Members of Chicago's law enforcement community are taking offense with a comment made by Mayor Brandon Johnson, after he said this week, in part, "jails and incarceration and law enforcement is a sickness." The comment sparked outrage online and in the Cook County State's Attorney's office. Cook County State's Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke said she was deeply offended by the statement. Some argued that Johnson's words were taken out of context. If Johnson had his way the jails would be emptied and all criminals would run free.

I bet a lot of them are sending out resumes if they haven't already. Cops expect to be hated by the public, but hated by ones own superiors is just too much. Personally, my life got a whole lot better when I traded my badge for a set of tools.

Chicago cops are retiring, plan to retire, or simply leaving the city. No one wants to work where they are not wanted. The mayor just gave them yet another reason to leave. One question for the mayor - how large is your security detail and who pays for it?

Just connect the dots, connect the dots and you will see the problem affecting every democratic run city in this country. Once you connect the dots you will also see the elephant in the room that no one dares to address. Until the problem is dealt with our cities will remain in chaos. It's that simple.

Liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor on Tuesday warned that the poor quality of civics education means Americans may not know the difference between a president and a king. Sotomayor bemoaned the lack of education about such issues as the rule of law, saying not enough people have a basic understanding of the power of the president and the limits imposed upon that authority by the Constitution. Pritzker himself said crime is just a part of big city life, just after a bloody Labor Day weekend where 54 people were shot and seven were killed. We're now halfway through September, and Mayor Johnson continues to object to putting criminals in prison. (X) As one X user said, "Imagine saying that to the families
