Import Prices Signal Low Inflation, China
Reducing Prices To Fend Off Tariffs

U.S. import prices were unchanged in May, the Labor Department reported Tuesday, offering fresh evidence that inflationary pressure from global supply chains remains muted—even as tariffs rise and trade tensions persist. The Federal Reserve is meeting this week and will announce its latest interest rate decision on Wednesday. The May import data adds to a recent string of soft inflation reports that may influence the central bank’s outlook as it weighs whether further easing is warranted.

More bad news for the 'rats and their cheerleaders, the so-called ''media.'' As we all know, this doesn't fit their doom and gloom scenario.

Wait just a minute here... Weren't import prices supposed to skyrocket and shelves supposed to be empty because of Trump's tariffs? As usual, all of the doomsday predictions were wrong.

The nattering nabobs of national destruction are all apparently wrong. Their books and predictions are all falling apart. Trump did not build a business empire by writing books, he went out on the street, constructed buildings, made lots of money and learned how the system works by actually doing something and achieving huge success. Now he is passing that knowledge and success on to us. Anybody who bets against him is a fool.

I watch eBay to see the reaction of Chinese sellers to the Trump Tariff Talk, figuring they're the best barometer, volumetrically. Most try desperately to keep their prices down, but few offer, "Free Shipping," any longer. I recently purchased some electronic parts from an international corporation through their own web-sales ordering system. At one point of the ordering process there was a statement saying (paraphrasing), "The current U.S. tariff situation may require a surcharge not reflected in the original invoice price," which I sort of blew off as I placed the order. The next day I received my order, via UPS, and concluded it must have been fulfilled locally. A week later I received an email saying that I owed $100 more to cover the tariff fee on top of my $80 order. I ignored it, figuring it was simply a mistake. Another week goes by and a similar email arrives with slightly different wording, but with more people CC'd on it. Now I'm starting to wonder if some miscreants in the on-line sales department have hijacked the system to bilk unwary Americans out of their money... sort of a Trump Penalty after the sale. Upon closer examination of the email addresses, and hyperlinks, etc., I figured it was a legitimate corporate communication, so I responded with a "litany of facts" regarding my commercial interaction. - First being that so far, Trump had not established ANY tariffs on goods from Asia. - Second, I said that Trump specifically excluded electronics from the, to be announced, Asian tariff list. - Third, I said that the speed at which I received my order indicated it was already in the USA when I ordered it, and that any tariff it had accrued should have been shown to me at the time of sale, yet was not. After another email flurry their finance person responded to all that "Yes, the items were shipped from Fort Worth," concluding that it was a mistake to send me the original email. I was exonerated. In summary, be very careful regarding any item purchases from Asia (not just China), as unscrupulous individuals MAY use your contact information (email address) to send you urgent notices regarding past due monies over U.S. Tariff charges. They may also try including any increases from the time of sale until actual entry into the U.S.

Our sister site, Townhall, tipped us to a potential bombshell from FBI Director Kash Patel. Patel has handed a declassified intelligence report over to the Senate Judiciary Committee. This report alleges that the Chinese Communist Party plotted to create fake mail-in ballots in order to weight the 2020 general election in favor of then-former Vice President and Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden. Oops. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) has already indicated he still has Wray under multiple investigations and that just because he is no longer the FBI Director doesn't mean he won't be subpoenaed to testify on Capitol Hill.

Five days into Israel's "Rising Lion" campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and as President Donald Trump is now calling for the "unconditional surrender" of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other Islamists in the radical nation's government, Reza Pahlavi, the exiled crown prince of Iran, says now is the "best opportunity" for the Iranian people to "finally overcome this regime and get rid of it.” During an interview with ABC News aired on Monday, Pahlavi told the interviewer that the battle within Iran — in the minds of Iranian people, that is — has been going on for decades.

It’s strange how I keep being told by the regime media and Democrat political flunkies, to the limited extent that those are different things, about how I didn’t vote for what Donald Trump is doing to illegal aliens. I keep hearing about how I don’t want ICE raiding Home Depots, factories, and non-Beatles strawberry fields or sending away 30-year illegal aliens or illegal alien honor students. I’m told that Donald Trump only promised to deport criminal aliens – in the sense that they committed other crimes besides the crime they committed by being illegal aliens – and that Trump can’t actually send criminal aliens away either.

Democrats are quite the mess right now. Their approval levels are in the basement. They're more known for embracing illegal aliens and demonizing law enforcement rather than doing anything productive. They even attacked the parade celebrating the Army's 250th birthday, which honored our warriors for 250 years of service. In attacking that, they were attacking the very history of America. Then on top of that, they face all kinds of internal confusion. They're trying to reach out to groups of people who have moved away from them, like young men. So they voted David Hogg as a Vice Chair of the DNC to help bring in that demographic.

Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman, State Rep. Melissa Hortman, and their spouses were gunned down early Saturday morning by a man reportedly dressed as a police officer. Tragically, Rep. Hortman and her husband didn’t make it. The suspect, Vance Boelter, isn’t some random lunatic—he was actually appointed by Gov. Tim Walz to serve on a state Workforce Development Board as a private-sector representative. That detail alone raises serious questions. At the time of this writing, Boelter is still on the run after exchanging gunfire with police.

This Father’s Day, many families will fire up the grill, hand out neckties or whiskey bottles, and celebrate the steady presence of the men who raised them. We honor the sacrifices dads make — their hard work, protective instincts, quiet love. But for many fathers, especially those who’ve served in uniform or carried other unseen burdens, the greatest gift might be something simple but rare: a moment of real understanding. I was 24 years old when I led an infantry platoon into Iraq. We breached the berm on the Kuwaiti border and pushed into cities where the future of a war — and our own identities — was uncertain.

Carbon dioxide, we’ve been told over and again, is the enemy that must be subdued if we are to avoid catastrophic global warming. It is, however, a faulty premise. Physics, not politics, tells us that man’s CO2 emissions will not cause catastrophic climate change nor an increase in extreme weather. “The common belief that CO2 is the main driver of climate change and the EPA Endangerment Finding assertion that ‘elevated concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere may reasonably be anticipated’ to endanger the public health and welfare are scientifically false,” conclude the authors of a new paper.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a Tennessee law that restricts access to gender-affirming care for minors experiencing gender dysphoria, clearing the way for the medical treatments for transgender youth to be limited in half of the country. The high court ruled 6-3 in rejecting the challenge from the Biden administration, three families and a physician who had argued that Tennessee's law violated the Constitution's guarantee of equal protection under the law. The court concluded that the state's measure, enacted in 2023, does not run afoul of the 14th Amendment.

For political junkies who cut their teeth on “60 Minutes,” “Meet the Press,” CNN, and Fox News, longform podcasts were a godsend. Finally freed of commercial restraints and surface-level superficialities, longform podcasts took you beyond the talking points, treating audiences to a deep dive of a topic’s intricacies. Even when the podcast host had limited knowledge of the subject matter (Joe Rogan, I’m looking at you), the benefit of the longform platform was that it facilitated an open-ended, free-floating conversation where both sides learned more about the other. But there was an important catch: It only worked when both sides were acting in good faith.
