DENVER, Co. — The city of Denver is preparing for what some have said could be mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. Now, federal prosecutors say they will investigate anyone who stands in the way of beefed-up enforcement of immigration laws. Mayor Mike Johnston said in a statement among other things, Denver will cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in cases of violent criminals. The city will also notify ICE of a pending release if the federal agency requests that notification. “The whole state is bound by our state law in this, which is pretty consistent in some of these

If you have to be somewhere you don’t want to be — like, say, the inauguration of Donald Trump — you may as well make it known you’re not down with the program. At least, that’s what it seems Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson did. Yesterday, during the inauguration, while Mark Zuckerberg was yucking it up with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez and Elon Musk simply could not hold himself back from throwing a thumbs-up to the camera, Justice Jackson sat quietly. With her judicial robes, she wore a collar and a pair of earrings made up of cowrie

‘Tis the season to be…..coffee badging? The new year traditionally marks the time a fresh crop of U.S. corporations requires employees to return to the office after many businesses allowed their staffs to work remotely at the start of the COVID-10 pandemic five years ago. And that means it’s also the season for workers to try to beat the system. What does the term coffee badging mean? Many are “coffee badging,” or swiping their ID badges at the office to record their arrival, staying 30 minutes or so - long enough to greet colleagues and grab a cup of coffee

Hours after Donald Trump was sworn into office as the president, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy asked him to review federal approval of New York’s congestion pricing program, which costs New Jersey drivers an additional $9 to enter midtown Manhattan. In a letter sent to Trump on Monday, Murphy said, “I welcome any opportunity to work with you and your Administration where we can find common ground.” Murphy then reminded the president that he called congestion pricing “a disaster for NYC” during his campaign. Murphy referred to the new toll as “a disaster for working- and middle-class New Jersey commuters

The portrait of Milley, who served as the 20th chairman of the Joint Chiefs from 2019 to 2023, was unveiled earlier this month. Trump nominated Milley, but their relationship soured until the end of Trump’s first term. If passed, the proposed measure — “Calexit,” a nod to the Brexit vote in the UK — would be on the ballot in 2028 and ask voters: “Should California leave the United States and become a free and independent country?” For the measure to pass, at least 50% of registered voters must participate in the election, and at least 55% — or more than 500,000 people, must vote “yes” by July 22.
