A Michigan woman said her 11-year-old son was expelled after he disassembled a loaded gun his classmate brought to school. Savitra McClurkin said she has been trying to enroll her son, Sakir Everett, into another school ever since he was abruptly kicked out of Dwight Rich School of the Arts in Lansing in May. "I'm upset with everybody," McClurkin said in a phone interview Monday. "I'm not just mad at the district, I'm mad at some of these teachers, administrators, as well as the city, because they did not handle this right."

Poor kid...getting expelled was actually the best thing to happen to him since now he doesn't have to worry about getting shot by his "friends " at school.

That boy should have been commended, not expelled. He did the right thing. And kudos to his mom and godfather for teaching him how to make a handgun safe. They did the right thing, too. My son and daughter knew how to do that at age 10 or 11 also. I told them it was a life skill. Now they’re shooters, too.

Schools have a philosophy that everyone involved in an incident is in the wrong. So if a thug assaults your kid and after taking some punches and trying to unsuccessfully disengage, your kind fights back, both kids are held accountable. Schools are supposed to be responsible for your kids but their sense of right and wrong do NOT reflect society. Self defense is a recognized RIGHT in society. Not so in school, partly because these things can devolve into he said, she said situations and be hard to sort out. Schools don't even try anymore. Many years ago, I had a problem with my daughter being assaulted on the school bus and her backpack being ripped. The school wanted to sweep it under the rug because the other student had a "tough home life". We told them if the other student was allowed to continue riding the bus we would get a lawyer and sue the school. The kid was removed from the bus. Granted, dealing with a gun in school (how the heck did that even happen?) is another level of problem but the school chose the wrong response. That's not a surprise. They are failing in academics AND in properly socializing our kids.

Good on him for making the gun safe, but he tore it down and hid the parts after doing so. Good judgement is not a common thing in kids. Thats why they're kids. Hopefully better judgement will come with age and experience. I'm thinking there is more to this story. Why did he hide the parts rather than give them to a teacher? Did he plan to return for them later? If so, why did he throw away the ammunition? There is a lot here not being said.

"Sakir, who knows how to hunt and learned about gun safety from his godfather," "Asked why Sakir did not immediately tell an adult about the gun, McClurkin said it was because he was scared and was never taught what to do in that situation. " These two statements don't add up.

Liberal women are kinda nuts. Have you noticed? Well, a new study out of Quebec, published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, might shed some light on the reason why. The researchers found that women who have abortions are more than twice as likely to end up hospitalized for psychiatric problems compared to women who carry their pregnancies to term. This isn’t some fringe finding; it’s based on a massive study tracking over 1.2 million pregnancies for up to 17 years. The numbers don’t lie: for every 10,000 person-years, 104 women who aborted ended up hospitalized for serious mental health issues like psychiatric disorders, substance abuse,

This comes as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have increasingly been targeted by anti-ICE activists who have escalated their efforts to disrupt immigration enforcement and
