NEW YORK — Gov. Kathy Hochul on Sunday urged New Yorkers to vote for Zohran Mamdani for mayor of New York City, giving the Democratic nominee one of his most significant endorsements to date in the contest to lead the nation’s biggest city.
Writing in the New York Times’ opinion section, Hochul said that while she and Mamdani diverged on some issues, they came together on the importance of addressing the affordability crisis in the city and across the state.
“But in our conversations, I heard a leader who shares my commitment to a New York where children can grow up safe

A pledge by more than 4,000 actors and filmmakers, including some Hollywood A-listers, to boycott the Israeli film industry was met Saturday with a very public denunciation by Paramount.
The mega studio is the first in Hollywood to condemn the anti-Israel pledge, as reported by Deadline.
The outlet notes the controversial promise was issued in an open letter signed by some Hollywood luminaries including – but not limited to – Olivia Colman, Lily Gladstone, Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Peter Sarsgaard, and Elliot Page, as well as director Ava DuVernay.
The missive demanded the boycott, claiming Israel’s film studios are implicated in the Jewish state’s fight Palestinian terrorists and their supporters.

While it's been obvious from the beginning that Charlie Kirk's assassin was radicalized by left-wing ideology, the last 24 hours have been illuminating.
For days, there has been a concerted attempt to claim Kirk was essentially responsible for his own death, not only suggesting that he deserved to be murdered for his viewpoints, but also that he was killed by someone on the right. That perverse gambit has manifested in two ways.
Large left-wing accounts, including prominent Democrats like David Shuster, Adam Kinzinger, and Laurence Tribe, have outright claimed Tyler Robinson was a "right-wing" MAGA adherent. Meanwhile, instead of pushing back on those falsehoods,

We are saturated in the climate of violence that the Democrats and their media adjunct have fostered. It is easy to take it as a given, but the assassination of Charlie Kirk prompts us to pause over it, as John did in “Why do they call Trump Hitler?” Hugh Hewitt’s interview with Victor Davis Hanson this past Friday reminded me of this classic expression of the conventionWhat has become the conventional leftist cliché represents the conventional wisdom of the left. It extends far beyond Trump to those of us who support him, such as Charlie Kirk. It runs so deep that Joe Biden

Tesla and SpaceX billionaire Elon Musk called the left “the party of murder” during a remote appearance he made at a giant freedom rally in London, England, on Saturday.
The comment was featured on the Elon Clips account on X on Sunday morning. “…You see how much violence there’s on the left with our friend Charlie Kirk getting murdered in cold blood this week and people on the left celebrating it openly, the left is the party of murder and celebrating murder,” Musk said in a conversation with British activist Tommy Robinson.
“Let that sink in for a minute,

Accused Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson is not cooperating with law enforcement, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) said in appearances on network Sunday shows.
“He has not confessed to, to authorities,” Cox told ABC News’s This Week co-anchor Martha Raddatz. “He is, he is, he is not cooperating, but, but, but all the people around him are cooperating. And I think that’s, that’s, that’s very important.”
Authorities arrested the 22-year-old on Friday. He currently is in custody with charges expected to be formally filed on Tuesday, Cox said.
In his appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, Cox put an end to a claim

The feds have widened their investigation into the assassination of Charlie Kirk to probe whether pro-trans, online groups and others connected with Tyler Robinson knew in advance about the plan to kill the MAGA influencer, The Post has learned.
Law enforcement sources said that investigators are examining leftist groups both in Utah and online to figure out if they helped him with the shooting — or at least heard it was going to happen.
The probe includes groups in online gaming community Steam, as well as a pro-trans organization called Armed * SLC, which took down their Instagram after Kirk was killed, the source confirmed.

All has been revealed. Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) writes on his Substack,
When the Preference Cascade Becomes a Flood: Everything is becoming clear.
Read the whole thing. Reynolds touches on the themes that I’ve described as “unknown knowns.” He writes that two truths have now been revealed for everyone to see. First,
The murder of Charlie Kirk at the hands of a leftist gunman has revealed that many, many more Americans — and even people elsewhere around the world — supported Charlie and his views than was commonly appreciated.

Blue-state governors Gavin Newsom of California and J.B. Pritzker of Illinois both promoted the leftist meme that President Donald Trump was dead — just days before the assassination of conservative Charlie Kirk.
The meme was gleefully spread by left-wing trolls on social media when President Trump took a break from the limelight on Labor Day weekend. Trump later dismissed the rumors when he spoke to reporters. Despite the fact that Trump had survived two assassination attempts a year before — and survived a bullet that grazed his ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last year — Newsom and Pritzker boosted the meme.

This has been a difficult week, with the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk. It's prompted a lot of discussion about dangerous rhetoric and security.
Earlier in the week, President Donald Trump went out to eat in Washington, D.C., to demonstrate that the city is safer after his crime crackdown. He went to Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak, and Stone Crab, near the White House. He's certainly made the streets safer for people in D.C., and he was cheered when he arrived. While Trump was at the restaurant, there was another concerning moment that raised questions about the Secret Service. As Trump was being ushered to his seat

Australia is once again trying to return to its roots as a prison colony, as the state of New South Wales reaffirmed that it is illegal to pray that “transgender” people will accept the sexes God gave them.
It is difficult to wrap one’s mind around the fact that formerly Christian Western “democracies” like Scotland and Australia are actually enacting laws against prayer. Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) enacted a law earlier this year that the state’s attorney general, Michael Daley, just affirmed does in fact ban not only praying with but praying for people to recover from the mental illness

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told his audience to “send love” to Charlie Kirk’s family on Friday night at his band’s concert in Wembley, United Kingdom.
“For the final time for a few years in London, let’s raise our hands like this and send love anywhere you want to send it in the world,” Martin said, adding, “There are so many places that might need it today. So, here it comes from London.” “You can send this to your brother or your sister. You can send it to the families of people who have been going through terrible stuff. You can send it to Charlie Kirk’s family,”
