Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin said he considered stepping down from his post amid mounting internal turmoil caused by DNC Vice Chair David Hogg’s vow to primary members of the party. (Snip) Martin, who was elected to his seat earlier this year, said the infighting had left him demoralized and struggling to handle his job. “I’ll be very honest with you, for the first time in my 100 days on this job,” Martin said with a lengthy pause. “The other night I said to myself, I don’t know if I wanna do this anymore.” Martin said in the recording

The Democratic Party has reached an all-time low in popularity in the latest national NBC News poll, as it searches for a path forward after a painful loss to President Donald Trump — and as the party’s voters spoil for a fight between their leaders in Washington and Trump. Just over a quarter of registered voters (27%) say they have positive views of the party, which is the party’s lowest positive rating in NBC News polling dating back to 1990. Just 7% say those views are “very” positive. “With these numbers, the Democratic Party is not in need of a

Olympian gymnast Simone Biles on Friday night clashed with conservative activist Riley Gaines over a transgender athlete’s participation on a Minnesota high school’s softball team. Gaines railed against a post on social platform X from the Minnesota State High School League that celebrated Champlin Park High School’s first softball state championship win. “Comments off lol,” Gaines wrote, referencing MSHSL’s X settings. “To be expected when your star player is a boy.” The pitcher on Champlin Park’s team identifies as transgender and pitched a shutout, delivering a 6-0 win over Bloomington Jefferson High School on Friday. “You’re truly sick, all of

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California lawmakers this week advanced several efforts aimed at reining in utility profits and slashing electricity bills as part of their agenda to tackle the sky-high costs of living. The proposals would make sweeping changes to how utilities fund expensive infrastructure projects like putting power lines underground to guard against wildfires. They also would add more oversight around wildfire mitigation spending and put new requirements on utility requests to increase rates. Supporters said the goal is to make the big investor-owned utilities start sharing some of the costs to fight wildfires and build new transmission infrastructure. “This

More details about the Boulder Pearl Street Mall suspect, 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, are surfacing days after the attack. BOULDER, Colo. — Elise, a Boulder resident who did not want to share her last name, wants to know why Boulder Councilwoman Taiysha Adams is the only one not to sign the governing body's letter condemning the attack on the Pearl Street Mall Sunday. "The city issues a statement," Elise — who is Jewish — said. "Taisha Adams, the only city council member who didn't sign it." Elise said it's not the first time she's been upset with Adams, who she said has posted "antisemitic" comments on her social media. Denver7 reached out to Adams to ask why she didn't sign the letter.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will seek to energize activists at Democratic state conventions in South Carolina and California on Saturday, as the party's 2024 vice presidential nominee works to keep up the high national profile he gained when Kamala Harris selected him as her running mate. Walz, a former schoolteacher who went to Congress and then became his state’s governor, will keynote the South Carolina gathering in Columbia, traditionally a showcase for national-level Democrats and White House hopefuls. Another leader who often appears on those lists, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, spoke Friday night at the party’s fundraising dinner.

Former President Biden blasted the authors of a new book detailing his mental decline during the 2024 race for president and his final few months in office. Biden was asked about chatter regarding his health stemming from a new book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again” by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson after speaking at an event in Delaware on Friday. “You can see that I’m mentally incompetent, I can’t walk — and I can beat the hell out of both of them,” Biden said with a smirk

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — California is bracing for the closure of two major oil refineries, including one in the Bay Area. State lawmakers are sounding the alarm on what that could mean for gas prices. At just under $5 per gallon in Walnut Creek, some drivers are forking out over $100 to fill up the tank. With two refineries preparing to shut down, that’s expected to drive up prices. In the East Bay, the Valero Benicia Refinery is expected to close in April 2026. Down in Southern California, owners of the Phillips 66 refinery are also planning to stop operations
