One Year after Butler, Secret Service,
FBI Face New Questions

Still reveling in his political comeback after surviving two near-miss assassination attempts, last December, then-President-elect Trump stopped by the Christmas party of the Secret Service detail that was responsible for both saving his life and the failures that nearly ended it. (Snip) Fast forward seven months, just days away from the one-year anniversary of the failures at the Butler rally: The Secret Service announced limited disciplinary actions for those it deemed responsible for security lapses. Six agents, including Myosoty Perez, whom Trump was referring to at the December party, have been placed on 10-42 days of unpaid leave for their roles in the egregious security breaches.

Comments:

This is a very thorough account, including facts about the Secret Service that I don't think have been made public before. Many SS people have quit and they are often being replaced by people who would not have been qualified previously, like obese, uneducated, and otherwise negative traits. The final paragraph might make you laugh, as it did me, although it is serious.

FTA: 'As a result of the siloed information sharing, many federal and all local law enforcement planning and staffing the event, including Perez and other members of the Trump protective detail and the Pittsburgh Field Office, were unaware of the active threat.' If the most powerful and important man in the world cannot be protected, the rest of us surely are expendable. Incompetence, the result of laziness, or intent? The SS probably missed the days when protecting the President was very much like watching over a potted plant.

Trump would have enjoyed better protection in Butler by pulling a dozen Marines from the nearest base and assigning them the job. The SS failed in planning, communication and performance of their one and only task. One mistake is too many.

This is why so many Americans, MAGA or not, have so little faith in our institutions, especially federal is that NO ONE is ever held accountable for serious screw ups, fraud, corruption, etc. Well, I guess you could say Epstein was the exception... /sarc

Anyone with a brain has figured out the SS expected to leave Butler with a dead candidate. You can understand a mistake but this was all planned.

Concluding everybody is at fault is not accountability, nor is they need better equipment, training, and communications. No, what the SS needs is better personnel.

You don't need a bachelor's degree to be an effective SS agent. Hire from the American police force, if they have a BS fine but not required with good recommendations and performance reports.

I have no respect for the agent or the agency where the agent backed away from the shooter on the roof instead of sounding the alarm or drawing fire, which is his job. Of all the failures, that was number one.

Wait for it.........The FBLIE likely paid off Crooks then got rid of his bank account info to cover it up! The Secret Service people assigned were OBIOUSLY Picked for this task because they were either totally Incompetent, Paid OFF, OR so new at the job they had NO CLUE!

Today is the first anniversary of the shooting of the Republican presidential candidate ithe awful corrupt American media lost all interest in the story, which remains the most under-investigated presidential assassination attempt of the last hundred years. Curious. Here is the column I wrote a year ago with a few annotations twelve months on: Let's cut to the chase - the US Secret Service: In on it? Or just totally crap? (Snip) Having been informed of both foreign and domestic threats against Donald Trump, they created conditions that greatly assisted anyone wishing to take a shot at the President to do so.

Dear Democrats in Los Angeles, Mind if we have a little heart-to-heart? Oh, I hear you. “You’re a Trump supporter. You don’t have a heart.” No, I’m not offended. If I can deal with high school friends who think I stink like sweaty socks from a boys’ gym locker because of my politics, I can deal with you. After all, I was you. Yes, I was a Hollywood liberal. What’s more, I know what a lot of you were feeling deep down as you watched rioters torch and trash your city, attack your officers, shut down your freeways while waving the flag of a foreign country.

Last year, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, despite being in her early 50s and having an undistinguished career before her affirmative action appointment, published a memoir. You might be forgiven for having missed it when “Lovely One” came out. As the media politely notes, it was “briefly” on the New York Times bestseller list and is now going for half price on Amazon. That is mostly to be expected of the ghostwritten memoir of an obscure judge. Except that Jackson received a $893,750 advance for her memoir and is now reporting $2 million in profits last year. These would be record numbers for a Supreme Court Justice’s biography from a book

Last week, Israel launched a bold and necessary campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran — a regime that has spent the last four decades chanting “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” while funding terror from Beirut to Baghdad. Jerusalem had hoped that, in this historic moment, the United States — and particularly President Donald Trump — would rise to meet it. Not with speeches or sternly worded social media posts, but with the kind of moral clarity and action that once defined American leadership. Instead, we hear delay. Hesitation. In 2021, Justin Shubow, the president of the non-profit National Civic Art Society, approached a team of supporters with a starry-eyed vision: Renovate New York City’s Penn Station according to a grand neoclassical design. Shubow knew that the idea was a long shot. (Snip) During the first Trump administration, he had championed the revival of classical architecture as the chairman of the Commission of Fine Arts, and he wanted to bring the same aesthetic principles to bear on a new Penn Station — not just for the sake of the city’s harried commuters, but as a statement about the resurgent greatness of America in the Trump era.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is a despicable organization. It has spent its lifetime attacking and lying about organizations that don’t agree with its leftist policies. But it’s finally being challenged for defamation by the Dustin Inman Society, an organization involved in immigrant issues. Unfortunately, SPLC claims they are a hate group and anti-immigration. The Society is pursuing a defamation lawsuit against the SPLC: A federal judge says one of Georgia's most vocal advocates for strict immigration policies can move forward with its defamation lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center over being labeled an ‘anti-immigrant hate group.’ (Snip) The decision allows the Dustin Inman Society to demand emails,

San Francisco native Tucker Carlson is celebrating the demise of the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism. Just kidding. He’s actually having conniptions. As a (the?) principal voice of the growing “woke right,” Carlson preaches blissfully ignoring global threats, especially if Israel factors into the equation, while sanctimoniously attacking anyone who realizes it’s a cruel world out there, filled with evil actors waiting to attack. Remember 9/11? Remember when Iran orchestrated slaughtering 241 Americans in Beirut in 1983, or hundreds of American deaths in Iraq? When Iran promised death to America, it wasn't bluffing. They take jihad seriously. Consider Carlson’s June 13 absurdity: The real divide isn’t between people who support Israel

As Americans began to prepare for Memorial Day weekend, the Supreme Court quietly handed President Donald Trump a significant victory in the fight to rein in the rogue D.C. bureaucracy. In a short, two-page order, the court stayed a district court order that directed Trump to reinstate two federal officials whom he had fired. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett voted for the stay. Justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor, and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented. The obvious effect is that the two officials (Snip) cannot retake their positions in either agency unless they win their lawsuits.

The real nakba [catastrophe, for Palestinians] was that they started a war and lost it. Well, if you start a war, that is what can happen. The Trump administration should beware of countries where the mouth says one thing but the legs do the opposite. Believe the legs. The Iranians and Palestinians have not given up their dream of eliminating Israel and America. Iran's leaders do the same thing. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reassures Americans that "We are not seeking war, we favor negotiation and dialogue." Meanwhile, Khamenei calls for the elimination of the "Zionist regime" and endorses "Death to America."

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to move ahead with plans to carry out mass layoffs at the Department of Education that were blocked by a federal judge. The conservative-majority court, without any explanation, granted an emergency application from the administration that blocks the federal judge's ruling. The court's three liberal members objected, with Justice Sonia Sotomayor writing a blistering dissenting opinion. "When the Executive publicly announces its intent to break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the Judiciary’s duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it," she wrote.

We’ve noted before that today’s Democrats are operating with a mental deficit. A new poll further confirms they are a broken people. While it’s good for a cheap laugh, because they are often smug, condescending and hateful to those who disagree with them, their fragile psychological state poses a threat to the republic. A Rasmussen poll released Monday found that 60% of Democratic voters still believe “the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to win the 2016 election.” As disturbing as that is, 69% of those who self-identify as “liberals” believe Donald Trump conspired with Moscow to beat Hillary Clinton.

But it doesn’t matter what most Republicans want, because elections are won on the margins. I often disagree with Steve Bannon on policy, but his instincts for political tactics are razor sharp.
