US-Japan Trade Deal Is a Masterpiece

Original Article

President Donal Trump just notched another key trade deal this week with one of America’s biggest trading partners, Japan. America’s negotiator-in-chief managed to secure a half-trillion dollars of investment and preferential treatment for US companies in one of Asia’s biggest markets, which also helps box out China, America’s number-one adversary. The deal will ultimately mean more investment, income, innovation, and jobs in the US. Japan has agreed to invest $550 billion, with 90 percent of the profits staying stateside. This means more construction and factories, more research and development, and more employment of Americans.

Trump has always said he wants FREE and FAIR trade. Tariffs are only a tool to help us get to the real goals. The 15% tariffs with Japan will yield 30 billion to offset our deficit. The investment in the US and sales opportunities in Japan will yield far more over time. It is amazing how WRONG the naysayers have been about Trump's economic strategy. The doors for trade are opening wide and the advantages to the US are enormous. Plus, as mentioned, it is a geopolitical realignment. Countries with good trade relationships will do well and support their partners in other areas. Predatory trade countries, like China, will find it harder to get along with others and doors will be slammed in their faces. In a sense, trade has always been one of America's strongest weapons. Used fairly, as Trump is trying to do, it yolks together countries for mutual benefit. Countries seeking unfair advantage will find it a choke collar on their actions until they yield.

I'm amazed how the naysayers in business reports just don't get it...it's really very simple....if you have what I need...then I'm buying...but I must sell...to you something you need...it's called fair trade....it's called 101 in business schools...I think the economy predictors are mostly political hires...to step on our economy's toes to stop President Trump's winning...winning...winning....well...lots of luck with that one...the stocks are rallying and gas is cheaper again....

Talk of ignorance in our politicos .Trade ans tariffs were a MAjor contributing factor in Our Revolutionary war .Brits wanted to control it .The tea tax was left as a token when the intolerable acts were modified …BUT the navigation acts ..with only brit vessels able ( legally able ☠️( yeah privateers ) ) to carry international trade .., impress American sailors and hence , capture the profit of American raw materials they “finished “.Those acts were more than wide reaching than mere tea ( cause tea is only one item and citizens avoided that . But every area had goods to trade for “needs and wants “ and that was “tariffed “ efficiently with no way around and no market to sell in .The king’s tax was not so much to pay for his war ..it was to profit from US and keep France out of our raw materials. We paid our French debt , they did intervene sneaky to oppose their eternal enemies the brits , with tobacco mostly .

Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution vests the power to lay and collect tariffs with Congress. A Depression Era law (Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act, 1934) was passed by a democrat Congress and signed by a democrat president, delegating certain conditional tariff powers to the democrat president. Supreme Court rulings emphasized that while a president can negotiate and respond to immediate threats, the imposition of generalized tariffs (e.g., Japan, Vietnam, Italy, etc.) still requires congressional approval, reinforcing the separation of powers fundamental to our constitutional republic. Recall that Trump justified his foray It is an easy call for some to cheer Trump's presidential-level business acumen, even if he is operating outside the plain language of Article 1; however, would the same cheers be offered for Newsome, Harris, or any other loathsome democrat?

#5 makes the point I have been trying to make for the past several months more eloquently and succinctly than I have been able to. Whether you agree with President Trump on this policy or not, and I'm a supporter, I agree with the Constitution more. The power to impose taxation and tarrifs rests with Congress. The dubious (in my opinion) legislation that delegated of some of these Congressional powers to the President does not absolve Congress from its responsibilities, nor does it give the President unlimited discretionary power to set tarrifs based on ad hoc decisions and letters. If a future Democrat president decides to slap tariffs on any country that he feels isn't doing enough to fight global warming, we will be painfully reminded that what we allow President Trump to do for us, the next president can do to us. Even an omnibus trade bill ratifying the trade understandings reached so far would be better than what we have now. And it would go a long way to restoring the Constitutional separation of powers that is our only protection against the next Democrat.

President Donald Trump confirmed Friday that the U.S. and Israel had ended talks with the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, due to the organization’s intransigence. As Breitbart News reported, the U.S. and Israel left Doha, Qatar, on Thursday, after Hamas refused to compromise. Some of the group’s proposals had been so extreme that even Arab mediators had rejected them. There are still 50 Israeli hostages in Gaza, 20 of whom are thought to be alive. Trump told reporters that he had anticipated that the last hostages would be the most difficult to convince Hamas to release, because “Hamas understands what happens when you don’t have any bargaining chips.”

Last week, federal judges voted to reject extending her tenure, opting to elevate her deputy, Desiree Leigh Grace, for the job. It was planned to take effect once Habba’s 120-day interim appointment expired. The Trump Justice Department wasn’t going to let that slide. Attorney General Pam Bondi fired Grace, saying this administration doesn’t abide by the rulings of rogue judges. Now, Ms. Habba is *acting* US Attorney for New Jersey. Amid the rise of Islamist influence across the world, specifically in Western countries, France has decided to do what it does best: Preemptively surrender. It's striking how similar NPR's situation is to that of Planned Parenthood. Both organizations have an affiliate model and both just had a lot of federal money cut from their budgets. That means both are now hoping to find new sources of funding to keep the doors open. The NY Times reports there has been an increase in donations to PBS and NPR but so far the amount isn't nearly enough to offset the cuts. Over the last three months, as the prospect of the cuts intensified, roughly 120,000 new donors have contributed an estimated $20 million in annual value,
