The far-left New Republic, in the immediate aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, declared that Democrats’ responses condemning the killing were “too tasteful for the moment,” warned that “empathy helps prop up Republicans and Trumpists as legitimate and normal political actors,” and urged Democrats to adopt a “callous, perhaps, but short of cruel” tone — even suggesting they say, “I’m sorry his family is suffering. What I'm about to share with you is going to seem like a parody at first. The words coming out of the reporter's mouth are going to sound so unbelievable that you're going to wonder if I got trolled by an AI deep fake. On Tuesday’s ABC News Special Report about Utah County officials formally announcing charges against the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s murder, chief national correspondent Matt Gutman expressed affinity for the suspect and admiration for his love story with a trans person, gushing the text messages released by authorities were “lovingly” stated, “very intimate,” and “very touching.” Gutman was reporting from the site of the press conference when he told World News Tonight anchor David Muir something “that stood out” was “those text messages” between the suspect and his roommate/lover.
Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect accused of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk during an event in Utah last week, sent text messages to his transgender-identifying lover after the shooting explaining that he had “had enough of” Kirk’s “hatred.”
Prosecutors released the text messages in a court filing on Tuesday, shortly before Robinson’s expected arraignment on charges of aggravated murder and weapon and obstruction offenses. If Robinson is convicted on the aggravated murder charge, prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty.
As we reported, charges were filed against Tyler Robinson, the man accused in the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk.
Utah County District Attorney Jeff Gray announced that Robinson faced seven counts, including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering. During CBS’s brief reaction Tuesday to Utah County officials announcing charges against the suspect in the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, CBS Evening News co-anchor John Dickerson was forced to listen to then recap for viewers which he had denied hours earlier that Kirk was murdered for his political views.
Speaking moments later to correspondent Carter Evans at the press conference, Dickerson reiterated that “[i]n addition to those text messages that were read, we heard about the possible motivation as Robinson’s parents explained he had become more radical, more left leaning.”

The Washington Post has fired now-former global opinions editor Karen Attiah after she appeared to celebrate the political assassination of Charlie Kirk. That comes amid a range of firings across multiple sectors of people who apparently have no self-control whatsoever, nor the common decency to practice it.
Kirk was murdered by a far-left radical who had a "trans-furry" boyfriend while holding an open debate on a Utah college campus. The shooter, Tyler Robinson, fled after firing the fatal shot before his father and a youth pastor detained and turned him in a day later.
