Iran’s parliament has voted to close the Strait of Hormuz, the vital shipping channel through which around 20% of the world’s daily oil flows.
The move, which could block $1 billion in oil shipments per day, is likely to send oil prices soaring.
It will come into effect pending a final decision by Iran’s Supreme Council. The Supreme Council’s decision must be made by tonight, according to Iran’s state-run Press TV.
Iran’s major escalation in response to US strikes on its nuclear facilities “will be done whenever necessary,” Email Kosari, Commander in the Revolutionary Guards, said on Sunday.

90% of Iranian oil exports flow thru the straits. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face

Going to mine the Strait, idiots? Iran is about to lose its navy again. Reagan took 'em out once. There are advantages to sending enemy watercraft to Davy Jones's Locker. Fishermen in the area can concentrate on all the artificial reefs, grouper hangouts, created by sunken Iranian shipping.

What if Iran’s Supreme Council had a meeting and nobody came because Israel has their coordinates.
Email Kosari may be on the short list.

Do they believe trump will stand idly by and allow them to close that Strait? Perhaps they do, but if I were an Iranian i wouldn't leave shore in a rowboat. There is going to be a whole lot of Sinking going on.

We have enough oil and natural gas in this country to last us for a couple of decades. Just crank up the rigs and reopen all the fields Obama and Biden closed. We never need to be dependent on any other country again.

Sure, you can try to close it. You can also watch your navy get wiped out again in 8 hours. (For those who don't know get that reference, look up Operation Praying Mantis. "Proportional" response took on a whole new meaning that day!)

Sink their fleet - including tankers at their docks, keep a few we'll armed planes in the air to shut down missile sites. Threaten to destroy their refineries.

Doesn't the UAE have something to say about this? After all, they are on the south side of the strait...

#2, have you ever eaten Wreckfish? Delicious, tastes much like grouper and got its name from where it likes to hang out.

Trump should rename the Strait of Hormuz to stir the pot and maybe some journalists might actually figure out on a map where it is.
Then another presser including the insane comments of Democrats with the message to America that is why we can't rely on either their confidentiality or their patriotism when it comes to matters of foreign relations and national security.

We don't need any of the oil that passes through the Straits of Hormuz. But our key allies do. And so does China. But passing a resolution to close it, attempting to close it and effectively closing it are all different things. If they are rational they won't try. But if they do there is the US Navy on one side and the Israeli Air Force on the other.

Agree with #2. We wiped out Iran's navy before. Trump would do it again. The Trump-haters (worldwide) are desperate to portray Trump's strike on Iran as a big mistake. Right now, Trump has huge support. His enemies are trying to erode that.

This is not only economic suicide for Iran, they can soon add China to its enemies list because they’ve cut off their own exports. If they stick one of their own tankers noses out of that Strait it’s going to get smoked. They really need to stop playing stupid games.

As far as the Iranians closing the Strait of Hormuz. . .Hey Iran! Do you ever get that sinking feeling? If you've not experienced it, give it a minute.
However much oil we are getting from Iran, it's too much. We need to drastically decrease the amount of oil we import from the Middle East altogether and tap our reserves which are pretty massive. This is so important for national security anyways, just like manufacturing in the U.S.
