Dept of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem appears on Face the Nation to discuss the escalation of violent protests in Los Angeles, California.
As President Trump called for the National Guard to enforce order in Los Angeles amid protests over ICE activity, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem tells “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” that “we are not going to let a repeat of 2020 happen,” referring to the unrest in Minneapolis following the killing of George Floyd. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz deployed the state’s National Guard to deal with the 2020 riots in Minneapolis.

We’ve seen the playbook so many times: Democrats accuse conservatives of fomenting violence, white supremacist action, and “insurrection.” While actual examples of the “right-wing” brutality that they endlessly scream about are few and far between, they stay quite busy in the meantime promoting their own domestic terrorism in the form of the devastating urban destruction during the George Floyd-BLM riots of 2020, the antisemitic demonstrations on college campuses that started in 2023, and now in recent days, the active and hostile resistance against law enforcement officers from our own country.

Last week’s debate confirmed that the Democrats running for mayor are competing almost exclusively on a near-irrelevant issue: who can fight President Donald Trump the most.
The field of nine mentioned Trump more than 80 times in two hours; the only other theme to come close was the eight candidates’ pile-on of the clear frontrunner among them, Andrew Cuomo.
And even Cuomo has joined the club-Trump club: When he first entered the race, he talked about working with the White House; now he, too, vows to resist.
Reality check: New York City depends on more than $100 billion a year in federal aid.

President Donald Trump is reportedly considering ways to pull more federal funding from the State of California, as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) continues to defy White House policies, despite needing money.
California is suffering a large budget deficit for the second year in a row, with the state’s Medicaid program borrowing money to stay afloat. Newsom has also asked the federal government for $40 billion in fire relief.
But Newsom is also enthusiastically suing the Trump administration over many of its policies, often seeking the kinds of nationwide injunctions that would stop those policies everywhere, not just in California.

Jared Isaacman, the billionaire entrepreneur and commercial astronaut who had his nomination to lead NASA revoked by President Donald Trump, is claiming that the decision was retribution for his ties to Elon Musk, despite the administration pointing to his recent donations to Democrats as the reason for his departure.
Public donation records revealed that Isaacman, who has “worked alongside” Elon Musk at SpaceX, where he led private space flights missions, made a $100,000 contribution to the Democrat Senate Majority PAC in late 2021.

President Trump is boosting supersonic aviation in the United States.
An executive order the commander in chief signed Friday directs the Federal Aviation Administration to repeal a 1973 rule prohibiting overland supersonic flight, establish new noise standards for aircraft and remove other regulations that get in the way of the development of high-speed planes.
“The United States stands at the threshold of a bold new chapter in aerospace innovation,” the president wrote in the order.
“For more than 50 years, outdated and overly restrictive regulations have grounded the promise of supersonic flight over land, stifling American ingenuity, weakening our global competitiveness, and ceding leadership to foreign adversaries.”

President Trump celebrated a “big win” Friday as a federal appeals court ruled that his administration can ban the Associated Press from entering the Oval Office and other restricted areas amid its ongoing legal spat with the outlet over the Gulf of America.
The White House can now restrict the wire service from the Oval Office, Mar-a-Lago and Air Force One, per a split 2-1 ruling by the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
“Big WIN over AP today,” Trump posted on Truth Social. They refused to state the facts or the Truth on the GULF OF AMERICA. FAKE NEWS!!!”

President Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum on Wednesday evening directing a probe into “who ran” the U.S. during former President Joe Biden’s time in office.
Questions regarding Biden’s mental state have rapidly developed among Democrats since the release of Jake Tapper’s and Alex Thompson’s “Original Sin,” detailing the former president’s mental decline while in office. In the White House’s press release, Trump said the memorandum will direct the investigation into “whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President.”

Ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo won Wednesday night’s Democratic mayoral primary debate — because his opponents’ relentless attacks did more to elevate him than drag him down, a Post panel of veteran campaign strategists said.
The thrice-elected Democrat took some gut punches, but there was no knockout blow or major blunder on his part, the political analysts on both sides of the aisle said.
“I tuned in to see a mayoral debate, not a debate about Andrew Cuomo,” quipped campaign strategist Ken Frydman of the nine-person debate moderated by NBC 4 -

Brussels, the self-proclaimed capital of the European Union, is no longer the beacon of a united Europe, but an advanced symptom of its disintegration.
The normalization of radical Islamic and anti-Semitic discourse we are witnessing in Brussels is the result of 15 years of leaders abrogating their responsibility. Brussels, through its inability -- or unwillingness -- to make unpleasant but necessary choices, is setting itself up as the first potential locus of protracted European unrest.
The Islamist Team Fouad Ahidar party embodies a new situation: a political Islam that no longer hides its identity. Instead, it advocates that a religious identity be the underpinning of national cohesion.

Ukrainian forces have wiped out dozens of Russian military aircraft, including nuclear bombers, in a massive drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s air bases deep inside the country, Kyiv sources are claiming.
The mission carried out by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) using first-person-view (FPV) drones hit 41 Russian heavy bombers at four separate airfields thousands of miles from Ukraine, a security source told the Kyiv Independent on Sunday.
The drones were reportedly smuggled into the country hidden in trucks.
TU-95 “Bear” nuclear bombers, TU-22 “Backfire” fast-attack strike bombers and A-50 “Mainstay” command-and-control jets were among the aircraft that were destroyed in the strike, according to reports.

Supporters of Paris Saint-Germain and violent opportunists set fires, vandalised shops, and clashed with police on Saturday evening in the French capital following to 5-0 victory Inter Milan in the European Cup. During the match, PSG supporters were seen carrying banners reading “Stop genocide in Gaza” and “Free Palestine”. The team may face fines as UEFA prohibits political messages from being displayed in stadiums. At the time of this reporting, at least 294 people have been arrested, however, this total is likely to continue to rise. Around 30 were arrested as a mob forced their way into a Foot Locker store on the Champs-Élysées.
