A local activist who handed out protective face shields to protesters last month during demonstrations against the Trump administration’s chaotic immigration raids was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday.
Alejandro Orellana, a 29-year-old member of the Boyle Heights-based community organization Centro CSO, faces charges of conspiracy and aiding and abetting civil disorder, court records show.
According to the indictment, Orellana and at least two others drove around downtown L.A. in a pickup truck distributing Uvex Bionic face shields and other items to a crowd engaged in a protest near the federal building

Check out Centro CSO. I suspect that they were the source of the Uvex masks or the money for the masks that Alejandro Orellana was handing out. The masks are $30+ each. Maybe they ware bought at a large quantity discount.

Prosecuting the low level funky serves a purpose. It takes a foot soldier off of the field and provides a warning to others. And testimony, confessions and discovery lead to those behind it and funding it.

But he was also handing out "..boxes of water, hand sanitizer and snacks.”. He couldn't be aiding violence.

From another article onOrellana:
\"Orellana, a US Marine veteran, is a UPS worker and a shop steward for the Teamsters Union who has been active for years in fighting for social justice causes — including with Centro CSO, which is named as an homage to labor leader and activist Cesar Chavez, according to social media posts.
Centro CSO has protests calling for the charges to be dropped planned for throughout Los Angeles on Thursday and Saturday.
“An attack on one of us, is an attack on the people’s movement!” its slogan reads."

His ortgainization - CentroSO - is centered in largely Hispanic Boyle Heights/East LA and has other chapters throughout the state. Its website tells you where Orellana and others like jhim are coing from Their self-description:
"Centro CSO is an independent grassroots organization that organizes for the rights of the undocumented, quality public education, and supporting, in solidarity, other communities seeking social justice in Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles
Centro CSO's leadership is made up of an Executive Committee and has 3 active committees: Education, Police Accountability, and Immigration. "

So he's handing out equipment to violent protesters. All of those masks and what ever else he was giving away had to cost a nice piece of change. They were all new, still in boxes. This guy is the low hanging fruit, follow the money to the big guys.

The subject aside, this article is a textbook example of the bias in our media. Notice how the shields are described as "protective', which they are, but the thought of protecting seems so good and kind. Then there was "the Trump administration’s chaotic immigration raids", uh the only chaos was brought about by the anti-Ice protesters. I won't click on the original article, but I'll wager it is full of similar "framings" of the actual issue. Once upon a time, the Los Angeles Times was a great newspaper. Not anymore.

"the Trump administration’s chaotic immigration raids" - I think a more accurate description would be legal and effective immigration raids, but we know that would never be used by the Marxist news media.
