WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to move ahead with plans to carry out mass layoffs at the Department of Education that were blocked by a federal judge. The conservative-majority court, without any explanation, granted an emergency application from the administration that blocks the federal judge's ruling. The court's three liberal members objected, with Justice Sonia Sotomayor writing a blistering dissenting opinion. "When the Executive publicly announces its intent to break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the Judiciary’s duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it," she wrote.

Reading through the article to see what they objected to, you see that Sonia Sotomayor's opinion is just that, and opinion. She did not stipulate what law the Executive was trying to break. In Leticia James' comments, she merely speculated that there was no plan or there wouldn't be sufficient numbers of people left to do the job. What they both outlined is they are only interested in protecting government jobs not worried if the government does not have sufficient funds to pay for the expanding government workforce without constantly borrowing hundreds of billions of dollars EVERY year.

The problem with the education department is that thousands of them passed through the modern public school system so they know nothing about real education. I went through it when teachers cared what you learned of the core subjects and didn't care what your sexual, racial and political throughts were and what your mother fed you for breakfast. When you misbehaved you knew that the "board of education" was going to come off its hook on the wall. Schools today are mini circuses with with monkeys and clowns a-plenty running the show. The Wide Latina is dead wrong, as usual. KBJ doesn't know how to spell well enough to write her own opinion.

If this true, it should be named the Indoctrination Department. We don’t need children’s innocent minds filled with extreme ideology when they should be learning to read, write and do math.

Trump’s Dwindling Patience With Putin 5 replies

After a long stretch of undeserved patience for the bad faith and brutality of Vladimir Putin, President Trump is now conveying, in action as well as words, that he is done being strung along. Trump announced Monday that, under a new arrangement, NATO would buy American weapons and pass them on to Kyiv, amounting to billions of dollars in new matériel. Trump said new Patriot batteries could reach Ukraine in days. Trump also announced his intention to impose new tariffs if there is no cease-fire within the next 50 days, although the details are vague, and he’s made these kinds of threats before.

Nvidia (NVDA) said it plans to resume sales of its H20 artificial intelligence chip to China, days after its CEO, who is visiting Beijing, met US President Donald Trump. Nvidia’s AI chips have been a key focus of US export controls designed to keep the most advanced chips out of Chinese hands amid national security concerns, restrictions that the US-listed company said would cut its revenue by $15 billion. The world’s most valuable firm is filing applications with the US government to resume sales to China of the H20 graphics processing unit (GPU), and expects to get the licenses soon, Nvidia said in a statement. “The US government has assured NVIDIA

The Lone Star State has boosted tax incentives for Hollywood to $300 million every two years, with guaranteed funding for ten years. According to my public school math, that’s $1.5 billion in corporate welfare for an industry that hates Texas, hates Texans, and opposes tax cuts for everyone else. Why do this? Texas has two reasons, per the far-left Los Angeles Times… Well, first off, Texas believes Hollywood business boosts other businesses — hotels, restaurants, etc. Okay, but what business doesn’t boost other businesses? Nothing makes film, TV, and advertising uniquely special in this regard. Here’s what drives me insane about this rationalization to give taxpayer-funded handouts to people who hate taxpayers, especially Texas taxpayers.

Spectre of Communism

This time it’s real, and undeniable. The Democrats have for years denied, with varying degrees of scorn or anger, that they are Communists, despite hating both free enterprise and borders, which are just the sorts of things you’d expect socialist internationalists to hate. Now, however, the deniability is no longer even close to plausible. As the Democrat candidates move ever farther to the left, it’s clear: a spectre is haunting the Democrats. The spectre of Communism. Back in 1848, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels published “The Manifesto of the Communist Party,” which began grandly, or ominously, depending on your point of view, with this statement: “A spectre

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Monday threatened Russia with steep tariffs and announced a rejuvenated pipeline for American weapons to reach Ukraine, hardening his stance toward Moscow after months of frustration about unsuccessful negotiations for ending the war. The latest steps reflect an evolving approach from the Republican president, who promised to swiftly resolve the war Russian President Vladimir Putin started when he invaded Ukraine three years ago. Trump has often criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for allowing the war to happen but more recently has expressed growing irritation toward Putin. “It just keeps going on and on and on,” Trump said. “Every night, people are dying.”
