California Passes Reparations in College
Admissions, Despite Prop 209

The California legislature passed a bill last week that would provide reparations to descendants of slaves in the form of college admissions — despite Proposition 209, which forbids the use of race in college admissions. The bill, AB 7, provides that California State University, the University of California, independent institutions of higher education … and private postsecondary educational institutions … may consider providing a preference in admissions to an applicant who is a descendant of slavery.” It applies to anyone “who can establish direct lineage to a person who, before 1900, was subjected to American chattel slavery.”

Comments:

Saving democracy by ignoring Prop 209 which forbids it.

Your "reparations" are the K-12 "free" public education you've been afforded all your years. What you did with that education is what makes you what you are today. Another "handout" isn't going to make you "better." It only serves to kick your "can" down the road a little further. Besides, the blacks' "avenue to reparations" ended when all those other minorities began washing ashore from Asia, and elsewhere, minorities who needed NO government handout, only good parenting to emphasize the value of education and hard work as force multipliers in one's life.

How are these people going to prove their ancestors were slaves and not slave owners. After all over 10,000 Black families owned slaves before the Civil War.

Define "chattel slavery" and its time frame. My slave ancestor got here when the system was the informal and illegal "indentured servitude for life." He and his immediate descendants managed to escape the system. So, does a guy who was most likely a member of the 1619 "twenty and odd" coffle count or not? (Not that I'd ever want to get anywhere near a California school.)

A judge has thrown out the top counts in Luigi Mangione’s state murder case – rejecting claims that the accused killer can be charged as a terrorist — in a huge blow to prosecutors. In a ruling released Tuesday, Judge Gregory Carro tossed charges of murder in the first degree as an act of terrorism and murder in the second degree as a crime of terrorism against the 27-year-old Ivy League grad. The judge did keep alive Mangione’s other second-degree murder charge. The decision means that Mangione still faces 25-years-to-life in the state case, but not the 25 years to life without the possibility of parole that he had been facing.

Randi Weingarten humiliated herself on social media regarding Charlie Kirk’s assassination. She’s a lefty, so it’s not all that unusual, but this terrible incident has sparked an exceptional level of mental regression that just leaves me in awe. The Left tried to argue that Tyler Robinson, the suspect who assassinated Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University in Orem on September 10, was a conservative and a Kirk fan. He was such a supporter that he killed the Turning Point USA founder. Absolute lunacy. He was a leftist who shacked up with some transgender—that’s not MAGA at all.

A public school teacher has been suspended after allegedly showing a video of Charlie Kirk’s assassination to students as young as 10 in his class, authorities in Canada said. The teacher also suggested that Kirk deserved to be killed, and gave the young students a speech about anti-fascism and transgender issues, according to a report. “Several students from his class went home and complained to their parents, traumatized at witnessing the on-camera death, which they were forced to witness numerous times over,” a source told the Toronto Sun after the shocking incident at a school in Toronto on Thursday.

Breitbart News reported that Kirk was shot and fatally wounded about 12:20 p.m. during a Q&A at a speaking event at Utah Valley University (UVU). Since then, law enforcement has identified and arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the shooting. In the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk by a violently deranged and hate-filled leftist (yes, that is a confirmed fact), some on the hard Left have been publicly expressing justifications for, and even celebrations of, the murder. These ghouls do not represent America, nor do they represent America's center-left coalition writ large. Many politicians, public figures and private citizens on the 'progressive' end of the spectrum have prominently and unequivocally denounced the killing. This must be acknowledged and embraced with gratitude by all people of good will. The forces of decency must stand together against the cancer of political violence and twisted vigilantism.
