Would-be Trump assassin Ryan Routh was declared guilty on Tuesday on all charges, but The New York Times accidentally published the wrong article. In journalism, outlets often pre-write obituaries, election outcomes and potential court verdicts of major cases before they occur, using the basic facts of the story and adding whatever key details are essential on the day of. However, a screenshot indicated that the New York Times accidentally published a headline, "Man Found Not Guilty of Trying to Assassinate Trump in Florida." The lede of the now-scrubbed article added, "In a surprise verdict, a federal jury acquitted Ryan Routh

Following 25 years of what oil and gas executives categorize as hostility to the industry, the state is now making a play to keep those companies from leaving. Concerned with the exodus of oil and gas companies, refinery closures and the expensive price of gasoline in the state, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation last week that fast tracks the approval of 2,000 new wells per year over the next 10 years in Kern County, a significant oil-producing region. Andy Walz, Chevron's president of Americas products, said during an appearance on FOX Business, "I think it's been a tyranny of

ESTES PARK, COLORADO ‒ As her kids danced their stuffed animals around a 3D map of Rocky Mountain National Park's peaks and valleys, Chrissy Whissler began ticking off all the national parks she and her family visited this year: Nine so far, with at least three more planned before year's end. Democratic U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota was confronted on Friday about whether she regrets the timing of her comments immediately following the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Omar said in an interview on CNN, "It's one thing to care about his life because obviously so many people loved him, including his children and wife. But I am not going to sit here and be judged for not wanting to honor any legacy this man has left behind. That should be in the dustbin of history, and we should hopefully move on and forget the hate that he spewed

Liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor on Tuesday warned that the poor quality of civics education means Americans may not know the difference between a president and a king. Sotomayor bemoaned the lack of education about such issues as the rule of law, saying not enough people have a basic understanding of the power of the president and the limits imposed upon that authority by the Constitution. "Do we understand what the difference is between a king and a president?" she said at a civics conference held at New York Law School in Manhattan. "And I think if people understood

Gov. Tim Walz announced Tuesday that he’ll seek a third term for governor, ending speculation that he would walk away after a second term that coincided with an unsuccessful bid for vice president. (Snip) Walz has also come under scrutiny for COVID-era nutrition and housing assistance programs that have fallen prey to misuse by bad actors. He took a turn on the national political stage last year after being chosen by Kamala Harris to join her presidential ticket. After a three-month sprint, the Democratic ticket lost and Walz returned to a different political landscape. Minnesota Republicans called attention to the

A Democrat running to be the top law enforcement official in the state of Ohio is facing backlash for a series of social media posts disparaging Charlie Kirk in the days after the conservative activist was assassinated. "F*** Charlie Kirk," Elliot Forhan, Ohio Democratic candidate for attorney general and former state representative, posted on Facebook on Monday, days after Kirk was gunned down while speaking to a large gathering of students at a Utah university. "Charlie Kirk was a champion of tyranny, not democracy," Forhan said in another post. "We should not pretend otherwise." In another Facebook entry, Forhan shared
