pen, and now he has all the more reason to love the company that makes them. The president signed the flurry of executive orders he issued the day he returned to office with a Sharpie. He's used them for years, finding them more reliable than fancier pens.
Now we know they have another merit, too: They're almost entirely made in America. Only the felt tip of a Sharpie comes from abroad -- it's made in Japan, according to the Wall Street Journal's Natasha Khan, who published an eye-opening article on the penmaker last week.
What makes Newell Brands, the corporation behind the Sharpie, so newsworthy

Jesse Jackson Jr. will reportedly announce a run to reclaim his old congressional seat in Illinois after vacating it more than a decade ago following his conviction on fraud charges. “We must fight them at every level to restore decency, fairness, and equity back into the federal government,” reads a line from the Jesse Jackson Jr. for Congress webpage. Jackson, 60, the son of prominent political activist and minister Jesse Jackson, was sentenced to 30 months in prison “for conspiring to defraud his reelection campaigns of about $750,000 in funds that were used to pay for personal items and expenses, including high-end appliances and electronics, and then filing misleading reports

Trinity Washington University will hold a campus-wide "remembrance" event Tuesday for Assata Shakur, the domestic terrorist who murdered a New Jersey state trooper and later escaped federal prison.
The private school in Washington, D.C., with around 1,900 students, is hosting a "full-day" celebration of the "life, work, and enduring legacy of Assata Shakur." Faculty members and students will conduct a "community reading" of Shakur’s autobiography, a "critical discussion" of her life, and a "space for collective reflection and cultural appreciation." The school is Nancy Pelosi's alma mater, and she recently donated $1.5 million in Apple stock to establish a political center in her name.

The Trump administration's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put the nail in the coffin of one-size-fits-all COVID-19 vaccine recommendations Monday, updating its children and adult vaccination schedules to encourage physicians, nurses and pharmacists to discuss harms and benefits from vaccination specific to each patient before they get jabbed.
Parents may get an incomplete picture from healthcare providers who don't look too closely at federally funded research that promotes indiscriminate COVID jabs for kids, though.
A research consortium buried a startling finding in its peer-reviewed study on biologically elusive "long COVID" and reinfection in patients under 21, published in a prestigious U.K. journal:

Virginia’s Democratic attorney general candidate Jay Jones chillingly suggested that if more cops got killed after being stripped of legal protection, they would shoot fewer people, according new claims from an ex-colleague in the state legislature.
Jones, a former Democrat representative in Virginia’s House of Delegates, is already facing calls to drop out after Republican Del. Carrie Coyner revealed 2022 text exchanges between them in which he suggested he would shoot then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert over Adolf Hitler, and said Gilbert and his wife should have to watch his “fascist” children die. Coyner has come forward with new allegations against Jones, telling the Virginia Scope Monday

Hold on to your britches because you’re not going to believe this one. The Washington Post Editorial Board just admitted that the so-called "Affordable Care Act," one the most notorious pieces of Obama-era legislation foisted upon consumers by legislators and the liberal media as the saving grace of American health care, turned out to be an expensive mess.
The Post tried to play both sides of the fence in the ongoing government shutdown stand off with Republicans and Democrats, the latter of which demanded “Republicans agree to extend the Covid-era insurance subsidies without proposing any way to pay for it.” Then The Post ran one of the biggest plot twists ever

Everytown for Gun Safety, the country’s largest gun control group, has contributed $200,000 to Jay Jones’s campaign for Virginia attorney general and hailed the Democrat as an "advocate for safer communities." But now, as Jones is embroiled in scandal over text messages in which he fantasized about shooting a Republican state leader, Everytown is sitting on the sidelines.
Everytown, which donated to Jones’s campaign on Aug. 26 and named him one of its "Gun Sense Candidates," has not weighed in on revelations that Jones, a former Virginia house delegate, said in a series of text messages in 2022 that then-Virginia house speaker Todd Gilbert, a Republican, deserved "two bullets

Chinese illegal immigrants are obtaining commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and landing jobs in the U.S. trucking industry with support from a Chinese government-linked network, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation discovered.
The Chinese American Trucker Organization USA Inc. (CATOU) is a New York-based nonprofit trade organization registered as a 501(c)6 that has allegedly helped over 1,000 Chinese students obtain CDLs and has a 100% pass rate, according to its business filings, social media posts and website. Videos posted on social media by an individual who crossed the U.S. southern border illegally shows they were able to rapidly obtain California CDLs after taking courses taught by CATOU instructors.

United States immigration authorities are moving to dramatically expand their social media surveillance, with plans to hire nearly 30 contractors to sift through posts, photos, and messages—raw material to be transformed into intelligence for deportation raids and arrests. Federal contracting records reviewed by WIRED show that the agency is seeking private vendors to run a multiyear surveillance program out of two of its little-known targeting centers. The program envisions stationing nearly 30 private analysts at Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities in Vermont and Southern California. Their job: Scour Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms, converting posts and profiles into fresh leads for enforcement

he Democratic gubernatorial nominee in Virginia worked for a Saudi government-controlled school just after 9/11, at a time when the Islamic academy was already controversial for being controlled by the Saudi royal family and for its extremist textbooks which taught hatred of non-Muslims.
Abigail Spanberger, a former Democratic congresswoman from Virginia, is currently the favorite to be the state’s next governor, according to polling averages. When it was revealed during her first congressional run in 2018 that she had worked for the Islamic Saudi Academy in northern Virginia during the 2002-2003 school year, Spanberger said that she was “proud” and “not ashamed” of her work history, despite the fact that,

Melania Trump is in her “Top Gun” era.
The first lady channeled Charlotte “Charlie” Blackwood while visiting Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Va., on Sunday as part of a Salute to the Fleet celebration in honor of its 250th anniversary.
The 55-year-old donned a brown leather bomber jacket for this weekend’s event, which she paired with a collared white shirt and dark wash denim jeans. She completed her look with aviator shades and added a white baseball cap with “USA” embroidered across the front.
The look was reminiscent of Tom Cruise’s beloved “Top Gun” character US Navy aviator Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell’s love interest, played by Kelly McGillis in the franchise.
