President Donald Trump on Thursday publicly acknowledged for the first time his deteriorating relationship with Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur who once held a high-level advisory role in his Administration, saying he was “very disappointed” in Musk’s recent turn against the President’s flagship tax-and-spending bill.
“Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore,” Trump told reporters during an Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. “I’m very disappointed in Elon. I’ve helped Elon a lot.” Trump’s remarks confirmed what had already been visible behind the scenes: a once-close alliance between two of the most powerful figures in the Republican Party is unraveling

"The GOP needs a Soros or Gates kinda guy to help bankroll them, then they'd be a lot more competitive. Heck yeah, we got Musk! Rogan is backing our play!"
Oh look, the GOP (all of them, save a couple) torched that relationship within 6 months. They truly are the Washington Generals. There to lose but, look like they're trying.

Time magazine? Do not trust. Let us not be lemmings and follow this story off the cliff. The left would just love that.

If true - stop it, mr. President. This is ridiculous. Elon is entitled to have a differing opinion. There are questions about the bill and if you choose to side with a very unpopular Republican congress, well - you’ll find out. How about you explain why he’s wrong?

We need to cut more crap from the government. Too big, too bloated. The Monopoly money making machine in the WH basement needs to stop. I know some said it needed to be two bills. One concerning the tax cuts and one concerning more spending cuts. I do not like seeing these two go at each other on social media. It is so middle school and reeks of juvenile behavior. Some are going to say "this is great" and some will say "see, I told you this would happen". I don't like tax cuts being wrapped up with all that spending. If you don't vote for the whole thing you will force a huge tax hike. But if we do not reign in this spending it will eventually bring us down. It's like when the best bill ever is being considered and all the Congress attaches all these crap projects. And there you go, you can't have one without the others. What good is a tax cut if we do not control the overall spending?

As the representative, I am hopeful that Elon speaks for the DOGE group. The group must feel stymied, rudderless and/or the mission is coming to a temporary close. Still waiting for the "first" word of prosecutions to take place. Rounding up the ILLEGAL INVADERS has been "good" so far yet there are millions hiding in plain sight. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I want 90% of the government cut out, but i don’t think we get there by airing our dirty laundry in public. Ego’s need to be tempered and hashed out out of the public eye, lest we expose the chink in our armor for dimocrats to exploit. Feel free to tell me I’m wrong.

For all the good that the DOGE team has done, NOTHING YET HAS BEEN DONE at all about all the fraud, government waste, corruption, misappropriation of USAID funds, picking the winners and losers for money laundering kickbacks, etc.
Representative Chip Roy was hoping that by holding out on supporting this BBB boondoggle that more favorable terms and NOT going into further debt and printing money could be had, but he was excoriated for actually wanting to CUT SPENDING. What in the world happened fthat the "republicans" prostitute themselves against the traditional bulwarks of less taxes, smaller government and spending the people's money on "deals" that end up going into the pockets of the politicians???
Where is the party of Ronald Reagan who put this country back on sound footing?

I was praying that Pres Trump would take the high road on this and just zip it. It would have made Elon look petty and Trump look like the title he holds...Presidential. He does not have to respond to everything that someone says...He has much more to loose than Musk on this childish mess.. I am more sad about Trump and his outburst than Musk. I just expected better from our President. Now we as his base will all be expected to deal with it to the dirty Dems who are the winners here. I feel like we have all been through so much stress the last years and I for one am ready for some sanity and calm. Love my Pres. but tired of the drama.

Disagreeing with the unfettered largesse, pork, and outright theft in DC should not disqualify one from being a Conservative. One would think it should be the exact opposite.

Yes, Elon told the truth about the bill. Of course, it irritated President Trump because it WAS correct. However, the X fight going on today is immature and very harmful to the White House. Please stop it, gentlemen!!!

This is a very harmful feud. Trump has tweeted about cutting Musk’s contracts and Musk has tweeted that the reason that Epstein’s client list has not been released is because Trump is on it.

You wish. All of the unknown and long-disgraced publications are the only ones jumping on this incident and attempting to create a bonfire out of a candle. Elon was correct to criticize the BBB and we all know it needs tweaking and cutting. Trump knows it too but patience with congress is a difficult thing to ask. They are turtles dragging cannonballs and reluctant to see their piece of the pie jeopardized.

Successful men typically have large egos and when you put two of them together, a clash is bound to happen.
That being said, I was hoping we were beyond the Republicans shooting themselves in the foot every year.
Dems are rejoicing everywhere.

We are praying that this tiff will be resolved soon. Jesus said a house divided against itself cannot stand so prayerfully there will be a person who knows both of these men that can broker a cease fire. We love both of them, President Trump's leadership and appreciate and support Elon's great contributions to our country. PDJT be the better man and let Elon blow off steam about the BBB budget. Don't get suckered into petty back and forth taunts.

The media loves it when Trump steps in personal quagmires. They know even his staunchest fans get frustrated by his thin skin and mega-ego vulnerabilities. Trump should very publicly use his acclaimed art-of-the-deal negotiating skills to demonstrate his ability to resolve personal conflicts as well as business deals. He could take command of the situation, stick it to the media, and dazzle everyone in the process.

Oh, my goodness. You all need to calm down. This is a long game, and the president is in it to win. This is not the first tantrum Mr. Musk has had. He has the emotional maturity of a 2 yr old. Both his and the president’s love for the country will bring them through. The motives of the media, and even some posters, are obvious.

It’s Friday, June 6th D-Day.
If you live near Bedford VA, take your family and friends to the beautiful U.S. D-Day Memorial. It was located there because the community lost the largest number of Patriots,19, on those Normandy Shores…
It’s a beautiful location and drive overlooking majestic mountains. There are ‘wayside parking lots’ where you and your family and friends can pull over and admire the scenery as we pray for Our Beloved President Trump and his beautiful family and strong, competent teams of fellow Patriots and for America to return to our Founding Principles…
For Your glory, Lord.
Amen

I'm in line with #25 and #27. This dust-up came up as sudden as a desert storm with gale-force winds, and will disappear as rapidly. Mr. Musk's customers and dealerships are in danger due to the insane violence perpetrated by the Left. Something needed to be done to publicly distance Elon from The Donald; knowing that if you give the Left an inch they will take a mile.
Last night I watched "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". The tactics of a "Turner Machine"; corruption and graft have always been with us, targeting children with violence to pressure Jefferson Smith into ending his filibuster. Even after Jeff has been confronted with the thousands of telegrams fraudulently ginned-up by the Turner Machine, he refuses to accept the "evidence" and keeps speaking until he collapses. In that moment of seemingly defeat, Senator Paine attempts suicide and then publicly confesses to his own personal graft and the rightness of Senator Smith's cause.
While I doubt there is a Senator Paine among our current crop of corrupt Dems, President Trump is exposing the graft and sleaze that is a hallmark of our current legislators. Sunlight is the best disinfection. This "split" between Musk and Trump may be a ploy to tease the Dems into being even more brazen. I'm willing to see how this plays out. Being a Trump supporter has never been easy, but he's our best bet to save our country.
Be patient. Trust Trump. MAGA!

I speak only for myself in concluding that the GOP is being torn, and its potential strength diluted, in a rift between populism and conservatism. I was hoping when Trump left the democrat party and became a leading Republican, practically overnight in 2009, he'd become the loudest voice of conservatism, like Reagan, Buckley, and Limbaugh were for decades. Instead, populist rhetoric and policies have supplanted conservatism, which is manifest, like with democrats, in being comfortable with deficit spending and government intervention in the market place. The difference is that populists believe they can intervene in the market place better than how the democrats did. Fortunately, there is a ton of shared middle ground with regard to Border security, national defense, and tax cuts. Unfortunately, the mantra of being OK with tax cuts and increased spending today because, they (the WH and Congress) will 'get to the spending cuts later.' If/when democrats retake the WH and/or the House or Senate, the 'wait til later' strategy will not look so good in hindsight, with the DEI stake to the heart of our country being driven with malice by assorted leftists in power. Unlike populists, democrats have no restraint and may even have strategic goals of ruining our nation's economy to achieve their ultimate aims of driving the U.S. into becoming a Marxist state and its natural progression into a totalitarian state. It was Stalin who admitted, "The purpose of Marxism is communism." Going back to the mid-70's, as a young man serving in the Navy, my first vote for president was for Jimmy Carter, as he was a former Naval officer, dirt farmer, and appeared to have a strong Christian faith. I came quickly to bitterly regret that vote and my own political ignorance, as the Carter administration played out and I began listening to those voices of conservatism, mentioned above, and realized that I was naturally a political conservative (not a convert), based on my upbringing and life experiences, so resolved to vote that way going forward. Decades later, I thrice voted for Trump, never pretending that he was a conservative but pragmatically realizing he was closer to that than any leftist democrat, leaving Trump as the preferred choice - but with the hopes that Trump would come to espouse conservative values and policies. Seeing how conservative republicans are castigated on these pages if they dare to show any disagreement with Trump, I began thinking that what was once the political philosophy of choice for a majority of Americans, was dying of neglect.

Forgot to remind us of THE most important decision in media: Consider the source and don’t respond to a negative question. Remember as kids we would say to annoying people:
‘It's for me to know, and you to find out’!
Time magazine has no validity with Patriots, even on D-Day!
