Why I will never be governor of New Jersey

In Army basic training in 1968, I was involved in a scandal. The commander had posted a notice on the unit bulletin board. That notice had been removed, surreptitiously, by someone, and sent to a national magazine, which, if I recall correctly, published it. The notice was to warn trainees to avoid a certain house of ill repute near the base (post). Since the rural house had no street address, the warning letter had resorted to giving precise, specific instructions, including landmarks, which had the effect of telling the reader exactly how to get to the place we were ordered to avoid it.

Cheating is a resume enhancer for Democrats. Whether it is this Sherill person or Teddy Kennedy at Harvard.

I am sorry but I disagree. Yes, she violated her oath. But had she named those she knew had cheated she would have forever been known among her comrades (even leadership) as a ‘Rat’ and all trust inescapably lost. She paid a price - and then fulfilled her duty. Soldiers everywhere at day’s end fight not for their country or for some principle but rather for their ‘brothers at arms’ - the men and women in the trenches beside them. Had she ‘done the right thing’ no fellow soldiers would ever see her as one of them unless she died fighting. I understand the author’s point, but this reader refuses to ‘throw the first stone’ - especially over a childhood incident. No, I could not vote for her. But it is because I could never vote for someone running under the Dem banner of anti-American principles and immorality.

The correct action, in this case, was to pressure the guilty person's to confess. Failing that, the guilty person's would be ostracized. Assuming that she knew who was involved. But, we don't know what her actions were. Situations like this are a no win dilemma for anyone in the know. The legal action is to snitch on a fellow classmate. I can find 10 reasons off the top of my head to not vote for her. This isn't one of them.

The code of ethics at all the military academies specifies that not only will the cadet not cheat, but also, he must reveal those who do. That statement is flat-out wrong. There is no "Code of Honor" at Annapolis, where Midshipmen (Navy cadets? Please do your research, Robert.) abide by what's officially called the honor concept: "Midshipmen...do not lie...cheat...steal". That's it. No requirement to self-incriminate, and - unlike West Point or Colorado Springs - snitching on your shipmates is not mandatory. Apparently, she may have refused to cooperate with investigators. "Apparently, she may have..." - that's a real stretch. But she's not required to cooperate. Probable cause applies, and the Honor Board does not have the authority to bring her in as part of a witch hunt and simply demand she tell everything she knows or risk separation from the school, although the administration must have found something it didn't like since she wasn't allowed to walk with her classmates at the graduation/commissioning ceremony. But she wasn't the only one. The most-recent cheating scandal at the Naval Academy was a widespread mess that involved hundreds and very few know all the details. Did she see her roommate with a copy of the test? Did she hear someone say they had a copy? Did she hear someone say they knew someone who had a copy? Whatever happened, she broke no rules by not running to the administration and reporting what she may have seen or heard. You may not like that. And none of us like her as a candidate. However, the sanctimonious piling on over this is petty, partisan politics by those who don't know what they're talking about.

Interesting. At the very end of the article, the author seems to be hinting that he was the one who stole the flyer off of the bulletin board. Did anyone else get that impression?

Back in basic training we were doing yet another 16 hour KP shift. We were in the dishwashing room cleaning endless plates and glasses, and it was steamy and stifling hot. All the doors and windows were closed. Just to break the monotony I broke out with my booming bass voice in slave spiritual songs that they taught us in elementary school. Within a few minutes the biggest, blackest TI you ever saw burst in screaming to know who was singing. He was beating on counters and making all sorts of threats. Nobody ratted me out. These were the guys I wanted to go to war with. If nothing else we could have thrown clean plates at the enemy.

President Trump said Tuesday that Harvard University has reached a tentative deal with his administration to restore $2.4 billion in frozen federal grants. America’s oldest college will spend about $500 million to launch and operate trade schools, ending a clash over issues including discrimination against Jewish students and the use of race-based affirmative action, Trump said. “This would be a giant trade school, or series of trade schools. It would be run by Harvard,” the president told reporters in the Oval Office.

The release of NJ gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill’s full military file is being investigated by the National Archives’ watchdog after she complained it was leaked as part of a political hit-job. Will Brown, acting inspector general for the National Archives, announced a formal inquiry into how the files for the New Jersey Democratic rep got into the hands of a key ally to her Republican opponent, Jack Ciattarelli. Sherrill’s record was released after it was revealed the governor hopeful was forbidden from walking in commencement. AP “The illegal release of my military records — including my Social Security number — was no mistake,” Sherrill said on X earlier in the day Tuesday.
Why Trump Wants to Ban the Muslim Brotherhood

When Americans consider “charity” they picture their contributions providing clothing for the poor or food for the hungry. When they hear the word “missionary" they picture Christians going abroad to save souls. However, these terms mean very different things to the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization that President Trump has twice attempted to label as terrorist. In radical Islamist teaching, zakat (charity) is not simply about helping the poor; it is about advancing Islam. The aim is to expand the ummah -- the worldwide Muslim community -- through dawah (proselytizing). Americans are right to be deeply concerned about what is happening in our own country.

America’s national debt is a ticking time bomb, exploding right under our noses. As of September 2025, the gross national debt has ballooned past $37 trillion, a staggering figure that’s not just numbers on a ledger but a crushing burden on every hardworking American. Interest payments alone are gobbling up 17% of federal spending, sucking the life out of our economy like a vampire at a blood bank. But here’s the good news: President Donald J. Trump, in his triumphant return to the White House, is unleashing a crypto revolution that’s poised to slay this debt dragon. These bold policies aren’t some pie-in-the-sky gamble—

President Donald Trump spoke at the United Nations last week in an address that the world needed to hear. It was of course picked apart, particularly his claims about global warming. He twisted facts and made “false claims,” say the gatekeepers of the Great Climate Narrative. Is this so? Let’s look: Trump called the global warming scare a “hoax.” Not a word we would use, but he’s closer to the truth than the climatistas. It’s obvious to those with open minds that the global warming tale is the product of academic fraud, gross exaggerations,

The Trump administration just pulled off something most Americans probably didn’t think was possible: shrinking the federal bureaucracy in a massive and meaningful way. On Tuesday, more than 100,000 federal workers are expected to walk out the door through a deferred resignation program, marking the largest single-year reduction in the civilian federal workforce since World War II. Factor in layoffs, buyouts, early retirements, and natural attrition, and the government could shed roughly 275,000 employees by the end of 2025.

Iran used to be a very sophisticated country...and then, in 1979, the Mullahs moved in. While Tehran is still a fairly modern city, the moment you step out of it, you enter the backwaters of what almost fifty years of Islamic extremism will do to a nation. Add in the Mullah’s genocidal goals for Israel, and the fact that they’ve been fomenting terrorism worldwide for their entire existence, and you have a country that badly needs a powerful intervention. Donald Trump began that intervention when, partnering with Israel, he completely destroyed Iran’s military. The Israelis wiped out Iran’s defensive abilities, its command structure (both people and infrastructure), and its nuclear scientists.

Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan has signed an order to increase the voluntary return grant for alleged asylum seekers, increasing the payout to €2,500 ($2,900) for individuals or €10,000 ($11,700) for families who willingly drop their asylum claims and leave the country, The Irish Times reports. This is nearly double the previous payouts, which stood at €1,500 ($1,800) per person or €6,000 ($7,000) per family, prior to the order from Minister O’Callaghan.
