DEDHAM, Mass. — A jury found Karen Read not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges Wednesday in the 2022 death of her Boston police officer boyfriend, a case that attracted legions of true crime followers who erupted in cheers when word of the acquittal spread outside court. The same jury found her guilty of a lesser charge of drunken driving. The jury handed down its decision after deliberating for at least 22 hours since June 13. Cheers from the crowd outside could be heard in the courtroom as the verdict was read. With cheering supporters, Read departed the courthouse with her attorneys and family.

Inuries did not match prosecutor's theory: Although the contention was that she had hit him with her car, there were no injuries below his head. "Manner of death" did not work. The alternative theory was that there was a fight in the party house and his body was dragged outside.

Not only did the injuries not match getting hit with a car, the police on scene deliberately screwed up the forensics. The prevailing theory is he was killed by (an)other cop(s) at the party, and they tried to frame the girlfriend.

Simply not enough evidence to convict her. Proving a motive isn't required to convict, but there wasn't enough reason for her to kill her boyfriend.

Knew the story but didn't really watch any of it. If there was a story about it on the news I was watching I watched but never looked for any further info. Injuries didn't match being hit with a car. To me that was the biggest take away. But I must admit I found something creepy about her. Can't put my finger on it. It appears this might be the correct verdict. I hope that the victim's family can get some kind of justice but I doubt it. I can't see them spending any more time on this. Maybe a private agency can help.

Been following it for 3 years. She's a real piece of work but didn't kill him. It was a drunken party at a cops house. The victim most likely attacked the home owner the owners dog attacked the victim. Victim fell hit his head and died. Cops panicked and dragged body outside. Local cops covering for each other. The judge was friends with the cops... Never should have been a second trial..

If you buy her and her slick lawyer's defense, O'Keefe's cop friends killed him and one of their dogs caused scratches on him. Why did she, in a documentary about this, keep saying "I hit him, I hit him"? Jackson was your typical slick defense lawyer, blaming everyone but Read. She did a good job of saying she was the victim, not the poor guy who is dead. I hope O'Keefe's parents sue her for millions of dollars and win in a civil trial.

The cop who owned the home has a son, Chris, who allegedly was a cocaine dealer.in Canton, MA. John O'Keefe, a Boston cop, knew about his dealings. The theory is as soon a JOK entered the house he started in on the kid about the drugs and the kid and the other cops there jumped him. The dog also attacked JOK and he most likely fell back and hit his head on a hard surface. They all then took him outside by the side of the road where they hoped it would look like a snow-plow hit him. But with Karen up at 5AM looking for him they decided to pin it on her. The sad thing is if Karen just went into the house with him he would be alive.

#10 says "scratches" on his arm. Lol, google the picture of his arm, you will find it. Those are dog bites with deep puncture wounds. A cat scratches your arm. A German shepherd inflicts real harm. Oh and why did they "re-home" their 8-year-old dog the very next day? Betcha they killed the dog too.

The Trump administration is attempting to deport Salvadoran national Alexander Alfredo Palacios Guevara, a convicted murderer and Surenos gang member with two attempted murder convictions, who was shielded from removal by a Biden-era Convention Against Torture (CAT) deferral. Guevara was briefly released by ICE due to the CAT protection but was re-arrested due to public safety concerns. The Department of Homeland Security is now exploring sending him to a third country, pending a Supreme Court decision on a recent Boston federal judge's ruling against such removals.

Here’s a story you won’t see the mainstream media cover, ever: the white African farmers once demonized and stripped of their land and livelihoods under Robert Mugabe’s Marxist dictatorship in Zimbabwe didn’t just vanish into thin air. These fighters packed up, crossed the border, and rebuilt. And guess what? They’re doing amazing. If you don’t recall, back in the early 2000s, Zimbabwe’s government kicked off a so-called “land reform” plan that drove white farmers off their land, often violently, and handed them over to Black Zimbabweans. Roughly, about four thousand white farmers were forced out, and many were attacked or killed. It got so bad that now, years later, Zimbabwe is

Associate Justice Clarence Thomas has never been shy about telling it like it is in his Supreme Court opinions. So, it came as little surprise when he demolished the so-called “expert class” in the high court’s Wednesday opinion in U.S. v. Skrmetti. In a 6-3 ruling, SCOTUS deemed a Tennessee law prohibiting the surgical and chemical castration of minors does not violate the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause.(snip) Thomas also authored a separate concurring opinion “to address some additional arguments made in defense of Tennessee’s law.” It was here that the Court’s most senior justice shattered attempts by plaintiffs (snip) to “accord outsized credit to claims about medical consensus and expertise.”

Motive to Support Israeli Strikes Against Iran

In the beginning of this discussion we might discover the deeper motive for President Trump to support Israeli strikes against Iran. Remember, President Trump proactively diffused any reactionary Russian response by talking directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin prior to the eruption of conflict inside Iran. That discussion puts the Chinese interests into a somewhat isolated position. From recent Trump comments we can also see the carrot of sanction removal at play. China has significant economic exposure within Beijing’s financial ties to Iran. With 90% of Iranian oil production fueling the Chinese economy any disruption would have considerable impact.

Members of a federal appeals court on June 17 questioned what role courts should have in reviewing President Donald Trump’s authority to deploy the National Guard and U.S. Marines to Los Angeles. The three-judge panel of the San Francisco-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit is considering the Trump administration’s bid to extend a pause it issued on June 12. On that day, the appeals court granted a request by the administration to temporarily stay a lower court order issued by District Judge Charles Breyer, directing Trump to return control of the California National Guard to California Gov. Carbon dioxide, we’ve been told over and again, is the enemy that must be subdued if we are to avoid catastrophic global warming. It is, however, a faulty premise. Physics, not politics, tells us that man’s CO2 emissions will not cause catastrophic climate change nor an increase in extreme weather. “The common belief that CO2 is the main driver of climate change and the EPA Endangerment Finding assertion that ‘elevated concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere may reasonably be anticipated’ to endanger the public health and welfare are scientifically false,” conclude the authors of a new paper.

Even when the podcast host had limited knowledge of the subject matter (Joe Rogan, I’m looking at you), the benefit of the longform platform was that it facilitated an open-ended, free-floating conversation where both sides learned more about the other. But there was an important catch: It only worked when both sides were acting in good faith.

Israel needs a 15-ton ‘bunker buster’ bomb to destroy the last untouched nuclear facility in Iran, but only the US has one. Such a powerful weapon – the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal – is needed because the target, Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, is built some 300 feet inside a mountain near the city of Qom, two hours south of Tehran. The heavyweight explosive is known as a GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator and was designed by Boeing for the United States Air Force. Its huge weight means it can only be delivered with a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber – a jet Israel’s air force does not possess.
