Federal appeals court upholds $83.3M E.
Jean Carroll judgment against Trump

President Donald Trump is still facing a $83.3 million payment to writer E. Jean Carroll after a federal appeals court rejected his challenge of a defamation verdict against him Monday. The ruling from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholds a lower court decision finding that Trump did, in fact, defame Carroll. Trump's lawyers argued his comments about Carroll were protected by presidential immunity and that the verdict in the case was unjust. The three-judge panel rejected both of those claims. "We conclude that Trump has failed to identify any grounds that would warrant reconsidering our prior holding on presidential immunity. We also conclude that the district court did not err

We knew this was coming. It's going up the chain. Lawfare in action. "The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit was established in 1891. The Court is located in New York City and exercises appellate jurisdiction over courts in six districts within the states of Connecticut, New York, and Vermont: District of Connecticut." What would expect from these America haters?

Well, not only did he not defame her, he actually famed her. This is the only recognition this woman will ever have of her existence. Also, #5, speaking of bad jokes about "that kind of woman", the one that I think fits her perfectly is: "she's the kind of woman that smokes DURING sex." (Crude, I know,,,but so accurate.)

Carroll accuses Trump of rape, Trump calls Carroll a hate filled liar, and she sues for defamation. Where is the defamation? Where are the damages? How does the justice system find in her favor? It's lawfare. It's corruption. An appeals court actually upholds all this garbage. This is wrong on so many levels. That this could happen and go so far shows how sick our government has become.

Until this is pursued in a criminal case, nothing E. Jean Carroll says is relevant. In a criminal case, she would need to remember the date. . . By the way, this is a failure of our justice system. A person is innocent until proven guilty and a civil trial is not where guilt should be determined. A person is due a fair trial. I read yesterday the same article posted here on Lucianne that George Conway and Reid Hoffmann are part of this. Does not surprise me at all. . .

And since no one honest can trust the Judicial system any more, the entire 'social contract' is null and void and chaos will reign. My guess is that SCOTUS will pass on this for political reasons. They should take it because of the serious errors at trial and the underlying legislation that allowed E. Jean Looneybin and her cohorts to bring these charges ... remember NY passed a law that gave plantiffs a special window to sue for "damages" occured outside of the statute of limitations. Basically, it was a "bill of attainer" (unconstitutional) directed at Trump. If my old, feeble memory still serves me, I think I remember the Judge allowed Ms. Looneybin to introduce all sorts of questionable evidence and flimsy "proof," while prohibiting the Trump defense team to provide a serious defense to the charges. And the second trial was even a bigger farce. Since when has objecting to a jury verdict been considered as "defamation?" The message is, DO NOT GO TO NEW YORK. DO NOT DO BUSINESS IN OR WITH NEW YORK. Find ways to separate your connection with anything involving that state where the rule of law is based on who is favored and who is selected to be oppressed.

A federal judge on Tuesday granted a temporary restraining order blocking President Donald Trump’s firing of Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook for now. The ruling means Cook will remain on the board of the central bank until her case is heard at length. She is allowed to continue carrying out her work during that time. In granting the order, U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb said that "the Court will enter an injunction directing [Fed Chair Jerome] Powell and the Board of Governors to allow Cook to continue to operate as a member of the Board for the pendency of this litigation."

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to decide the legality of Donald Trump's sweeping global tariffs, setting up a major test of one of the Republican president's boldest assertions of executive power that has been central to his economic and trade agenda. The justices took up the Justice Department's appeal of a lower court's ruling that Trump overstepped his authority in imposing most of his tariffs under a federal law meant for emergencies. The court swiftly acted after the administration last week asked it to review the case, which implicates trillions of dollars in customs duties over the next decade.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday temporarily allowed the Trump administration to hold on to billions in foreign aid funds that it wants to cancel, setting up a high-stakes battle over the president’s power to unilaterally cancel funds mandated by Congress. The one-page order, signed by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., paused the part of a lower court ruling that required the government to pay some $4 billion of the $4.9 billion rescissions request that the Trump administration sent to Congress last month. The Supreme Court order also asked the initial challengers to the funding freeze to respond by this Friday.

At the time, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) proclaimed that "justice has prevailed." I suspect he won't be quite as optimistic about or respectful of the Supreme Court's latest smackdown. The Supreme Court on Monday lifted a judge’s limits on Los Angeles-area immigration stops based on a person speaking Spanish or working in a certain profession. The Trump administration urged the high court for the emergency intervention, calling the order a “straitjacket” on enforcement efforts in an epicenter of the president’s immigration crackdown.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has become the rare figure who draws as much raw hostility from Democrats as Donald Trump ever has. That fact alone is remarkable. Democrats once celebrated Kennedy as the scion of a legendary political dynasty. They now treat him as a menace to society. His break from the blue ranks last year, and the populist movement he has built, mirrors Trump’s earlier rebellion against establishment Republicans. That similarity explains why both men are uniquely loathed by Democratic insiders. The fury stems not just from Kennedy’s decision to leave the Democrat party, but from how he left.
