Top Economist Admits Trump May Have ‘Outsmarted

Donald Trump has a knack for making the so-called experts look foolish, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the ongoing debate over tariffs. The political and economic elite have ridiculed Trump’s approach, insisting that his tough stance on trade would backfire, cause a recession and cripple the U.S. economy. Yet despite all the apocalyptic predictions, the economy hasn’t gone south, and predictions of a looming recession have been quietly walked back. Recently, a prominent anti-Trump economist admitted what many on the right have been saying from the beginning: Trump’s tariff strategy wasn’t the reckless gamble the media made it out to be.

Comments:

President Trump outsmarting a bunch of self-important lettist reactionaries?? That doesn't sound too difficult!!

Half of these "experts" are just democrat partisans in disguise, the other half are just that dumb not to know the tariffs would work in our favor. Okay, that was a little harsh. The other half just look dumb compared to President Trump.

Matt forgot to mention that most of our trading "partners" had much higher tariffs on US goods than the US had on theirs. Some, including Japan, had no tariff trade barriers. They might have been necessary immediately after WWII, but I'd say they've long outlived their usefulness.

The truth that made tariffs work is that the rest of the world needs America to survive but we can get along fine without them. We're such nice guys that we can force their hand and still make them love us. Trump had it exactly right, they would huff and puff but they would come around.

Outsmarting such "experts" is easy. Just listen to what they say and do the opposite. Trump actually looked back in history and saw what we had done years before, then asked himself, "Why wouldn't that work now?". The answer was, it would. The experts just think about how things have been working now. Change is big time scary for business. That's why so many businesses get into trouble. Times change but the business fails to adapt with the times because "That's not the way we do things.". Then things start to fall apart. Either the business fails or they realize the risk of change is better than the imminent collapse of the business. Generally, it takes a significant crisis to trigger a significant change. Another thing to know about experts. They tend to tell you what you want to hear. When CNN asks an expert something, they want the answer to fit their expectations. They are walking advertisements for confirmation bias. The expert knows this and tailors their response to make them happy. The expert gets paid and gets called again the next time. Even if the expert turns out to be wrong, they are protected by the realization that predictions are never certain. The customer shrugs their shoulders and say, "That's what the experts told us." and try to walk away from the mess. There is no accountability and that is a feature, not a bug.

Others could have done what Trump has done on tariffs, but they lack the backbone and natural leadership abilities of Trump. In the past when tariffs have come up, the first sign of resistance, the Republican backed down and listened to the "experts'. Trump on the other hand knew what he could do, didn't listen to the so called experts, and stuck with his plan. Others caved. Nice to have a leader for once.

Trump has built a business empire on the strength of his financial acumen...the financial "experts" who critique his tariff policies, not so much. He has proved himself to be financially brilliant, and done it in the school of hard knocks, so it should come as no surprise that his partisan critics can't keep up.

It just keeps getting better, gang. While President Donald Trump continues on a winning streak seldom seen in presidential politics, the Democrat Party continues to self-immolate — devoid of constructive dialog, much less offering solutions other than throwing fire bombs (pun intended?) — over virtually everything that comes down the conservative pike. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Democrat theatrics are about to erupt into full-metal histrionic meltdown — at least in Florida — after Gov. It’s not every day the Supreme Court hands down a legal earthquake, but this week, it did. In fact, it dropped an entire tectonic plate on the heads of the radical Left. A string of rulings came down that can only be described as massive wins, not just for President Trump, but for America. On their own, any one of these would be a generational victory. Together? They’re a total body slam. Let’s recap the carnage. First, the Court ruled that states can cut off taxpayer dollars to abortion mills like Planned Parenthood. A source, who declined to be named, confirmed that account to Reuters but said there were serious questions about whether the Iranian officials were being truthful, and described the intercepts as unreliable indicators. The report by the Post is the latest, however, to raise questions about the extent of the damage to Iran's nuclear program. A leaked preliminary assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency cautioned the strikes may have only set back Iran by months.

It states that any individual or government that challenges or endangers the leadership and unity of the global Islamic community (the Ummah) is to be regarded as a "warlord" or a "mohareb," defined as someone who wages war against God.
