Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced Tuesday that she will be revoking security clearances for 37 current and former intel officials for allegedly abusing the public’s trust by manipulating information and conducting political activities. The officials on Gabbard’s list includes former top aides to Obama Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, who was involved with a discredited intelligence assessment that claimed Russia favored once-and-current President Donald Trump to win the 2016 election over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

When Mark Warren, a 66-year-old Alaskan, was told Vladimir Putin intended to bring him a new motorbike he understandably thought it was a far-fetched scam. In fact, he thought it sounded 'bats**t crazy.' But, astonishingly, the Russian president did indeed bring a motorbike and sidecar to his summit with Donald Trump, and his officials then delivered it to Warren in a hotel parking lot in Anchorage. As publicity stunts go it was perhaps the most bizarre Putin has ever performed and Warren, a retired fire inspector, is still trying to make sense of it.

Solving America's illegal immigration crisis didn't require amnesty -- just better leadership. Last week, the Center for Immigration Studies released a study showing America's foreign-born population dropped by 2.2 million from January to July. While the number of naturalized U.S. citizens increased, there was a staggering 1.6 million-person drop among illegal immigrants. CIS estimated that this represented a 10% decline in the country's illegal immigrant population. While determining the number of illegal immigrants always requires estimation, this drop is supported by anecdotal evidence. "Nurse in US for 40 years self-deports," a recent Newsweek headline reads.

Vladimir Putin confirmed last week at their Alaska summit that if Donald Trump had been president three years ago, Russia would not have invaded Ukraine. It was probably an attempt at flattery (which Trump did not acknowledge) but, still, it’s probably true. Even if it’s pure flattery, I cannot imagine Putin bothering to bestow such flattery on Trump’s predecessor. At this same summit, Trump ordered a flyby of a B2 bomber – the ones that recently made a significant impression on the world, on Iran, and on Iran’s desert nuke factories.

According to Bocharov, a fire broke out at the site following the attack. Residents told Russian pro-government media outlet Shot that they heard between four and 10 explosions, with drones flying at low altitude and bright flashes visible in the night sky. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed 13 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the region.

Mark Hamill, the man most famous for playing the character of Luke Skywalker, recently admitted that he nearly packed his bags after Donald Trump won re-election in 2024. Apparently, the thought of another Trump term sent the actor spiraling into the dark side, ready to abandon this country altogether. He even floated the idea past his wife, Marilou York, offering her a choice between moving to London or settling in Ireland. It's a bold proclamation on its surface, but like so many of Hollywood’s political temper tantrums, it ended in retreat.

I wrote previously about the out of control federal judiciary and the measures Congress and higher federal courts could take to rein in the activist judges. One of those remedies was for the United States Supreme Court to disallow the use of Nationwide Injunctions. SCOTUS ruled against the use of Nationwide Injunctions under the Judiciary Act of 1789, as I wrote about here (though, the High Court left the door open to the abuse of the Nationwide Injunction under other authorities, such as “class action” relief). In the meantime, the Trump Administration just keeps winning one case after another.

It has always been hard to believe that the truck-bombing of the A.P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995, which killed 168 people, including 19 children at a daycare center, was planned by just one or two perpetrators acting alone. However, the official story states that the mastermind was Gulf War veteran Timothy McVeigh, and that the two others sentenced with him only helped him in various ways. Right from the start, warning signs indicated that the investigation was being misled. The FBI developed a story claiming that a group called the Patriots Movement, which included anti-government extremists and white supremacists, was responsible for the attack.
