A video published by a San Antonio television station shows a Texas National Guard Blackhawk helicopter aircrew delivering seven girls rescued from the Independence Day Guadalupe River flood near Kerrville. The helicopter lands near Ingram High School and seven young girls run for safety. At least 23 girls were reported missing from Camp Mystic near Hunt, Texas, in Kerr County. It is not clear if the seven girls rescued by the Texas National Guard are from the list of missing girls. The video shows the TNG Blackhawk landing near Ingraham High School. Seven girls quickly exit the aircraft and run to the shelter.

Horrible horrible. Offering prayers for the families who have members missing. I cant even imagine what they are going through. My heart hurts for them. For those who are wondering "why didnt they get out in time?" You have to understand the nature of the geography in the Texas Hill Country: It is known as the Llano Uplift, which is a geological formation born of a massive earthquake/uplift millions and millions of years ago that exposed what had been millions and millions of years before THAT the bottom of the Jurassic/Triassic era ocean that split the known North American continent in half. What you have in the Hill Country is massive miles of limestone (spattered here and there with outcrops of granite) that essentially were worn down and carved out by horrific floods like the one that occurred today and the one that wiped out Wimberly some few years ago. I spent four years going to school in San Marcos, but even before that, because of having family in that same area, I knew like everyone else that anyone who lives in the Hill Country learns quickly to pay heed to flash floods. They aren't trivial, they arent "manipulations" and they arent easy to escape once that wall of water comes bearing down. There is VERY LITTLE SOIL to hold on to all that water and it follows lowest paths on its way to the Gulf. The Llano and the Guadalupe feed into the Colorado River. They are mostly tame and fun and beautiful and full of life and pleasure...but when you have massive amounts of rain such as Texas has been experiencing, there's very little place for the water to go. As I said, the little rivers that run through the Hill Country carved out those limestone hills with floods like these, and give very very little warning. The best that local weathermen can do is warn of likelihood and indicate signs that those living in flash flood areas be prepared to deal with it. In a situation like this one, I doubt anyone in Kerr County had much ability to do much. It is genuinely a natural disaster and a horrible one for that. Im only explaining all of this because Im getting tired of seeing the "itz da weather machines!" saying stuff that is truly ignorant. Geography matters, people.

The usual Dem fools are (of course) already trying to blame Trump for supposedly "cutting" FEMA funds. What's next? Blaming him for the great biblical flood and tipping his rich friend, Noah, about the coming deluge.

Lived a few years in Austin. Beautiful land with brutal weather. The Colorado goes through Austin and remains separate from the Guadalupe; but the Llano feeds the Guadalupe, and the geological summary of the Hill Country and rain-and-flood dynamics in #2 are basically spot on. The dams along the Colorado form nice reservoirs for stabilizing the water supply; but flood-mitigation is a benefit of at least equal importance.

27 dead. 9 children. 20some girls from Christian Camp Mystic still unaccounted for. The girls who were in the part of the camp out affected were 8-10 years old. Still difficult to get to isolated camps because roads are out. One councilor who got a few girls out said tje water was up too their chins. They are saying they have plenty of help local, state and federal. The mayor saying "It's going to be a sad day..." Early AM the rains began - river rose 26 feet in 45 minutes. They are now talking "recovery". We know what that means. 7

The tragic news out of Texas continues to get worse as the death toll from a flash flood has risen to 51, including at least 15 children. Over two dozen girls from a summer camp in the area remain unaccounted for, with the search-and-rescue effort continuing in the night. Sadly, the chances of finding more people alive diminish by the hour, and the situation is likely to become even more heartbreaking over the next few days. Having younger children myself, I simply can't fathom what the impacted families are going through. My prayers are with them, and I can continue to hope

When the officer tried to approach the suspect, an unknown number of assailants started shooting and the officer was struck in the neck. Luckily, he was treated and released by a local hospital, but the incident is nonetheless disturbing:

President Donald Trump signed the GOP’s “big, beautiful” tax and spending package at a White House ceremony on Friday, fulfilling his wish to enact the biggest domestic policy legislation of his term by July 4. Trump triumphantly signed the GOP megabill after months of hard-fought, interparty negotiations that, earlier this week, culminated in contentious House and Senate votes for the legislation. Passing the megabill is a major victory for House Speaker Mike Johnson (R., La.) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R., S.D.), who had to navigate deep political and ideological differences between different GOP factions within their chambers.

Camp Mystic, a girls-only camp on the Guadalupe River, was evacuated on Friday due to heavy flooding in the west of Kerrville in Kerr County. This comes as multiple deaths were reported in Texas after heavy rain caused flash flooding. Over 10 inches (25 centimeters) of heavy rain fell in just a few hours overnight in central Kerr County, causing flash flooding of the Guadalupe River. The Kerr County sheriff's office confirmed fatalities but did not provide additional details. Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly said that an unknown number of children are missing from summer camps. He further added that at least six people have died.

Donald Trump has never been one to shy away from a fight, but this time, he’s done more than just rattle the Democrats—he’s practically handed Republicans the keys to a midterm landslide in 2026. The playbook was simple, the execution flawless, and the results devastating for the opposition. Here’s what happened. When Zohran Mamdani, the antisemitic socialist, won the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City, many Democrats were less than thrilled. Last month, the Associated Press reported that his victory “exposed anew the fiery divisions plaguing the Democratic Party as it struggles to repair its brand nearly half a year into Donald Trump’s presidency.” Many progressives cheered

It is impossible to know what went through his head when Mamdani lied on his Columbia University admission form, but the most obvious reason for doing so would have been to give himself an advantage over other applicants. If that was the case, it was not just lying; it was cheating. Lying on a college admission form is not a criminal offense, but most would say it is unethical.

ATLANTA — President Donald Trump and other Republicans have long criticized states that take weeks to count their ballots after Election Day. This year has seen a flurry of activity to address it. Part of Trump’s executive order on elections, signed in March but held up by lawsuits, takes aim at one of the main reasons for late vote counts: Many states allow mailed ballots to be counted even if they arrive after Election Day. The U.S. Supreme Court last month said it would consider whether a challenge in Illinois can proceed in a case that is among several Republican-backed
