It looks like President Trump’s reconciliation package will be the last significant piece of legislation that Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) will vote on before he leaves public life. Yes, you read that right—the North Carolina Republican is calling it quits. He won’t be running for re-election. [Tweets]
Tillis was set to run for another term in the 2026 midterms, although he faced a two-front war, one of which was created solely by his own poor decisions. On the Democratic side, he was going to face a tough challenge from former Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper.

This didn’t all just happen spontaneously. No, this has been going on for awhile. Seems to me Thillis has been at it with Trump for awhile, he called Trump’s bluff and took things a step too far and now Trump has crushed him and his political career.

A member of the RINO Hall Of Fame.....
Thomas Roland Tillis
Wikipedia
"He supports a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants, and initially opposed President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration to divert funding to a border wall"
"In 2023, the North Carolina Republican Party voted to censure him, particularly over his stances on immigration and gay marriage"
Not going to run for re-election? You were going to be toast, anyway,

That's a break. He reminded me of Jeff Flake (AZ) - always wavering and wobbling over supporting what you would expect any Republican to support.

Since Tillis now has nothing to lose, he'll be voting no on anything Trump wants until his time in the Senate runs out. That's why a retiring Republican is everyone's worst nightmare.

Sorry to file this "report" with the L-dotter community, but NC is no longer the "blood red" state where Jesse Helms won 5 consecutive Senate elections ('72, '78, '84, '90, '96), ending a 30-year run in 2002. Gov. Goober is inexplicably popular in this state, and sadly, I think Lara Trump is the only Republican who had a good chance of beating him.... But I believe the window for her to establish residency and run in the primaries is now closed.... so it won't be her. Maybe Republicans will pick up another Senate seat elsewhere next year, but I'm afraid they're giving this one away. Sad.

Some speculated that Roy Cooper would be ka-ma-la's running mate. He's been in politics since the late eighties; it's time for him to retire and do something else. Democrats are working hard to turn NC the bluest blue. You can thank many leftists for that. I sure miss Jesse Helms. SC needs to get rid of Lindsay too. It would help if PDT made the same Imma get you outta here promise to Lindsay.

He said he had a problem with Medicaid cuts in N.C. What he has a problem with was Medicaid cuts to non-citizens. He can always find work out at Sleezy John's used car lot.

This is so awesome. I live in NC and have been embarrassed that this jerk represents my state. Never voted for him, never would and thankfully never will get another chance to not vote for him.
I would rather lose the seat to a democrat than have him in the seat.

Wrote this POS a love note some weeks ago. Perhaps others wrote him the same trash that I threw in his filthy face. Good riddance of very bad delusional rubbish.

I voted for thilles over Kay Hagan along time ago,
oddly she was probably more truthful than thillis.
Now North Carolina gets to choose a former Governor Roy "Possum Grin" Copper
as a replacement. Remember he did NOTHING for Western NC after Hurricane Helene.
